Thank you for sharing your video. I picked one up at a scrap yard today. It's not installed yet. I put power to it and by surprise it works! Watching your video gave me a better understanding of how to get into and service mine.
I needed that video....picking up an early model tommy lift and hoped to test it before I leave with it....I suspect I can test with a standard 12v car battery now I know the positioning of things for operation.
Got one used for a good price. My brother and I just installed it yesterday and it slows up and doesn’t close the Last 6”. I can push it the final 6” and latch it closed however. Could that be a Cable Wire issue or….? 🤔🤔
@@YoungbloodFamilyFarm 😁. I have No idea man. I’m not to great at this kind of stuff. My uncle is a diesel mechanic and he is gonna look at it for me this week. I’m asking if it’s messed up or it can be easily fixed with a tune up (Grease it and Hydraulic fluid) I guess. Thank You for replying sir 👏🏼👏🏼👍🏼💪🏼
I have used regular hydraulic oil, not sure if that is correct but seems to work. Here is a link to manuals. www.tommygate.com/service-and-parts/document-library/
Your a little low on your hydraulic oil in the lift. That is why its goes slower at the top. Be a good idea to rebuild your cylinder. Tommy has a nice kit to help you do it
I have a model 1000 from the 70s does anyone know how to look up parts and a manual for it? I can't find it on the tommy lift website
I pinned this comment, hopefully someone can help

Thanks for this. Details like this are surprisingly hard to find.

I think you are right, a properly placed set of jumper cables works well, hope the lift works
my neighbor has one and we used it to lift my liberty save that weight a butt load. They are very useful.
I always thought they were great, and then I moved a refrigerator by myself, then I knew they were awesome!
Thank you sir

How the fluid level? Does the hydraulic line need to be bled?

What type of oil do you use in this lift? I haven’t had much luck searching.

Thank youI was lost,
Does anyone know how much the value of my truck would increase for having an eagle 1000 lb lift gate on it? And yes it's operational
Nice tool to lift heavy stuff into the box! How much weight can it handle?
I was told 1500 lbs
Rad.
You would have loved the sparks!
