      @@Percy_Garcia many of them if she is smart she would give one to everyone she could and theyd all have an atlatl... kinda like a proto spear/sling combo..
      An atlatl is essentially a stick with a handle on one end and a hook or socket that engages a light spear or “dart” on the other. The flipping motion of the atlatl propels a light spear much faster and farther than it could be thrown by hand alone.

    • @GarrisonFall
      @GarrisonFall 5 лет назад

      @EmtronVenger I agree about the atlatl/spearthrower; very effective but difficult to use. Regarding detachable tips - some cultures make arrows with detachable/replaceable heads. This allows the hunters to retrieve the shafts without damage, saving time in preparing other arrows, even if the head is embedded in bone or the animal escapes.

    It's not too hard to figure out what Arya's new weapon is and why she wants it. In combat, different strategies or techniques are used at different distances. If Arya is fighting a creature of the dead, she could kill it with the cat's paw dagger but that would require her to be within arm's length of the creature and if she's within arm's length, the creature will have an equal opportunity of killing her too. Going into this battle, Arya knows she'll have to fight multiple creatures and quite likely several at the same time and if all she had was a close quarters weapon she'd be in trouble. With her new staff, she could keep several at a distance until she could seize upon a killing opportunity when it presented itself.
    The nature of this new weapon tells the viewers that Arya is a well trained killing machine, that she not only is thinking ahead to her potential and likely matchups but also that she's considered her options when/if her preferences are taken away... that she's already planned ahead. The detachable tip is her backup contingency should she find herself at a distance closer than she'd like.

    The weapon seems pretty straight forward. Long for wide area combat and many targets, then short for close ranged combat and single targets. Pretty neat too that it's designed after her faceless training. It's already been said that Needle wont be effective in that kind of combat, and the dagger is to small to fight off multiple targets. Catspaw is probably more special too, for assassinating Whitewalkers most likely. She still has the removable blade part in her hand when she's running in the first trailer. Man it's going to be so intense.

    When Bran gave Arya cats paw, his long look gave me the impression that the dagger would either take down the Knight King or Bran when he turns into a Wight Walker. The new weapon I feel will be used to take out Viserion.

  • @GawBil
    @GawBil 5 лет назад +11

    The detachable dragonglass piece looks a lot like the lice the children of the forest used on that man. I have a feeling Bran instructed or guided her to ask Gendry to build the weapon.

    • @NahualliUoxtitla
      @NahualliUoxtitla 3 года назад

      doesn't seem to be any reason why Bran couldn't have just asked for it himself, he's the MVP of the war. I think Arya just reflected back to all her training and came up with a weapon that played to all her strengths. She doesn't need Bran for that.

  • @permeus2nd
    @permeus2nd 5 лет назад +1

    So what the weapon says to me is she’s a smart girl, yes her dagger can kill white walkers but you have to get really close, too close for my liking and probably her liking to (look what happened when one of the best fighters we have seen on the show because he got overconfident and got into close range with the mounting? It wasn’t pretty) so this new weapon will give her a bit of range, also Multi vector attack, most fighters are trained in a manner of combat that focuses on the pointy end of their opponent weapon and it can be quite a shock if the weapon you in mid block suddenly become a second weapon that is heading right for your soft fleshy bits and you don’t have a hope in hell of blocking it or dodging.
    As for this battle with the white walkers I really can’t see it lasting that long as like I have said before the nightking isn’t the type of person to lay siege to a castle and that was before he had a dragon, is quite literally the oncoming storm, the only way I can see it going long is if they don’t attack the forces of the north and just pass them by heading south, it would be interesting if that did happen as that’s a lot of new questions.

    Needle is good for quick work against humans but being regular steel is useless against the Whights. The Catspaw is Valyrian Steel BUT it is NOT a distance weapon. The dragon Glass spear gives her more reach ESPECIALLY being 5'1" with short arms.

    • @v.robinson5302
      @v.robinson5302 5 лет назад

      Needle is valerian steel. Arya is at a disadvantage with reach. A spear like weapon will give her the extended reach she needs to fight grown men with out getting to close. She can throw it. Keep her attacker at a safe distance and when the length becomes cumbersome she can detach the blade for close combat.

Arya's present day face may just be the last one anyone in the north sees. She may well wear another face at the end of the story to get access to Cersei and kill her. Kill the Queen or no, I would bet she really will leave for the west never to return. So no sculptor would ever see her as she ages.

    The fight with Brienne showed Arya that she could defeat her formidable opponent if she closed distance, BUT at the cost of her own life as well. She needs a spear-length weapon both because she is trained in such usage, but also to avoid the danger inherent to close-quarter combat.

    Which goes on to argue that Jaqen WAS at the citadel using the face of a maester. Maybe Jaqen was in kings landing for Arya because he knew she would need to fight in this battle. That's why he just let her leave, it was a part of his plan. All of it.

    My theory is that she’s going to realise dragon glass spears aren’t harming the knight kings dragon and so she will put her valyrian steel dagger in the detachable section of her spear and throw it/shoot it from a machine at the dragon in order to kill it

    You have to get up close and personal to use a knife. A stick or spear allows a person of shorter stature the advantage of maintaining some distance. Also, she may not be as good in the darkness with needle or a knife as she is with a stick/ spear.
    As far as why it’s detachable, no clue. Unless being in 2 parts makes it easier to hide it? Or easier to run with it?

    Needle is valerian steel. Arya is at a disadvantage with reach. A spear like weapon will give her the extended reach she needs to fight grown men with out getting to close. She can throw it. Keep her attacker at a safe distance and when the length becomes cumbersome she can detach the blade for close combat.

    Arya doesnt actually need a weapon made from Dragonglass, she already has one. The hilt of Cats Paw is made from Dragonglass, that's why it appears in the book that Samwell is looking through when he finds the map for Dragonglass at Dragonstone

    Bran may have advised Arya on the weapon's design. Arya doesn't appear to be condescending towards Bran (like Sansa) because of her experiences. In my opinion Arya would be willing to listen to Bran.

      I really don't get the impression Arya would, at this point in the story, need to listen to very many people's opinions when it came to the subject of killing others, and as much as she loves her brother, I'm pretty sure it's safe to assume Arya is enough in control of her own prowess to be able to design her own weaponry.

    My theory is this. The spear is with some kind of spring mechanism. Thus, when Arya will use face of white walker or whites to come close to night king and will try to kill night king. But she might fail because night king might sense it.

  • @spyrosbio

    I can think of two reasons for a detachable tip spear.
    1 - you throw it at the Ice dragon, but it managed to stop the spear with his claws, but the tip, now detached, keeps flying and hits the target
    2 - if there's some kind of spring to launch the tip at the Ice king's face and Boom. War is over.
    What do you think?

    I really hope Arya isn't able to take the face of a white walker... that would be disappointing. That would make as much sense as her being able to de-face someone twice, so she can look like them normally and look like them without a face (zombie-like).

    I think the spear is going to function similar to a lacrosse stick. In that you can fling the spear outward with a throwing motion. Of course you only get one shot (unless its on a string.), not sure what her plan is but maybe that is all she will need?!? See the Night King, and "Aim for the head!!"

  • @paulabarra5431

    I think she will take out white walkers we saw the war consul meeting where Jon, Arya, Daenerys, Jorah, Virys, and Sam are seen. I think Arya has the task of taking out white-walker.
    I think the need weapon allows her to keep her distance from her opponent much like Oberyn Martell from the mountain. If it wasn’t for all the pause Oberyn made he would have had him in the ground dead.
    Swift as deer, silent as Shadow cat, quick as snake. Also she was blind which taught to be alert at all angles of her body. Like I said there was a reason for all her training I mean
    Jon Snow
    Syrio Forel
    Yoren
    Jaqen H’agar
    The waif
    The hound
    Brienne of Tarth
    All of this great warriors fighters have left their marks on Arya combat skills so she is more prepare.
    And we so her shooting arrows with Dragonglass points which we all know she has a natural Eagle eye for landing her target from season one.
    So I think needle on the winterfell meant she has had moved on from the Arya underfoot or Arya Stark of Winterfell and is ready to leave winterfell after the war and continues with her other duties as well as probably a new face of her life as grown woman.

    The size of the dragon glass tip relative to the hilt's size looks like it would appear as a dagger, but have removable dragon glass. Therefore I think it is a ranged weapon for throwing and reloading dragons glass for short to medium ranged projectiles.

    My $.02 - Jamie dies heroically in the battle of winterfell. Aria steals Jamie's face. She returns to Kings landing and uses Jamie's face to gain access to & kill Cersei. The scene of her running in the catacombs is her running from the Mountain after she has killed Cersei.

    the "hilt" of the new weapon is the hilt of needle. So the weapon is built around her current arsenal. For when the spear fails the sword and dagger will replace it.

    Question: I know right now we're all super concerned about who's going to survive episode 3, but ultimately some people have to because there are 3 more episodes left after it. I'm hoping Sansa does because with all these claims to the iron throne from John and Dany she's really the only person left to care for the North. Assuming this doesn't end with mass death, what do y'all think should go down there? Sansa's had some major character growth since the annoying ass girl she was in S1. I kind of love her now.

    I think it will be more of a one handed bow, or a sling shot type that allows her to throw dragon glass knives further than without an assistive tool but one handed because it would be quicker and easier to maneuver than a bow
