But this woman doesn’t see a problem here, she adores Belly no matter what she does and she has no consequences for kissing both brothers and playing them like that. To me it’s astonishing how Susannah never got angry at Belly nor reprimanded her sons about the whole shit show.
It’s extra icky because Susannah was basically pushing Belly to pick one of them, to be a Fisher. It’s also very clear which one she wanted Belly to pick (Conrad)
@@violetlavi2207 It was like this in the book series too guys! Susannah REALLY wants Belly to date one of her sons!!!! She wants to have "my bestie and I both have kids who get married to each other so they make us bonded for life."

It’s honestly weird how 2 brothers willingly went back to a girl that their sibling dated. I don’t see anyone talking about this. Like first Conrad dating Belly in season 1 knowing she had just kissed his brother and he was in love with her. He had to have a whole conversation with him about it so he would approve?? Maybe don’t date her? But okay, understandable if you’re really in love. A thought: the brothers could have a conversation about the situation and their feelings and decide to prioritize their relationship to one another. Belly is not the only one responsible for her actions, the boys are too. What do you think?

Cam seems like he’d be the best choice for her after she goes to therapy. Also, things between the brothers wouldn’t be so weird and they could all hang out without it being so awkward. If they still wanted to do a love triangle, it could be between Cam and Jeremiah so it wouldn’t be so weird.

This show romanticizes everything bro. Nobody is going to have their first kiss on a beach with Taylor swift playing. My friends first kiss was in the summer behind her neighbors house by a tree and we were all laughing. First kisses are a absolute joke.
Agreed. I'm over 40 and I am racking my brain trying to even remember mine - and I do have memories from even further back, like elementary school age. We romanticize kids way too young, and then tell them to obsess over the weirdest things, while also covering everything in a purity culture veneer. It's really disturbing.
mine was on a train INFRONT of my crushes dad. there was nothing romantic about it other than that we met first after 7 months of long distance relationship
I get that, but I think we also need to remember that it’s a fictitious story. My first kiss was anticlimactic and with someone who I wish I never had it with, and I just don’t think it would make a good story for a book or tv show. I remember as a teen I daydreamed a lot of romantic situations and romanticized parts of my life, this hasn’t affected my adult self in any way, I think it’s okay to sometimes as long as it doesn’t reach the point of delusion. I think it’s okay to embellish and romanticize fictitious situations. It’s not the writers responsibility to make sure the readers don’t take it realistically, I think as media consumers we should go into the mindset with fiction that things are obviously going to be unrealistic and exaggerated. At some point we do need to take accountability with ourselves on how we process fiction and fake scenarios. At the end of the day a lot of fiction is there for entertainment and I think this show does the job. Honestly as a 28 year old who works 10 hours a day I love me a little bit of romanticism with tv shows, it’s fun and a good way to unwind. This also isn’t me saying that media can’t be criticized, I think it’s great to process things with a critical eye and form you own thoughts and opinions.
When I first heard the title of this book, I thought “I turned pretty” meant turning a bad summer into a good summer, therefore make it “pretty”….No. “Pretty” means “attractive to boys/puberty.” I can’t with how self-absorbed Belly is and the fact she was able to pull 3 boys and cause all this drama with boys who could totally pass as her cousins is ridiculous. Like, why are yall picking sides??? The only side we should be on is the one where Belly - and everyone besides Cam - should take the time for self-reflection! 💀 Also side note, I also don’t get the hype around THAT scene with Belly and Conrad…people really be hyping up a scene of two teenagers - one being a minor - having sex…please
I agree with a lot of the things you say, and I agree with the whole Conrad is a walking red flag! However, I think that the Taylor Swift songs were perfect for the scenes they were in. My friends and I were constantly commenting on how well selected and well integrated they were.
meh, they were alr. but you can tell that’s it’s forced and only there so tiktok girlies can go crazy over the taylor swift songs and popular songs that are on the billboard charts lol
Yeah honestly throughout season 2 I was surprised by how little they were showing susannah and laurel or the effects of her passing on the boys and belly, like I know susannah unfairly expected belly to end up with either one of her sons but if belly's need to be with one of them stemmed from wanting to do it for susannah, she they should've shown more moments with her and susana while she was sick and also belly shouldn't be treated jere like a 2nd choice and hopping between him and conrad if she truly cared about their feelings. Also, I know young teenagers would get bored without the romantic drama aspect, but there is such a thing as balance, and especially after knowing susana for a whole season, I think a lot of viewers would still be invested in more moments with her and the greif that comes after. Also I still enjoyed the vibes of season 2 and kinda understood why they wanted to save the house but their plan was really immature and illogical looking back. Cam is def the best btw, but he and even jere are too good for belly. Still I dread the moment the show chooses conrad for belly bc 'it was always him' or smth.
Im not even joking, i was watching it with my friend and i asked when Bella was gonna have the glowup (the actor who plays her is gorgeous but nothijg had changed about her since the show started) and apparently it had already happened
Right. Like she's a pretty girl, but I was like.. she's average at best and these two boys are fighting over her😭her personality brings nothing to the table either because why are you so toxic
These are all excellent points, and I liked the alternate version you created that could have been. The messaging in this series (and apparently the books are worse) is problematic at best. All 3 of these poor kids and the moms need therapy.

Maybe i'll be moddy, depresss act mean to my ignorant family, but i would talk it out with my mom. Let's say he doesn't open up and is overwhealmed. Okay but why taking it on the mom. This and the " you act so immature" really get under my skin. Because he isn't mature at all, yet act like he's the bigger persone. He hurt his girlfriend again and again and never take any blame, because poor conrad he's so broken and dark. while jeremia is always happy and goffy. So we can scream at him for being in the wrong because he's " so silly". This feel unfaire. Only belly can call them out but she does in the most slef center way so we never really get conrad self reflect and is forgiven just because. also this is something i found very sad for jeremia, because he play the funny one people never think he can be hurt or take things seriously. Yet he does, he feel so much but put a simly face to cover it because of this "role" of the happy friend. That sad, like he has no one to be his true self with and when he does she leave him the first chance she get after she told him "it's you, no one lef". Boy i would be angry if i was him. Anyways i'm team therarpy for all 3 and stop tearing the family appart.

i couldnot get into this show because who the f calls her daughter/bestfriend/friend Belly?? Belly!! It icked me so much i just couldnt continue it, thanks for the summary
Can we talk about how they are TEENAGERS you don’t know anything about love at that age, and your love life only really starts in your 20s maybe even 30s. I believe that belly should take to mature before jumping into this.
Tbh this show has a good plot but it just wasn’t displayed as well as it could I agree in some parts on what u r saying but belly is just a teenage girl who is experiencing something’s. I feel like the best plot in this story was suzanna’s and laurel friendship and also Suzanna’s death. But I also kinda relate to belly I think sometimes love just drives us crazy. Ik belly is an irritating and naive character but I think she displays a lot of our teenage life for example friend fall off, love life, changing in teenager, cigar, school grades dropping, and family problems. And for the love interest Conrad: teenager who has many redflags but still has a depth in his personality we can see that when they dated they were so happy Jeremiah: sweet boy who was her best friend she didn’t look at him like that until he told her so that’s y she liked Conrad more Cam: he’s a good person and also sweet but he’s not meant for her and she didn’t rly like him more than a friend This shows that first relationship doesn’t mean it’s the last. But also for the house sometimes tbh u may not have experienced it to know how much it might mean to them like they lost there mother who they loved so much and its a place that means so much to her and also u can feel her all around i feel like if i was the boys at that moment i would’ve fought for the house too. Ps: this is just my opinion I don’t mean to offend anyone and I’m so sorry if it did
“Take off your glasses and you’re pretty” is such a 90s/early 2000s teen movie trope. As a millennial I love the teen movies I watched between the ages of 12-18, but that’s a trope I was never fond of and hoped had vanished off of the face of the earth.
BELLY IS THE ISSUE LIKE!! It makes me so mad. & both of them are red flags idc. They both are red flags if you have to pick a girl over FAMILY! You are also the problem, two brothers fighting over A GIRL! Oh my gosh, yes I love Jeremiah he had every right to act the way he did. Jeremiah finding about his mother having cancer again sad, but I didn’t like how he kissed a guy at a party & continued to hit on someone he knew he had feelings for. & belly having dreams about Conrad digusting & underage drinking why?
Yes! Cam Cameron is such a green flag, but he deserves better than selfish and immature Belly. Conrad is too edgy - I don't get why she is still so into him.
I have never watched this bc im the demographic but also not at all idk but i have much to say from what i have seen. The reason belly or whatever didnt end up wit the cam guy is bc that woulda have been a poc relationship. The author has an obsession with woc x white man relationships. Same with why Laura Jean didnt end up with John Ambrose bc he was blk(he was white in the book but like come on that just proves my point further). But hey! There was Kitty who basically ended up with a korean man. But here is the catch she is born from a white man x woc relationship. Belly’s brother ends up with a white girl. I have no issue with interracial relationships where one of them is white but like its strange when nearly all of the main relationships in ur stories are interracial but with one white love interest it just starts to get weird. Another thing is how was belly mad that her friend got down and dirty with her brother and then turns around to play with two BROTHERS’ feelings. She caused fights between the too and everything just bc she couldnt make up her mind. Its just hypocritical🤕 Also that conrad guy needs brown contacts im shaking in my boots rn
hi sorry for the editing mistake in the beginning!

I wanna say thank you for pointing out Conrad’s red flags because so many ppl are team him I just don’t get it. honestly she needs to go home and stay away from both them boys… and I heard those bts instrumentals in the background lol💜💜
I saw someone on tiktok rename the show, "the summer I turned into a bird" and it resignated with me
i couldnot get into this show because who the f calls her daughter/bestfriend/friend Belly?? Belly!! It icked me so much i just couldnt continue it, thanks for the summary
Yeah, the name is pretty odd. I really thought it was like a nickname they gave her guess not 🫣
@@Em-tj6rh It is her nickname! Her real name is Isabel!
I hateeeee bellys character
And for the love interest
Conrad: teenager who has many redflags but still has a depth in his personality we can see that when they dated they were so happy
Jeremiah: sweet boy who was her best friend she didn’t look at him like that until he told her so that’s y she liked Conrad more
Cam: he’s a good person and also sweet but he’s not meant for her and she didn’t rly like him more than a friend
This shows that first relationship doesn’t mean it’s the last.
But also for the house sometimes tbh u may not have experienced it to know how much it might mean to them like they lost there mother who they loved so much and its a place that means so much to her and also u can feel her all around i feel like if i was the boys at that moment i would’ve fought for the house too.
Ps: this is just my opinion I don’t mean to offend anyone and I’m so sorry if it did
And for Taylor I guess belly just felt like she always was in her shadow and maybe irritated her sometimes
Belly was such a kid even in the books, she gets older but stays with the mind of a 10 years old🙄
i ship no one but im just like seeing the there life is crazy to me
“Take off your glasses and you’re pretty” is such a 90s/early 2000s teen movie trope. As a millennial I love the teen movies I watched between the ages of 12-18, but that’s a trope I was never fond of and hoped had vanished off of the face of the earth.
THANK YOU FOR TALKING ABOUT THE MUSIC
Justice for Cam
👇🏻
The last part of part 1 with and your sister was so cute ❤
stop im loving your videos so much 😭😭
Am i the only who still ships cam and belly?
BELLY IS THE ISSUE LIKE!! It makes me so mad.
& both of them are red flags idc. They both are red flags if you have to pick a girl over FAMILY! You are also the problem, two brothers fighting over A GIRL! Oh my gosh, yes I love Jeremiah he had every right to act the way he did. Jeremiah finding about his mother having cancer again sad, but I didn’t like how he kissed a guy at a party & continued to hit on someone he knew he had feelings for.
& belly having dreams about Conrad digusting & underage drinking why?
9:32 *insert anti-hero verse by Taylor Swift*
just making sure yall know Belly is brat not Lola Tung
So nobody gon talk about how Jeremiah a red flag as well as Conrad ?
the title 😭
I'm team٫ belly should stay single like this SMART lady said.
this is so real.
Tbh she made me ashamed to be wasian. She needed to be grounded till college. 😂
I'm the biggest swiftie but even for me the music is so out of place
Does anyone else hate watch this show?
I mean objectively you’re probably right but I personally couldn’t care less about laurels mid life crisis (very sorry)
Yes! Cam Cameron is such a green flag, but he deserves better than selfish and immature Belly. Conrad is too edgy - I don't get why she is still so into him.
While she's experiencing this very stupid dilemma omg 🤣😭
Its just hypocritical🤕
Also that conrad guy needs brown contacts im shaking in my boots rn
yeah, ngl the whole kicking shayla out to have her date taylor was very weird. why even evolve shayla at all.
she a total red flag for god's sake
I found Belly EXTREMELY annoying. Girl your mom's bestfriend is dying and you're ruining their family?????
tbh i just hate the show altogether both season s are as bad
I mean she's 16. I was worse
lol same
