- Rock ’n’ roll would not be what it is today without Tina Turner. The singer got her start in the industry in the late ‘50s as part of her former husband Ike Turner's Kings of Rhythm. Together, the pair released a number of hits throughout the ‘60s and ‘70s, but it wasn’t until Tina released her 1984 solo album “Private Dancer” that the world truly saw her for the incredible talent she is.
Turner has had a huge career, and one that’s spanned decades. But it hasn’t always been easy. From a very big name change to living it up in Switzerland, this is the untold truth of Tina Turner.

You should have mentioned how Tina Turner was saved from destitution by David Bowie and Cher. After Turner's divorce she couldn't get a television booking. Until Cher stepped up and gave her several appearances on her show. And Bowie made a comment about forgoing a party to celebrate his "Let's Dance" album because he was going to see Turner perform. This caught the attention of several record executives who suddenly showed interest in signing her. Which lead to "Private Dancer" being made.
Notice she left her 6lack background to live in a white world. I hate to bring color up but u go where you’re celebrated not tolerated or worse abused.

But yes, when she was booked on Char's show, they would sing together well. After the two of them realized just how much of their time with their previous husbands was so much alike, from there, Char continued to invite her on the show.

Yes, once he declined the celebration party for his *"Let's Dance album,"* this brought in many interested record executives that wanted to sign her.
Yes, she did get support from well known artists which definitely helped her with paying off previous bills accumulated with her ex.
Once on stage, she knew how to treat an audience and she held her own.
What is never mentioned is that Tina Turner's birth name is actually Martha Nell Bullock, not Anna Mae Bullock. Apparently, her father named her and her mother didn't like that name so was called Ann instead but it was never legally changed. there are documents online in which she signed her name as Martha Nell Turner in the 1970s. Her birth name was mentioned on the PBS website she appeared on African American Lives 2 but then it was mysteriously taken down. Her late close friend Rhonda Graam confirmed this was true and Ike Turner also mentioned it in a few interviews but journalists never ask her about it.

Tina Turner is one of the strongest women I've ever seen. She's been through so incredibly much and still managed to build an incredible life for herself as well as contribute to arts and culture. What a legend.

It is not true that Tina didn't ask for money. She worked hard and wanted half of everything she deserved. She asked for alimony, child support and property in her divorce petition. The divorce was dragging out so she settled on keeping her stage name and retained songwriter royalties from songs she had written. She also kept her two Jaguar cars, furs and jewelry.

Tina was a single teen mother struggling to make ends meet before he helped establish her career. The violence wasn't as one-sided as she portrays. A few other celebrities have said she was aggressive and isn't so nice. It's not a coincidence that she is estranged from her family. Her family was absent from her wedding and they did not participate in her recent documentary either.
Aggressive and not nice is not the same as being violent and abusive.
