    Did you play Season?

Sadly, no. I was in the middle of something else - I don't even remember what - and it just fell right off my radar.

Honestly I enjoyed it but it didn't hit me super hard. Still worth being more successful I think

I think the reason games like Season fail is because they are not games. They are closer to a visual novels, and from the look of it, it seems to have a rather boring story.

I am with you that they are more like an art film or a piece of literature, but calling them not games is reductive

Very insightful and interesting discussion, thank you for doing the interview and discussing a very interesting topic!
I would love to hear how demos impact the sales. From a user POV, the demos are great as you can more easily judge if you'll like the game and spend your money wisely. On another hand I can imagine this could affect an idie game sales significatly, as the players would just play the demo for 20-30 minutes, feel like they've had enough of the game and never come back to actually buy it...
p.s. Pyre is a hidden gem and my fav Supergiant's game. It has the perfect blend of very personal storytelling, the plot is heavy on themes, gameplay is intricately woven into the story and vice virsa, and the OST is the most diverse soundtrack Darren Korb has written yet, ranging from upbeat metal to classical orchestral sound, back to uplifting chill tracks and into the eldrich horror chanting. Did I mention the main song of the game has Nine varietions in different styles and genres with different lyrics? No, no I haven't, I think I'll say that again. Main song has N i n e versions and you'll hear all of them during your playthrough. Plus the credits song remembers your big choices and will be personal for each playthrough too! Pyre is great, go play it
