Hello, can I ask you? I was changing my oil today and I forget to buy new drain plug, so I used original. Is that big issue? It was not damaged, I can see 0 oil on it when I put new oil there. Unfortunately I checked that I don’t have it after i took oil away..
Ok, I am looking for reliable info on running something other than 0-20w oil in a 2020 GTI. 5-40, 0-40 etc, without compromising the engine or voiding warranty.
You missed the oil service reset option and you reset the interval for a full inspection every 2 years or 24k miles I think haha. Need to let go when the first option pops up. I did the same my first oil change.
Yep, the trick is to release as soon as you see the desired reset. If you go too long, just turn the ignition off, and try again. If you accidentally press it a second time, you will reset the 20k inspection interval only as the video showed.
I’m sure it’s the same. Other guy who replied to you don’t know 💀 the golf line up in general shares a lot. Gti and R have the same motor. It should be the same.
I also in 1.4 tsi also flooded the LM 5W-40 Molygen / I trust you :) Why haven't you flooded the 5W-30? I am often asked such a question, such as 40 is too thick for a run of 126 thousand km.
MANN produces the original filters for many applications. Theyre an OEM option - same as you'd get from the parts counter at the dealership, but labeled with the part manufacturer, not 'Genuine XYZ'. Hengst is another similar and equally good option
If you have fun every 5k if you are tuned every 3.5k if you just cruise you can get away with the 10k intervals that vw recommends however I wouldn’t wait that long
The torq was what? I thought I heard 25 mm but not sure. And I'm guessing but it looks like it's the same job as on a regular mk7 Golf, just .2 quarts less oil.
I'm believe its around 25Nm to 30Nm.... On a new filter housing cap ring seal it might just tight to 25Nm (about 18 pounds torque) and if using the same old seal since its worded already it might tight up to 30Nm (22 lbs torque).
The +5 does not mean 5Nm. It actually means degrees, as in degrees of rotation. You see this often in the service manual for torques specifications. So it's 25Nm plus 5 degree of rotation. 1/20 of a turn. Close to halfway between any two hour numbers on a clock.
@@Lessenjr oh ok, I thought it was 25Nm+5Nm... I wonder why not put the correct torque instead of this unclear description... but thanks for clarifying !
My 2019 GTI calls for 0W-20 instead of 5W-40. Anyone know of approved oil brands? Obviously I'm still under warranty but I hate going to the dealer for basic maintenance.
Not true Mk6_mark. 0W-20 is the weight for Mk7.5 GTI and the oil spec has to be VW508. You can only get the oil from VW. Castrol edge OE professional with the fancy UV dye and all. That oil is made for VW/Audi specifically. Justin, you will have a super hard time finding the VW508 spec oil in stores. It’s $12.50 CDN per ltr at the dealer. The word on the street is VW built the oil pump around the 0w-20 as well as other engine tolerances and using a thicker oil can cause issues. As well as increased fuel consumption.
Yes, if you're going with correct recommended maintenance it's a single use thing. The rubber gasket gets flattened a bit when you seal it the first time so if you break it loose it doesn't form as tight of a seal and can leak.
I over tightened my OE drain plug so the next oil change is gonna suck getting it out. buying the schwaben socket tool to approach the plug from that angle and not screw myself over again. Pun intended.
This argument doesn’t hold up considering you won’t have an official record of maintenance thus lowering car value later on. Could be a couple thousand lost.
Don't forget after the new oil change start the engine let it run for a min then let it set for a min and recheck your oil level (done )
