All-maple shells give Tour Custom drums their warm, bright tone. These shells are designed with a 6 ply-5.6 mm / 45 degree bearing edge that adds tonal depth and quick response and provides just the right amount of sustain. Finished with a beautiful satin lacquer (with all-new colors) that maximizes the sonic potential of the maple shell, Tour Custom drums play well in any musical style.

Larnell Lewis plays with so much control with his musical talents.
That kit sounds really great, and at 0:10 , also at 1:28 to 1:36 my goodness !!!! 😲🔥
Very musical drummer . ..joy to watch ...and listen...
Wow! Just wow!
Amazing drummer
Amazing drums
Love how he plays butterfly on the toms
Gretchen Parlato album... with Kendrick Scott on the drums. Awesome album ;)
Larnell and Dafnis Prieto are the only players that demo these drums tuned tight. Every other review they sound like ice cream tubs. They really sing here and only here can you tell they're pro level drums. The resonance is comparable to high end drums. Great demo by one of the greatest. Check out Larnell doing One Note Samba solo. One of my fave solos of All time.
Definitely they are as good as the Maple customs and the cost to quality ratio is insane imagine Larnell chose them I forgot how ridiculous the Tour customs are... I have the Rocktour custom in mahogany... only fitting to complete the collection...!!!
@@jas_bataille I used to gig with Ayotte Customs Bop Kit 4/5 piece. It's ridiculous that the snare drum was almost the price of a buying an entire 5 piece Tour Custom and I had them built in 1990 so factor in inflation. In 2022,I wouldn't think of spending $6K on Ayottes given how amazing Tour Customs sound. I wish they came in Bop kick drum sizes bcuz almost all my jobs are small group jazz. Don't wanna lug 20" kick to gigs. I actually just finally got a New Stage Custom Bop kit and it's actually good enough for what I do.
@musicalala
Agree with you, the stage custom is a really great kit too.
@Jas Bataille
True , the tour custom sounds as good as Maple custom (old one with gold lugs) and as good as the maple absolute custom (older version too).
@musicalala
If I was rich I would buy for you any of your favorites kit. For your birthday of course lol .
Fantastic sounding kit, i'm wondering if it's possible to add a floor tom?
For example if I buy a 20/10/12/14 can I add a 16" floor tom?
not the last time I checked...you could get a 14 if you have the 22 10 12 16 kit though
@bryanh...
good news, now it is possible brother ;) You can have the 18 bass drum too. Haha
If Larnell plays it...!! It's good enough for anyone in the world. And for the price...!!! Are you kidding me. The Stage Custom if you are on a really tight budget... but those... they sounds like 4-5K kits... you can get one at a grand with snare used!!!
Fact: The tour custom is the new Absolute maple custom kit.
Same lugs, 6 ply on toms, bass drum not sure if its 10 ply, but dyna hoops exactly like the earlier MCA.
Nope. Its the new tour custom
@DSDr...
You are correct, by the way, I really like your videos man. You aren't posting anymore?
@DSRr...
In the video.. the toms sounded bad cause of the tuning but the Kendrick Scott demo of the tour custom was awesome and sounded like an absolute maple. Not the hybrid but the old one.
@@metothemoon1227 it’s because they’re Evans lol! Awful. Remo all day 👑
@DSDr
Ahah fact straight fact brotha. Remo and Yamaha all day.
Maestro!!
Sounds like he’s playing “Butterfly” - Gretchen Parlato
Lester Page he is
It's a Herbie Hancock tune, Gretchen Parlato covered it.
Exactly,lol...
Oh yes loved this album with Kendrick Scott on the drums . Epic drummer
What size kick?
Is thus the hybrid snaredrum?
Hey Yamaha ;) what is the size of this bass drums please?
Wow
what measure is the kick?
Looks like the 20x15 model. I have the 22" kick. Both sounds amazing I just prefer the 16" floor tom over the 14"
@Tempo Pope
Thanks, I am wondering if I buy the tour custom in sizes 20/10/12/14 can I add a 16" floor tom as supplement ?
By the way it's rare to see Larnell playing a 20 but you are correct in this demo the bass drums is a 20 I think. And the snare is Hybrid maple absolute I think.
It is all a matter of taste how you tune them. Compared to other videos, here I ghink they sound reall bad.
Totally agree, Larnell Lewis is a great drummer but îm not fan of his tuning on this great kit.
The tour custom sounds great and as good as the absolute maple old one.
But Larnell didn't tuned correctly the drums here. The toms sounds dead, bass drum sounds amazing but those toms? Lmao
Kendrick Scott played on the tour custom recently and wow wow wow it was so intense and well tuned.
Is that a 20 base?
Pretty sure it is. I think Yamaha is using 10 lugs on the 20" as well. Pretty rare nowadays. I know Mapex uses 10 lugs on their 20" kick in the Saturn series.
Larnell always good. But the toms sound like hitting card board boxes. Also, Tour Custom with no memory locks. What a joke. How about, Stay at Home Custom. Yamaha has lost their minds.
Check out the Kendrick Scott demo of both the tour custom and the stage custom. Sounded awesome.
But I do agree that here the tom sounded pretty bad, cause of the tuning. But you can actually make this kit sing like crazy.
He barely played the Toms … disappointing
