I've dyed my hair honey blonde, green, red, and orange....I'm so here for this....my Natural hair is fairly healthy.....I'm so here for this thanks Jalen
Terri Jones I dyed my hair recently for the first time and instead of it coming out purple it came out like a berry red/purple color, could you tell me where I went wrong w/ the color not turning out right??
Issa Tomboy Coloring hair can be complicated, you should do some more research on coloring and color itself. Purple is made from a range blue and red. Different amounts/ratios of red and blue pigment decide the hue and intensity of the purpled. Natural dark hair tends to have yellow/orange/reddish undertones especially when you lighten it and remove the brown/black melanin. that could be why the color leaned more towards a reddish color. To achieve the exact color, you want little other pigments that can affect the light reflection of the dye. Bright Purple can be difficult to achieve for some people and often requires a good bleaching/color removing first.

I want to dye my hair though so I've been watching numerous videos before doing it. And this is my first time dying it.
You saved my life with this video . Very thorough and very detailed. It just trumps, everything I was questioning when going from my naturally dark colored hair to the extreme blonde. I mean i was about to leave to go to the store. And I said let me just check to see what worked for someone else with more of the similar texture to mine. Thanks , You Rock!!!

That point you made about the three types of porosity low, medium and high as you mention it varies how long you change your hair color especially when it lifts. I'm watching this because I want to dye my hair as form of self care, I want my new hair color to be semi permanent because I don't want to damage my hair. My hair is healthy and my hair type is oily and I have black hair. I wash my hair every few days to keep it clean, hydrated, and healthy. My choice of color is dark magenta. I almost forgot to mention, I take care of my hair well I wash my hair every few days probably between 4-5 days and I make sure I thoroughly clean my scalp with shampoo, and condition my hair last and I dry my hair with a towel to avoid hair damage I avoid hair dryers and flat ironing because I don't see myself using it unless I'm in a rush. Normally. I let my air dry because I am airy. Just kidding. I do air dry my hair often to avoid damaging my hair and before I wash my hair I detangoe my hair with a comb or brush.
I've been red since I been natural. I only dye my once a year and when I do dye my hair I do it on stretch hair so I can get my roots. Then I go behind with it semi permanent rinse for my ends. I only straighten my hair 3x a year just to see my ends so I can trim them. I do protein treatments twice a month and I deep conditioning every wash day.
Thanks for these tips! I haven’t dyed my hair since I have been natural actually and I really want to dye my hair purple I always wanted to try color on my natural curls I’m just afraid my hair will get damaged but I think I’m going to try these tips out. Lastly, your hair is so beautiful 😍

So I just recently dyed my hair ginger/orange I lifted it first before dying it orange with the box dye then I also used a semi permanent dye color called Cajun spice its vegan and it worked so well So far my hair still looks healthy and good I make sure to keep it moisturized daily with oil cos I flat ironed my hair so until I'm ready to go back to natural 8ve been using native hair oil
Oh shi- 3years I commented this😮 Update I guess, sin never got around to dyeing my hair😂 But I'm back to this video cause now Im FINNALY gonna dye my hair
I'm very guilty of this. I got my hair colored 2 yrs ago red from black. It had to be lifted. I thought she knew what she was doing. She came highly recommended. Here it is 2 yrs later I went from bra strap hair to top of ear length. So red is my favorite color. I'm dealing with my big chop but miss my red. Once the red wore off it left an orange color now it's blonde on top in the middle like a mohawk. I chopped so much off it ain't funny. We live & learn. Thank you for sharing your information!❤
I'm going to dye my hair a ruby red tomorrow and I really hope my curls live, I don't wanna go from type 3 to type 2. I think they'll be okay though because of your advice. Thank you so much. 💗
Hey girl! So how did it go? Because I am also planning on going ruby red either today or in a few days and I am using adore hair dye. I too have natually type 3 virgin hair and want to ensure that it doesn’t get damaged. Also, how did the color turn out on your hair? Help a girl out plsss
@@joelletab4626 It actually went great! My hair looks just as healthy and it picked color up really well. My hair turned out so nice, literally everyone compliments me at school! I actually had some balayage done a year ago, so I already had lighter ends than my roots, but my hair was relatively dark. So if you have dark hair, expect a deep red at home and a vibrant red in the sun. Just make sure you concentrate the dye on every strand and you take care of your hair as usual. Maybe add extra treatments like conditioning products. If you'd like, I could show you pictures on instagram or Snapchat. Good luck! 💗
Girlll, i was so stupid. I straightened my hair and coloured it the week after going curly again. Its been 2 months and i just have straight hair in the front. Tryna figure out how to save my hair without cutting it😭

i actually lost my hair and had a huge bald spot trying to dye my 4c hair lol i don’t think i’d ever do it again unless i find a professional who knows how to work with 4c hair
Needed to see this! Dyeing my hair this weekend, super nervous. 8 years ago, after constant bleaching/highlights and straightening my naturally curly dark hair I decided to go natural. That was in 2013, don’t get me wrong the first few years I’d straighten my hair 2-4 times a year and diffuse it. However, it’ll be two years next week that I haven’t straightened or applied heat to my hair🎉 I’m proud of myself lol cause chile straight hair is tempting af 😂 In 2017 I finally decided to dye my hair again but was very cautious. I did the ombré and very gradually went lighter, took me like almost two years to get it light (Carmel/blonde). Due to Covid, I couldn’t get my hair done anymore. So I decided to get a box and die my hair chocolate brown. And I’ve dyed it twice now since going dark. It’s been very liberating not needing to worry about root touchups and My hair was very healthy even with highlights, because I only got touch ups. Never had my stylists go through my entire hair. Anyway now as a brunette, I have a grown bored with this color and I’ll be turning 32 next week and really want a change. I’ve been wanting red hair again, I had it very red (magenta/red) when I was a teen. But I always straightened my hair then, I think my hair will look so good now because it’s curly and for the most part very healthy. Thanks for the tips, I’m so nervous but I am going to definitely make sure that I do deep treatments and not straighten it or anything lol I’ve come too far!
Happy birthday btw, I'll be 32 on the 20th! I was just looking for the color I had in high school too! Just thought that was funny and had to say hello to a fellow '89er looking for a change! Lol!😄😊
I got my hair done by my auntie and she’s a professional and my hair got damaged as f*ck it was ugly kinda dry I was thinking about cutting it and start over, I used to feel really ugly cuze my hair use to get a lot of compliments as you can imagine at college . But I didn’t cut it and wait till it got better and now I’m here with my hair and people just love it 😊 💓.
Very helpful. I am thinking of doing the peroxide thing and then going dark purple, but didn't want to just jump into it because I'm also trying to grow my hair.
I’ve done every color when I was really short now I’m letting it grow out. It’s growing good. I rather do my own. You learn that way. Deep conditioning is important right after. My hair is naturally curly I’m here for this. Can’t wait till it get your length ❤
I was on the right track then, since I only want to dye mines mahogany or purple🤣😂. Chocolate brown was even an option way before I ever thought of blonde. But I have definitely have had some experience with these things before when I dyed my hair the first time, in which I dyed it red when I originally did the big chop. I have always had the routine of deep conditioning my hair after every wash. Although, my definition of a deep conditioner is a lot different than everyone else's. I usually don't use deep conditioners themselves because they irritate my terribly sensitive skin or make my hair feel like it's as dry as a bone afterwards. So I use my regular conditioner as a deep conditioner, I just leave it on for 30 minutes or so and then wash it out. Afterwards, I lock in the moisture from the water with oils or use a water based moisturizer with water and oils. This has allowed me to maintain my hair for the longest, but I learned this over time not right away. I feel like my hair is in good condition considering the fact that I have paid a lot of attention to it by avoiding heat, damaging styles, and color, but I do wonder sometimes. I may be in desperate need of a trim, but I have little to no trust in hairdressers because of a past trauma where I had patches of hair falling out, I also haven't attempted it myself either. It's going on four years and I'd be lying to say I'm not worried. And just when I found a stylist that I felt like I could trust Rona got in my way.
I let my grandma lighten my hair to like a honeycomb color like literally if u google a honeycomb it’s that color, I was really scared that I caused REALLY bad damage but my curls kept coming back so this video helped me keep my cool.
I’ve been wanting to dye my hair but is been doing so well and it’s so healthy, shiny, and springy. I’m medium to high porosity but I heard so many youtubers say their regular products stop working after they dye their hair have you noticed any of your favs not working for you anymore

I’m so glad I found this video before I tried it because I would’ve been so upset when I realized the color didn’t show up 😂😂.
I just started dying my hair this year. I used box dye both times though. My curls always remained intact. My hair is short though so 🤷🏽♀️
thank you so much. my friend asked me to dye her hair but i have no experience dyeing a hair of her texture before and i want to make sure i dont mess it up
So I just recently dyed my hair ginger/orange I lifted it first before dying it orange with the box dye then I also used a semi permanent dye color called Cajun spice its vegan and it worked so well
So far my hair still looks healthy and good I make sure to keep it moisturized daily with oil cos I flat ironed my hair so until I'm ready to go back to natural 8ve been using native hair oil
How is your hair today? Just remember, oil is not moisture, water is!
Wow, her hair is GORGEOUS! I love it💕 I'm thinking of dying the ends of my 4c hair, and now I'm doing all the research😆
Good luck! 💗
@@gloxx02 thanks so much for the help!!
@@joelletab4626 Of course
Girlll, i was so stupid. I straightened my hair and coloured it the week after going curly again. Its been 2 months and i just have straight hair in the front. Tryna figure out how to save my hair without cutting it😭
Naomi Lindveld try olaplex number 3, it’s not cheap but it works because I did the same thing smh 🤦🏽♀️ I wear twist outs to hides the damage and put perm rods on the ends to help encourage the curls
Omg I’m so glad I seen this because my hair is straightened and I was going to dye it next week 🤦🏾♀️
There's no way to save it sadly you could take care of the roots until it gets to a decent size then cut out the ugly or damaged parts
Transition that part then gradually trim it
And you’ll be bougie
I thought this video was really helpful and realistic! Thank you for making it💗
I deep conditioner every wash day too! ❤️❤️❤️
i actually lost my hair and had a huge bald spot trying to dye my 4c hair lol i don’t think i’d ever do it again unless i find a professional who knows how to work with 4c hair
I bleached my hair and I’ve noticed my hair absorbs products so much better. I had heavy dense low porosity before the blond
I am in love with your hair. It looks so pretty.
Girl your hair is larger than life!! Love it!!! 😍❤❤❤
Lol!😄😊
@@KinaBoo20 Hello and thank you! 😊 I dyed my hair and am sooooo happy I did. I love the change. What color did you have in high school?
I got my hair done by my auntie and she’s a professional and my hair got damaged as f*ck it was ugly kinda dry I was thinking about cutting it and start over, I used to feel really ugly cuze my hair use to get a lot of compliments as you can imagine at college . But I didn’t cut it and wait till it got better and now I’m here with my hair and people just love it 😊 💓.
Thanks for thus video. My parents are letting me dye my hair copper this summer. But I’m not bleaching it. Definitely taking tips.
Very helpful. I am thinking of doing the peroxide thing and then going dark purple, but didn't want to just jump into it because I'm also trying to grow my hair.
Thank you for sharing this valuable information
Your hair looks gorgeous 😍
Thank you boo!! 😘❤️
I’ve done every color when I was really short now I’m letting it grow out. It’s growing good. I rather do my own. You learn that way. Deep conditioning is important right after. My hair is naturally curly I’m here for this. Can’t wait till it get your length ❤
Omg yes!!! The aftercare is so important. I’m abt to do a skunk stripe today. Lowk scared.
I was gonna dye my hair burgundy this year, but thanks to your helpful video I have decided to wait a year or two. 😊🙏
So thankful for this vid!! I just dyed my hair 3 days ago so I need all the tips I can get
You would post this right after I just died my hair. Needed this yesterday. 😂 love u tho ❤️
I LOOOOOOOOOOVE YOUR PERSONALITY 😭❤️
I let my grandma lighten my hair to like a honeycomb color like literally if u google a honeycomb it’s that color, I was really scared that I caused REALLY bad damage but my curls kept coming back so this video helped me keep my cool.
I’ve been wanting to dye my hair but is been doing so well and it’s so healthy, shiny, and springy. I’m medium to high porosity but I heard so many youtubers say their regular products stop working after they dye their hair have you noticed any of your favs not working for you anymore
I was awesome as a red head; I died as a blonde ~ Signed, My Hair
😂😂
Exactly!!!
I've always wanted to dye my hair dark red, thank you so much !
thank you for this tips, ive never died my hair yet and was thinking of doing it next year by a professional, i learnt a lot in this vid :)) subbed btw!
The only thing that got my curl pattern back was cutting off all the damage 😩 I'm still trying to get used to my hair being much shorter
These were some really great tips sis!! Be safe!! ❤️❤️❤️
I have 4b high porosity dark brown hair and I want to go to honey blonde with a box dye , Will I be able to do that without my hair being damaged
#ReignGang!!!🙋🏾♀️💜 Love this and stay Safe out there love.
Beautiful, clear and articulate. Yes, Sis...love the hair! New subbie here.
Just exactly what I needed cus I want to color my hair but I worked soooo hard to get it to waist length and I’m scared coloring it will ruin my hair. Thank you
Girllllll wow wow I love love your hair the thickness came across this because I was searching for hair dying and boom I clicked on it
Love you explanation
Watching from FIJI🇫🇯
Semi permanent is a great tip💯 thanks
I have a question! Did you dye your hair from root to tip? Are your curls at the roots tighter than your curls on your ends due to the new growth?
I just decided to cut off my damaged dyed ends but now I want color again😂 but I want like a chocolate brown color (my hair is naturally black) but I’m scared I’ll damage my hair again even though the color I want isn’t that bright
Thank you sooo much sis, i have very low porosity hair, it doesnt get wet and doesnt takes products well. Ive been natural all my life. Never dyed my hair and my hair is dark brown. I just want some color and been scared of the horror stories of breakage.
Thinking of dyeing my hair for the first time. Natural colour to blonde. Glad that I came across this video.
Omgoodness your hair is soooooooo everything 😲😍😍😍😍😍
i have dark brown hair and I used a semi permanent, it made my hair like a purple/maroon
❤️im really really grateful for this
Im just going to dye my hair using Inecto red dyes, NO BLONDE NO BLEACH
im also scared of going to the hairstylist, the last time i went there a section had f my hair got heat damage, my curl pattern was gone😭i had to cut it off, i’ll do it myself 😌
I don’t straighten my hair at all😂so i guess i’ll be ok 👍🏾 my only worry is searching for hair fibres😭i heard it can really be challenging
My hair porosity went from low to medium😫😫 damn I wish I knew to use a semipermanent to get the color I want😥😭😭
Am thinking of dyeing my hair and i have learnt alot.thank you
Aww no 🥺 I just bought adore hair dye yesterday I was so excited to dye it today 😂. I’m so glad I found this video before I tried it because I would’ve been so upset when I realized the color didn’t show up 😂😂. I just got my hair back healthy & I’m not consistent with deep conditioning yet so I’ll give it a couple months before permanently dying my hair again lol.
Decided to go from a dark brown/ dark auburn to blonde 😂 this video helped a lot. Ik I’ll probably damage my hair some more but wish me luck
Thanks Jalen for the video very informative! Your hair as always is bomb!!
This is awesome information, thank you so much! Your hair is gorgeous!! ❤
I’ve been dyeing my hair red since I was 18. I love being a red head ❤️❣️💋
IM looking into dyeing my hair red. How did you do it?
@@lonzetta-kelleyallen8596 same
Corona virus is finishing in China while it's getting global 😒. I've always loved colored hair but people keep discouraging me not to try it out. With these great tips I guess I'm ready to do it. Im I'm tired of mofajiang hair paint wax. Thanks so much for these tips ❤️
So happy I came here my hair is brown I was about to go blonde but now I’m just going to go jet black or midnight black. I have low porosity hair atleast I think it’s low
You’re hair is beautiful!
Thank youuuuu~~~. Came out right when I was about to buy some black dye lol. (I'm still doing it, it's just semi permanent :))
You are absolutely adorable. Thank you so much, I learned a lot.
I fell in love with your hair!!! 😩💕
Your hairs a work of art 🙏🦋💙🥰
Wow sis, your fro is everything! stay safe❤️❤️
You forgot giving your strands a soak for a day in coconut oil before the bleaching... Been a coloring diyer on my own for 10+ yrs. Protects the cuticles and follices from extreme damage.
what products do you use to lighten your hair? is it always the same for the most part?
