How to build a Bandsaw Fence - Why buy when you can build?!

- In this video I will show you how I built a simple re-saw fence guide for my band saw. I just couldn't see the need for purchasing one when I could build one out of scrap plywood laying around the shop.

When you need a shorter fence, it looks like you should be able to turn the whole thing so that the base that is currently on the table becomes the shorter fence and the tall fence becomes the base on the table. That way, the same fence is usable for both taller and shorter heights simply by switching which side is the fence and which side is the base.
You know, sometimes the most simple of solutions are staring us right in the face and we don't see them till someone points them out! Great idea!👍👏👏

I had a diy fence, it worked ok. But upgraded to a Kreg, I really like it.

Cut a slot in the fence so you can close up the saw. Think I might make mine the same way.

When I built my shop (20' x 20'), I spent $1500 to have a ontractor spray foam t he entire interior. I figure (computed) that I recdvered the $1500 the first winter (and 40°C summer!). Good investment. Climate control. I put in an inexpensive LG splic HVAC and my shop is comfortable yesr around.
Great idea. Maybe on my next shop I will plan to do that. I have plans to either expand my current shop as I'm out growing it very quickly or relocate it to my place of business which has a very large shop to work in. Thanks for watching!
I wish I had seen this before I made mine because I had the exact same problem with the guide not being able to go down! Did you ever come up with a solution?
No, no solution yet. It hasn't really been an issue so I haven't worried about it 👍
I probably would flip your gig the other way so that the guide could come down a little more, other than that nice simple fence to build
About the only thing I would do differently, would be to use a resaw blade instead of a scrolling blade.
Bandsaw blade drift doesn't always call for a perfectly straight fence. I use my DIY magnetic fence and Carter FAST fence alignment and adjust my fence accordingly.
That is true. I have seen many fences set up that way. Mine cuts straight so no need to account for drift. Course I'm about to get new blades so we'll see what happens then. Thanks for watching!
Could of flipped fence over, meaning base one width and fence smaller or wider width , letting you bring blade guide down farther
