Cool kit - My Mother the Car was from what I heard a show from the 60s where some dude bought an old 1920 something Porter and the ghost of his deceased mother started talking to him thru the car's radio If I had that 67 Continental I would definitely do it custom - Thank you for showing this to us
Very nice vintage kit. Thanks for showing it. My mother the car??? a really bad short lived sit com starring Jerry Van Dyke. Mom passed away & was reincarnated as a 1928 Porter. The model kit was bad too. AMT tried to pass off a Ford as the Porter.
WOW!!!!!!!! Excellent kit Jason!!!!!!! YES.......my mother the car was a 60's TV show that had a talking car.....it was a funny typical 60's sitcom. The man who was in the show was Jerry Van Dyke....he also played Luther on the 90's TV show Coach with Craig T. Nelson......which was another sitcom. Jerry Van Dyke was also the brother of actor Dick Van Dyke. I've never seen or even knew this kit existed..........I would build the HELL out of it......can't blame your friend 4 wanting 2 build it either Jason!!!!!!!!
Neat old Lincoln model! I'd be interested to see it when he's done building it. AMT made the Lincoln Continentals annually up until 1969, so this was a year that was modified to make next year's model. That vinyl was common in AMT models of the time. I have an original 63 Galaxie that has a piece of black vinyl with a pattern printed on it to cut out for floor mats, seat inserts, etc. I would imagine that piece was for the vinyl top since there isn't a pattern printed on it.
"My Mother The Car" was a 1065 sitcom about a man (Dave Crabtree) that finds that his mother reincarnated as a car. It ran for only 1 season, starred Jerry Van Dyke (Dick Van Dyke's brother). The car was a 1928 Porter Stanhope touring car but actually was a 1924 Ford model T built by George Barris to look like a 28 Porter. Dave's mother spoke to him through the radio.....except the original car would not have a radio.
Very nice looking kit. It should build into a neat looking model. Excellent condition for its age. My Mother the Car was a TV show in the 60’s. Other than that, I know nothing about it. Good video. Thanks for sharing.
Hi Jason I built the My Mother the Car "Porter" back in the day (circa 1967). The TV show was a major flop but the car was a modified Model T created by George Barris. The kit was molded in red and included a small container of paint and a brush to do the top and interior trim. The kit was based on AMT's 1927 Model T touring car kit. I bought an unbuilt kit on Ebay earlier this year and it is just as I remembered it. I live in southern NH so maybe you can check it out if we cross paths sometime
AMT Custom Spray Lacquers - I hung on to a can of that stuff for decades. I finally tossed it because the paint vanished, evaporated into nothing. I don't actually remember using the stuff.
Love those old vintage AMT kits. I bought a few clean build ups of the Lincon. Eventually I'll restore them. I remember My Mother the Car from around 1969. Can't believe the show was on over fifty years ago. I'm sure the episodes are on RUclips. I vaguely remember the 27 Porter kit. Thanks for sharing Jason.
Remembering watching My Mother the Car show as a kid and thinking it was stupid. Basically replaced Mr. Ed with a 1920 Porter. Mom thought I liked the show and bought me the kit. It was basically the ‘27 T Touring with a slightly different grill. Think it ended up with slicks and a parts pack blown hemi.
Yeah, it wasn't a well thought out premise for a series. Only got one season, from what I can remember about that it was just barely one season. I had that kit as well! It was a real Porter car, unless you were given something else. It was 55 years ago! Wasn't a particularly good kit anyway..
I totally agree Jason they're meant to be built they're not baseball cards. I would never rob myself of the experience of building a great kit so I could stare at the box on a shelf 👍
Very cool and interesting kit. I immediately had ideas when I saw it. Looking forward to seeing your sprint car done. Watch the mail. I'll be sending Ryan a shop card.
Cool review Jason. I think that stick on material was for putting on seats to make upholstery. Not sure though 1967 was a long time ago. LOL. Can't wait to see the sprint car with decals on it. Ron
I'd love to see the late sixties Lincoln kits, those are so long overdue, you could make some wild customs, if they even had a resin coupe & convertible as well, think of what could be built!!
Interesting kit. I haven't seen that one before. I've built the 1965 Continental, which has the options for convertible or wagon. "My Mother the Car" was a middle 60's TV show with Jerry Van Dyke (Dick's brother). It was a pretty short run show. Mom was a 1928 Porter. Unusual car to be kitted. The Wikipedia page does reference the kit made by Aluminum Model Toys (AMT).
AMT did the Lincoln Continental as an annual kit from 1958 to 1969, they changed year on year updating the previous years mold until the body style changed. The common kit that's still available pretty easily is the 65 convertible. The rest are long gone! That 67 is a very cool kit, I have several original AMT and Johan 1960s annual kits.
Wow! Thought I had subscribed to your channel months ago. Guess I missed it. That 67 Continental is a cool kit! Would love to have it myself to build. You'll have to show us how Dave did on it.
You’re welcome buddy!! I’ve actually been catching up on your videos this morning!! Great stuff, keep those videos coming!! I also try to keep update quick, but I tend to ramble 🤣
Hey Jason,, Way cool vintage Lincoln would love to see what you do with it,,, great video bro,, later,, Glen

I’d also do it custom!!
Sweet Lincoln Continental kit!!.. I don't think I've ever seen one!!

Actually the "Porter" really was a Model T customized by George Barris for the show
So far everybody says it was an awful show 🤣

Definitely not my style of kit, but very cool regardless!! Thanks for watching Chris!!
I'll have to check out Star City Scale Modeling out sometime ...
"The Car" was a horror movie back in the 70s.
That was a cool movie!!

Nice looking kit. Definitely a kit one should consider buying if it can be found for an affordable price. Thanks for sharing.
I have an AMT Lincoln Continental kit (I think it's a 66 Prestige Series) that's a convertible. I'd love to have the hardtop version to go with it.
Woooow!!! What a find. That kit is a real jewel!!!
Great video
Love looking at those old kits.....that's a cool kit BTW
Thanks man!!

Really cool new camera angle bro, thanks for sharing my that awesome kit

AMT Custom Spray Lacquers - I hung on to a can of that stuff for decades. I finally tossed it because the paint vanished, evaporated into nothing. I don't actually remember using the stuff.
I’d like to have even an empty can to display on my desk, they sound neat!
Cool kit thanks for sharing…. Build on 👍

Ok that sounds like something I’d do lol.
I remember the kit never got one a dallor fifty was hard to come by . Jerry Vandyk ,Dick Vandyck's brother played the son.
You can restore the clear "glass" by dipping it into clear liquid floor polish.
Great tip,thanks!!
Great video Jason. Have thee ‘66 Lincoln in my stash that’s virtually identical. This motivates me to pull it off the shelf and build it!
Go for it!!!
I totally agree Jason they're meant to be built they're not baseball cards. I would never rob myself of the experience of building a great kit so I could stare at the box on a shelf 👍
Cool kit. I know the 65 has been released a dozen times. Never seen a 67???? Again Cool kit!!! Nice shout out. Thanks for sharing
Thanks for watching brother!!

I have that same model kit .built it a long time ago.painted in red still in good shape.in it's case.
I'd love to see the late sixties Lincoln kits, those are so long overdue, you could make some wild customs, if they even had a resin coupe & convertible as well, think of what could be built!!
I’d like to see those too.
Hopefully you can share the finish product with us! Cool kit and thanks for sharing! Hard not to like a slab side Lincoln!
Awesome video Jason I always love vintage unboxing 😍
I figured you, and Matthew would like this video for sure lol!!

Wow! Thought I had subscribed to your channel months ago. Guess I missed it.
That 67 Continental is a cool kit! Would love to have it myself to build. You'll have to show us how Dave did on it.
Thanks for the sub man, I really appreciate it!!
That looks like MEL engine, Mercury, Edsel, Lincoln 462 cid up from the previous 430 cid. And it's all chrome!!!
PRO - STREET The Continental 🏆🏆🏆😜🤪😜🤪 God Bless All 👍👍 Gary.
Hell yeah!!! Great idea
Only 61-69 Lincoln kits to ever be re-issued was the 1965 (several times)
I built my Lincoln as a Custom Wagon
That's a car I'd love to have 1:1.🤟🤠👍
Me too!!
The Lincoln Continental kits were available until 1969 so they could be built stock or custom
Thanks for the Sub
You’re welcome buddy!! I’ve actually been catching up on your videos this morning!! Great stuff, keep those videos coming!! I also try to keep update quick, but I tend to ramble 🤣
67 was a great year for car design...also my year of birth, just bragging LOL
