I agree! I've built a few of those too. They're very nice kits. Another little tip about the slicks, Once you've glued them together and sanded them paint them with Tamiya TS-82. That totally eliminates the seam and gives them a real tire look. I do this on all my builds. Great build! Love the color!

funny how lots of guys say you can't get a good paint job out of a can but just look at that kit nice looking build might need to add this to my lets build list thanks Tim enjoyed looking forward to the next video
That is such a cool build!!! I love old funny cars and gassers. Man that paint and clear came out really nice and glossy. I like how you left the hood red and didn't paint it black like the box art shows, either way is fine, but the car looks really nice all one color like that. I also like how you show what products you use like the clear glue for the glass. I use mod podge for gluing in the glass as it dries crystal clear also. Thanks for showing your body paint stand also, has inspired me to build one myself. I figure some wire coat hangers cut and bent and drill some holes in a wide flat piece of wood. Good build and thanks for sharing. Oh and I Love the last photo of the video showing the burnout with the cotton balls, I do that also. 😂 👍👍👍
I've never built this kit. I have an old Cop Out but it has never made it to the bench. Love the Flashpoint livery and hope to pick one up soon. Great Video Tim!!! Thanks for sharing
Thanks Mike, glad you enjoyed the vid! The Cop Out is a good ol' kit that you will have to build some time. Heck, maybe both of them/these at the same time.... 🙂
A very nice box stock build Tim. Some great tips for a nice clean build. A re-pop of a Monogram vintage kit. 1st released as the Mongoose or Snake funny cars. Good stuff Tim. Thanks.
Your doing a hell of a job on this channel. Your production quality is very well done. Had me a flex I file for some time and they are great for tubes. I sand my chrome seams first also..makes it a lot easier to see them. Great stuff, thanks for sharing.
Thanks Tim AWESOME build been using those tricks a long time in with some variations... ...like you I've built that kit many times and the 57 Chevy kit with the same chassis and still have one cop out version on the shelf...and one from the 90s unbuilt... That new release I got to get a few of them soon! And the cuda/challenger one!!
I had it as Tom McEwen's Mongoose along with the Don Prudhomme Snake 🐍 back in '71. A couple years later my neighbor got it as the Cop Out. Back then I didn't notice the wrinkle slicks molded in the right direction for one side. Guess it was because I was just thrilled to have these kits.

Hi Tim, great build enjoyed how you went about building and painting . I was wondering what you use for stripping the chrome parts. You seemed to get a great result. Thanks for your help
This kit actually started out in 1970 as the Monogram Hot Wheels Mongoo$e Duster Funny Car molded in Red Plastic with Blue tinted windows, Along with its Hot Wheels Snake 70 Cuda Team Car molded Yellow Plastic with Blue tinted glass also ,Through The years both have been reproduced with different decals and different box arts, They brought the original two cars back out as a 2-car set leaving out to Coca-Cola sponsorship on the quarter panels a few years ago, So this is basically the Hot Wheels Mongoo$e Duster with new decals.
Very cool! Never had this duster, but the chassis looks so familiar. Is it the same chassis with 57 chevy bloom crazy? I had that kit in the late 80's, very well designed easy to put together😎👍🏻
