You touched on several of my FAVORITE RPG's. One of my first games I ever delved into was Rhapsody on the PS1 - as a 12 year old girl, I loved playing as the heroine rescuing the prince haha. This was such a great throwback, thank you!
I am glad females had games like that to relate to. Us young men didn't know how good we had it when it came to identifying with the characters. Secret of mana always comes to mind, switching to the female characters was such a fun experience.
@@TonicofSonic the problem isnt identifying with the characters , anyone can identify with anyone. Its like, what, you can identify with a literal immortal elf wizard but not if they happen to be a woman kind of thing The problem is one of representation, which groups are deemed worthy of even being featured as meaningful capable characters with agency a game encourages you to identify with in the first place vs who gets to be a glorified quest item or sexy lamps. Whether a game shows that ppl like you can be equal member of the cast or whether ppl like you are to be side-lined/entirely absent Way too many games then and even now put women in the second category and has em as mostly non characters ineffectual love interests literal quest destinations or objects of sexual gratification. This not only sends the message to women that this space purposefully excludes them but also promotes a whole host of problematic beliefs about women Its no coincidence the experience of far too many women in gaming spaces is absolutely miserable, if they are allowed to exist at all instead of discouraged at any opportunity
Legend of Mana is one of my favorite games of all time, I randomly rented it from blockbuster one day as a kid and was blown away that games could just like…look, sound and play like rhat?? I can build the world myself? Choose my route? What?? It was almost overwhelming for real
It has a ton of depth too. If you don't have a guide you will miss out on a lot of quests and even skills due to how they're unlocked. Crafting is also insanely complex, but makes OP items if perfected.
With the length of these videos, the vibe, the intermission, I am getting strong Toonami vibes. Keep it up, you have some of the best long form video game content on the platform.
Thanks dude I really appreciate that. Toonami played a major influence on us growing up so I always thought it would be cool to make content that sort of gives off a similar vibe
I saw few videos a couple years ago and when I came back I saw the intro and was stoked. Not only cuz I was happy to see some legit toonami vibes but the over all growth of the channel. Thanks for all your hard works guys. I’m excited to see what comes from this next year.
Starting off with Legend of Mana told me you weren't messing around with this list. The whole video itself has a cozy and relaxing vibe to it, would have loved to have it play in the background while going to sleep but I was too invested in seeing what what next
Man, I'm playing Grandia 1 rn, and it's gotta be one of the coziest JRPs ever. Literally feels like you're playing an old school 90s anime. Game is so good. I love all the times you get to eat dinner, or camp out and talk with your party too.
Speaking of cozy, so glad I found this channel, The beats, chill vibe narration, and great editing and graphics, this channel ROCKS. And is cozy for the end of those stressful days. Kudos, Broductions.
I had some of the best memories hanging out with my cousin and caving in when we played Dark Cloud 2. He would play as Max and I'm Monica for all character specific dungeons, he would also do all the Spheda and Monster photo challenges while I catch, train the fishies and take photos all around each town. We would also brainstorm the heck out of those builder mode portions of the game and talk about it non stop when his parents made us dinner. Such a fantastic game, hope it gets ported on the Switch.
made me spoiled with villages and stuff in games. That game mastered the art of adding little things to the game. Each dungeon had things that made u want to complete it to get back to town
I absolutely love Legend of Mana. At first, when I tried playing it when it came out, I didn't like it much. But when I came back to it 3 years ago, I fell in love with it. It's a game that plays like no other game. It's beautiful, sounds lovely, and has a charm that is timeless. With Visions of Mana coming out soon, I'm ecstatic! I'd also like to see a Legend of Mana 2, as I believe it is deserving of it's own sequel. Also, did anyone else identify the statues in the palace as the 6 heroes from Trials of Mana?
17:24 I mean, it's very good, but I think The Thousand-Year Door or even the first Paper Mario is better. TTYD's writing is just on another level, and the combat is way more involved too. The different locations are way more varied as well. SMRPG is great, but I always felt like something was missing, like it's too simple. Story is fun and makes me laugh a lot, but it's some really simple writing that doesn't do much at all. Combat also gets very repetitive with very little tactics, but it's still fun, don't get me wrong. I would even say I like Bowser's Inside Story more.
Love these videos, been following for awhile and just binged most of your stuff to get all caught up. Yall inspired me to break out my PS Vita to playthrough Xenogears for the first time, loving it so far.
Blew my teen mind when I heard the title song of Legend of Mana being sung in my native language, Swedish :D I've always loved the game, and we had a piano arrangement of "Places of Soul" while my wife walked up the isle when we got married
I say this every video but that intro just hits so good. Love this channel and the list here is great. I wish I could replay all these for the first time again. One of my favorite cozy RPG’s is Guardians Crusade. Just a really nice, vibrate, easy rpg to play through.
Man, I just played trails in the sky 1 last year and it just blew me away. Aside from the slow opening, the game is a masterpiece. I've been hooked since then, and now I'm on game 5!
Lot of memories unlocking for sure with this list, lol. Mario 7 stars is tied for my all time favorite game with ff7, Legend of legaia 1, granida 1, and Star Ocean 2. Dark Cloud 1 and 2 are very special to me as well, such great games that i dumped 100s of hours into. Dark cloud 1 was even the first rpg i marathoned for over 25 hours straight. Played it without sleep for almost 38 hours, just got so sucked into it.
Those are some quality games as your favorite! SMRPG was my first RPG ever followed by Legend of Legaia so they’re some of my all time favorites as well, I played Grandia and SO2 pretty shortly after too and they’re definitely also up there
Yo, Legend of Mana! I played through that last year and had a blast with it. Hometown Domina is absolutely beautiful, so much so that I finally got around to making a 3DS theme of it. _(which sounds random, but I played LoM on my 3DS, so the two are sorta link in my head that way.)_
Yep all those are nice games. I think Steambot Chronicles Ever Oasis Ever Grace Fragile Dream:Farewell Ruin Of The Moon Rune Factory series Guardian Crusade Evolution The World Of Sacred Device as honorable mention too
Legend of Mana also got a 12-episode anime adaptation of one of its 3 storylines in 2022, which was one of the reasons the game got a modern console remaster lol
Dark cloud 2 is my favorite game of all time. Got a free copy when I was like 10 or 11 years old. I'm 32 now and still play it on emulators :) there is no bad part of this game.
Glad to see my favourite JRPG AND third favourite game of all time as the thumbnail. Its even better with a good friend, or partner, on the couch in co-op
I have legend of mana in every console I can. I will always support the game. I still listen to the amazing soundtrack, I love it to bits. I hope they continue the anime, it was so endearing to see the characters animated 💜
For me the coziest RPGs are ones where I can really lose myself in the grind or the adventure. Dragon Quest 9, Pokemon and Bravely Default are some great games to immerse yourself in and relax, especially because they were on the DS. Nowadays I really like Persona or Like a Dragon for how easy it is to drop in and play for a little bit, just walking around doing odd tasks or grinding in a dungeon
Oh my gosh threads of fate. For years I've written asking people to cover it. I played the demo a million times then like decades later finally the game.
Whenever Trails in the Sky got mentioned, I remember the time I played that game. It's just, warm feelings. The music, the artstyle, the characters, they are lovely.
I love you guys’ content and your at the top of my favorite RUclips channels. Keep up the great work and thank you for the hours of entertainment. I love the relaxed feel of your videos, and you have a great tone in your voice.
Legend of Mana was my summer one year when I was young. Got it used for next to nothing, and it blew me away. I saw someone write about it once that you don't so much play a story as much as the game just lets you live in the world for awhile and I think that is the perfect description.
Id include Atelier Ryza on here. I haven’t played 2 or 3, but the first game never really seemed to have high stakes. It felt more like a coming over age adventure, with SOME stakes lol.
Also, for people who have never played an atelier game, Ryza is a good one to start with. The alchemy mechanic in this game doesnt have a time limit like others do. Also, do yourselves a favor and listen to “Grain Rain, Wheat Wind” on and try not to vibe to that song!
Gotta say, that Toonami-like intro was **chef's kiss** It and the intermission are very well done. So few people can actually nail the vibe and presentation.
Breath of Fire 4 is cozy as heck for me. Sure its got a dark theme sometimes but the visuals, the music, the minigames and the fishing. I used to just load up a save just a chill and fish. Twilight Princess on Wii also. Love video game fishing.
Older RPGs that had campy activities you could do on the side made you feel more inside the world, instead of just playing through a main plot. It's what I always thought was going to happen with open world games, yet the vast majority of them almost completely leave out such things. So the environments are massive, but it's still just a main campaign with just more walking in between. I've been personally cobbling together a mid-sized 3d third-person, open world, prioritizing full interactivity with the environment. Fishing, foraging, hunting/combat, remedies, camping, exploration, etc. And every activity builds character skill and attributes, much like you see in Stardew Valley. Of course, I'm more into the Edgar Allan Poe feel, so the theme and story will be more melancholic, lonely, and horror........but with fishing!
I thought it was just me that felt this way about Legend of Mana. SOM even does this to me; getting trounced in a wintry forest to a beautiful crystalline theme. We can thank FF for even the word crystal sounding like a sound or a song :) it’s never been popular anywhere that I’ve seen except fringe but Jade Cocoon 2 is cozy to me. A huge little world all safe and contained to explore . Those colors are thankfully coming back, I see cartoon modern in a lot of great new app games (Phobies etc).
Trails in the sky, and SC (not quite finished SC yet) are just such good games. There's nothing flashy, just a good combat system, great music and probably the most fleshed out characters and world in any JRPG series I've played. They really are incredibly relaxing to play... Almost too relaxing, I find myself playing for 12+ hours without even thinking about it. There's something extra special about talking to every NPC at every opportunity. Yes it's made my playthrough of the two take about 50 hours longer than it would have otherwise but seeing all the little stories come together for each NPC has been so rewarding. The down time between story moments has just made it that much more relaxing to play. Can't wait to see what the rest of the series has in store.
Just subbed. Great video editing and dialogue. My wife is away for a week, so I'm going to hammer through sea of stars. My favourites have to be secret of mana, ff7, bog 3/4, legend of legia, damn most SNES and PS1 rpgs
Funny how you say that "By the time you played Trials in the Sky, I had already played most of the SNES, PS1 & PS2 classics" that's exactly how I feel about this game. I bought it for PSP ages ago, and until I can beat some of the other classics like Legend of Dragoon, Arc the Lad, Suikoden 2, Grandia 2, Star Ocean 2, etc I just have no time for this. But every other year they make a new one of these, I sort of feel like I'm missing out. Should I put this ahead of Star Ocean 2? Grandia 2, FFVI II?
Adventure of Mana for the PS Vita specifically is super cozy. I also really enjoyed Knight Quest for Gameboy. 5 hour game, but really easy to pick up and play. Dragon Quest 1 also deserves some love, 4-10 hour game, very simple, easy to play on switch specifically, but I did beat it on GBC as well.
Another cozy and relaxing JRPG is the Rune Factory series with a mix of life sim just like Harvest Moon and action RPG gameplay. Though graphically speaking it looks very colorful (colourful because I’m British) and relaxing as mentioned earlier with it’s life/dating sim elements.
Radiata Stories for PS2. It plays and unfolds like a bedtime story. It does have some heavy themes but never takes itself too seriously and is mostly very light hearted with a good sense of humour. Honestly the best recommendation I can make for a cozy jrpg.
Hey good video, nice find on the $5 PoPo LoCrois hell yea!!! I've played almost every one of these and enjoyed them quite a bit. One that I haven't gotten to is Rhapsody: A Musical Adventure. Judging from what you've said, and my own intuition, I think I'd probably enjoy that if I were a male that was interested in being in a loving partnership with another male. But I'm not, so I may just pass. Looking forward to the next video!
Relaxing is subjective for sure so I think Vandal Hearts would have ever so slightly passed Tactics Ogre as my number 1 just for the sheer spattering of blood geysers! One may wonder how those two games of very serious issues based on totalitarian regimes and civil wars could be relaxing.... My answer...the music! Uncharted Waters 1 & 2, while not really "RPGs" in the sense of the games you listed (or I mentioned) are relaxing in a completely different type of way.... I think lists like this are important for the simple fact it gives people another perspective on a genre that we are all clearly very fond of. This is a great addition to your first one and because of that, now we'll be expecting a playlist started for "Relaxing RPGs" and the like. 😆 Keep up the quality work!
Azure Dreams still keeps my own record record "playing 1 game almost non-stop" (22h) and since I'm older I'm not sure another game will break this record. That 22h weren't actually relaxing :DD
Interesting. They made the Super Mario RPG Remake easier than the original. Not sure I like that myself, but I guess it's good for jrpg newcomers. Anyway, I enjoyed the video. Lot of great memories with these games. :)
OMG i forgot about Dark Cloud 2. Once you showed the 'golf' part of the game, I knew I remembered it. I LOVED this game. I don't remember much of the details of the game but I do remember what I felt playing this game. Damn now I want to play it again.
Trails in the Sky like many Falcom games until Ys Seven was actually developed for the PC first and then was later ported to the PSP. Falcom was a PC developer developing most of their titles of the PC-88, PC-98, and later Windows before switching to console development. The version on Steam is the original Version of Trails in the Sky translated.
Popolocrois really does seem like Dragon Quest meets Earthbound! One of these days I'll play the Rhapsody games as well as Trails in the Sky. One of my favorite cozy jrpgs has got to be Digimon World, it just screams cozy all around.
azure dreams are one of those games that would've been a hit if it was released a few years later roguelite wasn't really a trend back at that time, people would probably want an adventure RPG where you can explore on the outside. as time passes, the games get repetitive a players actually find fun on games like those (RTS games, FPS games, and the now MOBA games) you can include party games.
Just finished Legend of Mana for the first time... I used to play with my sister al the time but never got to finish it, till 20 years later XDD. Same with Valkyrie Profile, just finished :D. On Chained Echoes now
If you haven't done yet you definitely should check out Breath of Fire 3 for ps1. It's an absolute gem, immersive story, lovely characters, nice game mechanics like turning a character into different hybrid dragons and all that in such a nicely crafted colorful world. So worth a try! Nice channel btw.
Love to see Legend of Mana starting off this list, but even so, I feel you didn't quite express the extent of the game's coziness! First, I would say the open quest structure is key to its coziness. It kind of feels like a game full of sidequests, with an appropriate range of tasks and vibes. While the main plots can get serious, a lot of the quests are just helping somebody out with something pretty low-stakes. Second, the game has an amazingly cozy core gameplay loop. You go out, do a quest, and then come home to tell your cactus about it and check on your pets and your garden before heading out for the next quest. In a way, it's a predecessor to a host of RPG/farming hybrid games!
Guardian's Crusade for PS1! Haven't played it as an adult so I'm not sure how well it has stood the test of time, but I have a deep nostalgic history with that game. Also, Tomba! Action platformer with heavy RPG elements.
One game I would add to this list is Tales of Vesperia. Once you learn and practice the combat nothing is overly difficult especially if you just play on normal for a fun time. The story is simple, the characters are charming and while yes, there's an evil empire to take down it never takes itself too seriously. Half the story points devolve into "Oh no, the bad guys are winning!" Yuri: "ouch, bummer, well let's go beat them then."
I've played Legend of Mana on PS2 and took me half of the game to finally hit me that this was a PSOne title. That's how good the graphics are. People talk about Chrono Cross and Final Fantasy, but for me, the visuals for this game is just perfect.
oh my god I've been trying to find more cozy games that doesn't have to be farming sims like HM and I found the perfect video definitely 100% playing dark cloud 2 and raphsody 😍 and you deserve more subs!

It's not just the incredible soundtrack that makes Legend of mana so cozy; the entire audio design is magic.
The whole game is magic tbh
agree!! the whole game is like a fairy tale comes to life
Dude, that audio and music design. Still appears in my dreams. So good.
Also Saga Frontier 2 has the same vibe with legend of mana 🫶❤️
The music, the watercolor artwork, the characters made from inanimate objects given life takes it all
You touched on several of my FAVORITE RPG's. One of my first games I ever delved into was Rhapsody on the PS1 - as a 12 year old girl, I loved playing as the heroine rescuing the prince haha. This was such a great throwback, thank you!
I was surprised by the DS version a few years ago
I need to pick that back up
I am glad females had games like that to relate to. Us young men didn't know how good we had it when it came to identifying with the characters.

Love those intermissions, man. Your channel is one of my favorites for its aesthetics alone (and for everything else)
Appreciate that dude 💯
Legend of Mana is one of my favorite games of all time, I randomly rented it from blockbuster one day as a kid and was blown away that games could just like…look, sound and play like rhat?? I can build the world myself? Choose my route? What?? It was almost overwhelming for real

Love to hear that. Thanks for the kind words and glad to hear you’re enjoying the content!
This video feels like Christmas morning
Woah Azure Dream!? I was literally playing it yesterday waiting for the new Shiren game :)
The Shiren series is another good one!
I had some of the best memories hanging out with my cousin and caving in when we played Dark Cloud 2. Love that. Those sound like some great memories dude
made me spoiled with villages and stuff in games. That game mastered the art of adding little things to the game. Each dungeon had things that made u want to complete it to get back to town
Love how you started the list off with Legend of Mana. Truly a masterclass in coziness. Earthbound for Snes, Wild Arms 2 are kinda cozy too !
I think grinding is cozy. It's nostalgic for me (grew up with NES/SNES RPGs) and I even like it today as a way to control 'difficulty'.
Same here. It's so relaxing to just sit back and "relax" one's way through a game.
I absolutely love Legend of Mana. At first, when I tried playing it when it came out, I didn't like it much. But when I came back to it 3 years ago, I fell in love with it. It's a game that plays like no other game. It's beautiful, sounds lovely, and has a charm that is timeless.

I will forever shill Dark Cloud 2. Absolutely brilliant. I'm still waiting for the day we see Dark Cloud 3 😢
Patiently waiting 🤞

I say this every video but that intro just hits so good. Love this channel and the list here is great. I wish I could replay all these for the first time again. One of my favorite cozy RPG’s is Guardians Crusade. Just a really nice, vibrate, easy rpg to play through.
Thank you! Yeah Guardian’s Crusade is another super comfy one, love how chill and easy going it is. We featured it in part 1 I think
Legend of Mana is a SaGa game in disguise. Love it! Also, it’s about time somebody gave recognition to Magical Starsign. Such a great early DS game.
Man, I just played trails in the sky 1 last year and it just blew me away. Aside from the slow opening, the game is a masterpiece. I've been hooked since then, and now I'm on game 5!
I just finished FC this week. I am now 2 chapters into SC and quite hooked.
Popolocrois was one of my favorite joints on the PsP, very great gem you listed there.

Ooohhh man would I love a new Legaia game! Or at least ports of the two games.
I feel the exact same about Dark Cloud 1/2. Dark Cloud was my first ps2 game, and I had easily over 100 hours on DC2 as a kid. Great Video!!
Thanks dude! Both of us here played the Dark Cloud series a lot ourselves as kids and have some great memories with them
Magical Vacation is really good, definitely recommend!
I love Legend of Mana so much, probably my favorite JRPG. Not the objective GOAT for sure, it's not for everybody. But it's _definitely_ for me.
I think
Steambot Chronicles
Ever Oasis
Ever Grace
Fragile Dream:Farewell Ruin Of The Moon
Rune Factory series
Guardian Crusade
Evolution The World Of Sacred Device as honorable mention too
Legend of Mana also got a 12-episode anime adaptation of one of its 3 storylines in 2022, which was one of the reasons the game got a modern console remaster lol
Legend of Mana, Magical Starsign, and Rhapsody. They brought me a lot of memories. Why my vision is all watery, somebody must be cutting onion.
Dark cloud 2 is my favorite game of all time. Got a free copy when I was like 10 or 11 years old. I'm 32 now and still play it on emulators :) there is no bad part of this game.
Stesmbot Chronicles btw is THE "cozy" jrpg. Nothing compares except for maybe the legend of Heroes series.
Glad to see my favourite JRPG AND third favourite game of all time as the thumbnail. Its even better with a good friend, or partner, on the couch in co-op
Dark chronicle goes definitely in the cozy category..Very chill game.I Still have ps2 copy that I play occasionally.
I have legend of mana in every console I can. I will always support the game. I still listen to the amazing soundtrack, I love it to bits. I hope they continue the anime, it was so endearing to see the characters animated 💜

Did you review evolution for Dreamcast? Pretty cozy if I recall correctly
Yep that one was featured in our part 1 actually
The only person who ever brought up Azure Dreams to me in conversation was Psycho Mantis
Can’t love these videos enough! So hyped
I love you guys’ content and your at the top of my favorite RUclips channels. Keep up the great work and thank you for the hours of entertainment. I love the relaxed feel of your videos, and you have a great tone in your voice.
Thanks for the kind words dude! Really appreciate that and glad to hear you’re enjoying the content
i am no fan of action JRPG but Dark Cloud 2 loved everything about it.
Legend of Mana is one of the best games of all time. The battle mode essentially switches into an arcade beat em up.
Let's go!!!
Best channel ever
TRAILS TRAILS TRAILS TRAILS TRAILS TRAILS TRAILS. IM 11 games in someone grant me death!
Hey go easy on beyond the beyond .
I love me some cozy JRPGs. Help keep me sane (relatively).
Dark Cloud 2 is very underrated game. I hope we get a 3rd made by level 5. Another great video🔥🔥🔥🔥.
Legend of Mana was my summer one year when I was young. Got it used for next to nothing, and it blew me away. I saw someone write about it once that you don't so much play a story as much as the game just lets you live in the world for awhile and I think that is the perfect description.
Here for Dark Cloud 2, my favourite PS2 jrpg.
Perfect timing as I’m getting myself cozy at this very. Appreciate the dedication guys.
No problem, thanks for watching!
magical starsgin's ending is actualy sad. just play it guys.
Id include Atelier Ryza on here. I haven’t played 2 or 3, but the first game never really seemed to have high stakes. It felt more like a coming over age adventure, with SOME stakes lol.

Your videos are quite great and cozy in themselves.
Thanks dude 💯
Rhapsody is such a charming game. We desperately need more JRPG musicals.
I would add Fantasy Life 3DS to the list.
If you haven’t heard of super Mario rpg, then I will fight you. That’s no lie.
You got me as a party member
Grew up playing Legend of Mana. JFC its such a comfy game and the music hits the nostalgia button for me hard.
I was really hoping to see Final Fantasy Tactics Advance or A-2
Ah man those would be some good ones to talk about in future videos, nice picks
Your video is cozy my man
Thanks dude 💯
Awesome overviews. Thanks!
Legend of Mana was one of the best I ever played back in the day.
Dark Chronicle 2 is criminally underrated. It is, quite possibly, one of the best RPGs ever to me.
I enjoyed the intermission.
Legend of Mana is my favorite game of all time, so seeing the thumbnail I had to click as fast as possible!
That Legend of Mana game I had to watch a walkthrough to help me beat it but so worth it. Make sure you add Radiata Stories PS2 to one of your lists.
It’s an amazing list of games ❤ I’ve played Mana back in the day on Ps One and still having warm feelings whenever I see it’s gameplay 😊
thanks for the heads-up on Azure Dreams! I didn't know there were other games like Torneko on PS1
Love your content man. Glad to see Mario RPG on the list. Mushroom Kingdom is peak comfy
This channel is so goated
Great vid brother
Thanks man!
I just watched the first cozy RPG video and was about to suggest Dark Cloud, Azure Dreams, and Super Mario RPG, so good job reading my mind.
One of my favorite cozy jrpgs has got to be Digimon World, it just screams cozy all around.
azure dreams are one of those games that would've been a hit if it was released a few years later
roguelite wasn't really a trend back at that time,
people would probably want an adventure RPG where you can explore on the outside.
as time passes, the games get repetitive a players actually find fun on games like those (RTS games, FPS games, and the now MOBA games)
you can include party games.
People talk about Chrono Cross and Final Fantasy, but for me, the visuals for this game is just perfect.
oh my god I've been trying to find more cozy games that doesn't have to be farming sims like HM and I found the perfect video
definitely 100% playing dark cloud 2 and raphsody 😍
and you deserve more subs!
