He started playing music on piano and guitars when he was 5 and played live in small places when he was 13 and lived alone when he was 15 ran away from an abusive family to live alone he had great talent and that’s a two way street he was famous without her but she did help boost his career. I know that this is an old video but i cant help but to notice that while witth Tina he was so silent during interviews when Tina was present , but i see he can speak playing the victim and a but what about me mentality smh....
Rarely are people black and white. People aren’t born bad and there is nothing wrong with knowing what made him the way he was. He was a monster not just to Tina but many others. But that doesn’t mean he shouldn’t also be remembered as one of the innovators of rock and roll. Besides, he will always live in her shadow. He will never be known on his own merits alone.

Such an asshole. Abuse is abuse no matter who he is. Justifying it just because he was abused as a child. I don’t feel any kind of pitty or remorse for him.
@@Godschildinkc8Yep and Tina was also abusive. She nearly killed one of Ikes' mistresses with a hammer and whooped her kids with extension cords but no one wants to talk about thatm

He stopped being abusive in his last years because he received medication against bipolar disorder and schizophrenia. Audrey Madison Turner writes about it in her book "Love Had Everything to Do With It".
Lawrence & Angela Basset played the hell out of those roles!!!!
Thanks for your story
He so bitter that he titled his book taking back his name!
Tina earned that name.
She was 17 and he was 26 - nuf said.
Keep in mind Tina chased Ike

Trying to humanize a domestic abuser
Yes he was human like everyone else and a lot of these other rock stars were doing way worse than him.
@@kisha4040 he did enough.

Ike doesn't live in Tina's shadow. He was famous in his own right. White folks built her up. Doesn't make him less.
Ike Turner is a HERO whose story few will hear....

Ike was a dangerous man to Tina Turner
He did what he was taught by the adults in his life 😢
😅min😅
He knew right from wrong.
That sounds just like an excuse to me. He could have been a decent human being if he wanted to.

At least Ike remembered their names; I don't.

R.I.P. Ike
Tina wasn't no saint her damn self

He probably would have killed tina if she didn't split 😮
Don't even talk about him!!!
Clear this man's name and stop the lies.
I heard ike was a good man and Tina was crazy
