There's something about THIS version of the piece that has me continually coming back more than all the others. The emotion! The dynamics! The tone! Pure perfection in every note!
While I don't mind the humorous nature of the previous comments, I must say this touched me. This piece has depth, and it touches on a lot of human emotions through pure sound. I think your friend thinks highly of you, and that's beautiful. God bless you for sharing.
His rendition of the ending always gives me chills. You can definitely tell that Rostropovich's teachings took in that he wanted to help students, "understand what a composer was trying to say."
for some reason this makes me think of my elementary music teacher and it makes me sad when i think how of how we treated his class and kind of disrespected him because now i like this music lots
This, together with Four Seasons (Vivaldi) and J. S. Bach - Violin Concertos (BWV 1041, 1042, 1043), is one of my favorites musical piece of art. All of them move up my senses, make me feel alive and push me to do things with a lot of more energy. I don’t know why, but that is the way I feel, so far.
This is simply incredible. I only wish I could master this because there are some songs filled with such emotion and intensity that they can make you be happy or be sad and capture you for all eternity, haunting you with their notes.
It's incredibly rare for me to be moved to tears by music, it takes a lot to do that to me, but this was just such a beautiful performance, I couldn't help myself. Absolutely breathtaking.
This is beautiful. I had the pleasure of hearing this in my living room when i was an art student. My friend brought her cellist friend over, he was going to play with Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra for a year i think it was. It's a long time ago, i was only 21 at the time. The details aren't important.
This is kind of my cello teacher's iconic piece. When I first started cello class he played that piece, when he tunes a cello he often plays it, when he tries out a new cello he plays it, and now he shared the notes for it with me
This is the best recorded version I have listened to since I first accidentally encountered Paul Tortelier's recording, having never even heard of Bach's cello suites before, and listened to it over and over and over again. All of the cello suites are marvellous and inspired, but this prelude to the first cello suite utterly entranced me. This is a superb rendering. The only thing I heard to trump this was a live performance I heard from Raphael Wallfisch over ten years ago, simply because nothing can beat really well performed live music. How I love to hear Mr Maisky play this piece live.
I've been playing this piece for 10 weeks now, there is no way I will ever sound like this. He is like god to all cellists. Incredible. Absolutely incredible.
I know nothing about music - the tunes, the keys..can't even read music notes..but listening to this makes me feel like I understand it too well - Strange?
Not at all. The beauty of this music is universal and timeless. It requires no instruction to be appreciated. It speaks for itself in a voice more powerful than all the pop singers who ever lived or died in the 20th and 21st centuries.
Eu ouvia esse mesmo vídeo a anos atrás, que tinha 19 minutos dessa sinfonia nesse ritmo único aqui no RUclips, mas infelizmente não acho mais /: era a melhor sensação do mundo
I played the Violin for 3 years and my sister the Cello. I really appreciate the skill it takes to play this masterfully. Also, the music is simply beautiful!
The dynamics in his playing...I cant get over it. I love this so much that I have searched for its equivalent on youtube and I cannot find it. This performance alone is the best I have seen.
+Abby Darel it depends of sensibility... the first movement of brahms ' violin concerto moved me much more..; or the sibelius' 7th symphony. and there is so much beautiful pieces ! :-).... Beethoven Schubert Mozart Mahler Ravel....
+Abby Darel I understand :-) I think if I listen this piece with you, perhaps it would be very emotional for me :-)... Mahler Schubert or Brahms touch me deeply ; but Bach doesn't move me so deeply, yet.. (sorry for my english I m french :-)) )
Ah, those moments in the morning where you make breakfast, get yourself dressed, and look at your blood-covered younger self in the mirror before heading out...
I simply searched for prelude because it's one of the most soothing pieces of music out there and it calms my nerves. However I first heard it way back in the movie The Pianist and instantly fell in love with it. So in some sorts I was brought here by The Pianist. ;)
So did I but my mother said that I needed to stick with something in this life, so I stuck with my violin for the next 13 years. My only regrets are that I''m not better at playing my violin and that I didn't stick with insisting on learning the cello.
I don't think I've seen the comments section on a classical piece of music on youtube without people thinking they're all high and mighty for listening to it and looking down their noses at those who DARE have different tastes than them. Music is subjective, if everyone liked the same music and things as you there wouldn't be much room for creativity, would there? "Oh but Leelee" I hear you say "there's no creativity in today's rap and pop music! It's all about bitches, drugs, violence and money!" To which I would say that's like saying all classical music is just boring instrumentals, you're looking in the wrong places and dismissing things and the people that enjoy them for no good reason.
I've also seen people claim that they are intelligent for listening to classical style of music. I've seen some claim they listen to it to become more intelligent. This misconception aggravates me immensely. I've not seen intelligence correlate to music preference. I prefer it because I'm very much into music composition and I also just prefer the overall orchestration of classical music. I find it beautiful just as some may see a rock ballad as beautiful. It's all about preference. People need to drop the elitist attitude and just enjoy what they love.
***** I don't know, using the blanket term of popular music is problematic (unless perhaps, you're referring to top 40 pop music in which case the following may or may not apply) just simply because it's hard to say blanket statements about genres of "popular music" let alone it as a whole. Certain bands lean on image more than others, and those who may be more inclined to the image part of the spectrum might not be trying to give off an ultimately positive image even. I don't think a group like Death Grips is trying to look pretty or even pleasant, and they certainly didn't act or even sound that way. Same can be said for an old hardcore punk band like say, Black Flag. Gender can be a barrier for some genres of music but certainly not one that can't be overcome. There are female death metal vocalists out there and men who can sing Ave Maria as beautifully as some women. So yes, some things you have attributed to music that isn't classical can be considered applicable but you're painting with a rather broad brush. But sadly, no matter how rationally we state our points and try to sound intelligent, or how much we argue about the nature of passion in music, the things we ultimately say are opinions. So we're probably not going to agree on this subject since we're different people with different experiences that have shaped us yaddayaddayadda, this digression has gotten out of hand.

Yes,same with myself. Any other version sound farm too...happy?
I didn't know Pimento had it in him.
Must be how he slurs all the notes which I haven’t seen in any other videos
I completely agree. This version is truly wonderful.
I totally agree. This performance by Mischa Maisky is one of a kind.
my friend told me that this song reminded him of me and honestly it's the best compliment I've ever received
You’re elite
what does that mean exactly?
Lmao 🧢
probably bcuz he was listening to this piece when he was around u

Words cannot describe what I feel while enjoying this beautiful masterpiece.
That music is so powerful, I just can't describe the mix of feelings I get, the joy, the sadness, the tear rushing through my face, the chills...
His rendition of the ending always gives me chills. You can definitely tell that Rostropovich's teachings took in that he wanted to help students, "understand what a composer was trying to say."
The cello is by far the most beautiful sounding instrument
My son just started to learn I hope one day he can play this song. It’s sublime. 😊
This piece is my all time favourtie piece of music. It just moves my to the core of my being.
The acustics of the place where this was recorded is just sublime
This is what music is supposed to do -convey what words cannot, and heal the soul.

Bach - Good for solos.
