What makes the credits of "Mother Simpson" even more poignant is that the producers and Matt Groening had to fight tooth and nail with the Fox executives to keep it full view in its entirety instead of being cut or pan and scanned to make way for the commercials.
And the show did it again with its more recent season for the episode "Pixelated and Afraid" where after being lost in the woods for weeks, Homer and Marge's love and marriage is given a renewed passion. And the episode ends with them finding a rangers' cabin and in the process of being returned home, and the credits being a quiet moment of them watching the sunset together while eating chips.

I think that the final episode of The Simpsons will be the saddest of all. Coming from someone who is 38 years old and watched them ever since I think about 10 years old? All good things must come to an end, and I think that’s going to be devastating.

  • @ireneterwilliger17

I think we need a continuation of this video, because the animated series has enough poignant sad moments. For example, when Homer did not have time to forgive his mother (season 19). Or when Flanders misses Edna and Nelson joins him. Or season 32, episode 12, dedicated to the memory of Mrs. K. Or finally the sad backstory of Santa's Little Helper and the moment he reunites with his mother many years later (the last episode of season 31)😌🙏🏼

"Bart gets an F" really hits deep for me. Because a few years ago i got the lowest grade of my class and that means i need to repeat the 9th grade. But luckily the principal said that i have another shot. She said to me that if i pass a test, then i will move up to 10th grade and do summer school to catch up. but if i fail, then i have to repeat 9th grade. I tried desperately to study and tried to resist the urge from playing videogames and watching youtube. But after i did the test, i failed. I was so depressed because i know that i tried my hardest to pass the test, and now it was all for nothing. After summer break, i transfered to a new school, and during my 2 years on that school, i improved alot. My grades went from 68% to 91%. And now i graduated junior high and now moving up to senior high.

“Do It For Her” is my favorite emotional moment from The Simpsons because it reminds me a lot of my mom. Before I was born, my mom had a well paying job as an architect and made really good money. But when she had me, she found out if she kept working at her job she wouldn’t spend a lot of time with me as I grew up, so she quit her job, went back to school, and got a teaching degree. The episode ‘Bart Gets an F’ also shows how messed up the education system is. Bart isn’t dumb at all, he just learns very differently. And the show does a great job showing this. His school just isn’t teaching him in a way that works for him and he has to suffer as a result. They aren’t even trying to find ways to change how they teach him to improve his grades.

Even though I had seen many episodes from seasons later it's still made me teary-eyed especially with how Marge was crying when she saw him. I know not every sad moment can make it on the list, but the one where Moe cries because Homer forgot to take him fishing was really sad. 😭😭😭
The episode when Keusry reunites with his father was sad, too.

19:20 I must say Mona Storylines was a bit wild. At first it was sad because she was mistreated at home, and ran away (should have taken Homer with her),, but still, she was never around until 'Mother Simpson'...but according to the flash backs...she has always been around. She took off because of being neglected, but in other storylines, she was just an adulterer. She took off because of the neglect, but in other flashbacks, it is because of the constant arguing... in others, it is due to Homer's behaviour. The writers can't make up thier minds with this storyline....and it has been said that she took off when Homer was small, but there has been times where Abe and Homer actually accidentally ran into her, despite the fact that he said she was NEVER around. The storyline doesn't even make sense anymore....and even the fact that they chased Mona through the cynon. I am struggling with this storyline. It was sad at first, but now we have three different versions going on.

Thought they would've picked the one where Mona dies off-screen and she has Homer unknowingly help her with one last mission. That episode will always bring a tear to my eyes, especially when that Paul Simon song kicks in during that montage between Homer and his mother.

There was another sad moment of the Simpsons that probably should have been mentioned. In the Simpsons movie, Homer did get abandoned by his own family. When they figure out that Springfield is gonna get blown up and destroyed, Homer said “screw Springfield!” Which to Marge, Lisa, Maggie, and Bart to realize how bad and selfish Homer had been. The next day, Homer sees a video tape of Marge saying this: “The reason of what is coming us together, is my ability to overlook everything you do and I overlook these things because…. Well because…… I just don’t know how to finish that sentence anymore.” “I taped this over our wedding video” Then Homer watched the video realizing that he regretted everything. Leading him to leave Alaska trying to find his family being completely heartbroken 💔. 😢

The Simpsons is not just some overrated comedy cartoon.... its actually seasons upon seasons upon seasons of AMAZING storytelling...and even some strangely put together episodes foreshadowing certain events in real world life....

Ok it’s season 20+ territory but got to give a shoutout to the episode about Homer’s childhood dog Bongo.
    Spoiler warning:
They had been inseparable until Bongo bit Mr Burns and Grampa took him to live on a farm. Don’t panic this time it was an actual farm Bongo was safe, happy and lived a long life. But seeing what it did to a then 6 year old Homer (not too long after his Mom had left) was something I hasn’t left me.

The episode that I said many and many of times that makes me actually break down in tears is.. Mother Simpson... why? Because Homer Simpson is my favorite character and to see a character who makes you laugh 😆 turned into a little boy who missed his mother and she had to leave again... yeah that was sad .. and the scene I break down and cry at the most.. is when she leaves and the sun is setting and then it changes to him sitting on the car looking up at the stars at night... I'm in tears 😢.. this is side of Homer Simpson we don't see much. Glen Close did a marvelous job as Mother Simpson but I'm a fan of hers.. ❤

I've always wondered if Ned had agreed to his family moving a few seats down at the car race then Maude would have survived the t-shirt cannon.
I grew up with The Simpsons and I do remember these episodes and how impactful they were to the characters and audiences
