I climbed kili about 3 months ago now and what casey is saying about the porters is so true. They are genuinely the happiest people i have ever met and they keep this happiness going at 5,895 m above sea level. All while carrying twice the amount i thought was humanly possible and being on less than 80% on what mot people make in the UK. We all have allot to learn from them.
Casey is the perfect example that no matter where you come from, rich or poor, if you work your ass off and don't let other's opinions stand in your way, you can achieve your dreams. Thank you so much for all of the inspiration man.

Africa is the single best place to travel to. Hands down the absolute best. It truly puts the world in perspective for you and allows you to appreciate it on the most rudimentary level. It actually feels like an adventure, not a different flavor of what you're use to i.e. an Irish person visiting America or Australian visiting Italy. It takes you out of your comfort zone and causes you to think completely differently which is a priceless experience.
Remember it's a continent not a country. What's your fav travel experience?

I went to Tanzania with my friend in 2010 and climbing the Kilimanjaro wasn't a part of our plans. While we were there, we talked to people who have done it and decided to do it too. One of the best decision of my life!

Hello. Well, I didn't expect anyone to even see my comment, haha. Or to get any likes. Thanks everybody for the thumbs up. That's cool. I've commented before and my comments would just disappear into those deep, deep youtube algorithms, so I just thought the same thing would happen again. But yesterday was coincidentally my birthday so I guess the universe is throwing me a bone of amusement, haha. This is my 15 seconds of fame.
It was just a stupid comment I felt like saying after I watched this vlog. I don't know if your questions were serious or if you actually care at all...but no I don't have a job right now, and no I am definitely not rich. It's a long, familiar story, but I live in NYC, Manhattan, not far from Casey, but I might as well be on another fucking planet. I am 32 years old and I am still living in my mother's apartment, living off a meager, (so meager), income. I want to become a working artist and illustrator, but I am an incredibly lazy and unmotivated person who is way too easily entertained and who spends way too much time just watching youtube instead of figuring out how to get a life, and I live vicariously through these vlogs. When Casey climbs a fucking mountain, I actually get a small sense of personal accomplishment from that. (The magic of vicarious living).
I often walk by Casey's office, (but I don't hang out), with a Mountain Dew Kick-Start in my hand, waiting for destiny to kick in and for me and Casey to become best friends and for me to join his gang and climb a fucking mountain with the crew...

I can see why you would think your mom was wrong Casey, but at the same time, if at the time when she told you that, she had not nearly the amount of things & money that you have, I clearly understand why she said that. As a person myself, who does not have the things & money you have, I prefer to buy things I can keep experiencing & keep using as oppose to things I can experience once & then all your left with is just your memories/experiences. Also it's like buying new tires for your car before winter comes when your tires are worn vs. spending that same money going out to to fancy restaurants & clubs. The latter will probably give you better memories, but the former is probably more important for your & your family's safety. Life is all about priorities, especially when working with limited resources.
well exactly! I think it's very immature of him to criticise his mother like this in front of a million viewers, obviously taking her words out of context. Not only that, obviously he recorded his experiences on 'things', expensive things that he presumably had to save up for (thus prioritising the purchase over other short term experiences). I'm guessing his mum was simply flat out broke and worried about money... she wasn't to know that RUclips would appear and give vloggers a career where they can monetise their experiences, just at the right time. And how is this whole vlogging edifice supported? By advertisers selling their 'things' to a receptive and impressionable audience.

I climbed mount Kili Last year . Was a hard task , esp the summit night . But was one of the greatest things I've ever done . The people of Tanzania is super kind and friendly , and always have a smile on their faces . I followed Casey RUclips after the climb , and was thrilled to find he summited Uhuru Peak couple of years back .

Love your travel videos Casey! Tanzania is such an amazing place. It seems like when you were younger you've been to all the places I've been the past few years. I spent the night in Arusha 2yrs ago but didn't go up the mountain, I was just passing through from Kenya to Tanzania where I travelled around for 4 weeks working in the communities and ended up in Tanga on the coast where I did my scuba training. Then you've done Peru and Machu Picchu which I did this summer. Keep up the awesome content bro!

I agree with Casey but most people can't afford experiences like his... IMO time is far more valuable than any amount of money yet if you have a job you probably don't have much control over what your own time.
John Python if you're in the USA a trip to Colorado is only 100-200 dollars if you drive..
It doesn´t have to be big trips like these ones.. look what´s around your area, places you never visited, activities or experiences you never had. It´s surprising how much stuff there is to do just around you.

Yeah, going far to cool places like this is so expensive and of course you can't work during the time, but atleast smaller trips don't cost as much...
I don't think he was referring to trips like this one to Africa; it's about the experience of going somewhere you've never been. You can get all that just by visiting a "new to you" city in you own state (if you are in U.S.) or just a city in a different state. It's about the expericne and the people with whom you are sharing it.
Couldn't agree more Casey. My roadtrip to S-Africa which took a month was the best experience I ever had. That was 15 years ago and I do not remember which things I had back then. Great story!
