Do people forget about Justin Bieber? He was young, blonde, and sang about girls is the same way. I don't like him personally but I respect the fact that he made it big off shit like this. Plus mason is 11 and idk if it was just me but that was 6th grade and I had a bunch of gf that year, one being my first kiss and yes I thought I was in love lol. My point is I probably could of related to this at his age. I think as we become older we forget the way we felt as a kid.

Honestly? I wish they pushed more into the old school and he actually yodled in this, it'd be interesting seeing them trying to branch the path between that and something contemporary rather than him just singing pop country that any current country artist could do. It's clear his influences are older than that.

The FGL co-writing is pretty obvious; they've been at the forefront of those purveyors of pop-country that is a bit...too much bro-country, for my taste. Hopefully he'll gain positive experiences and become a grand musician in his own right. I can only hope he'll be the one to, one day, bring about the sincerity and tradition needed to revive country music as a genre. He's surely a talent!

There’s kind of a genius to the song choice, honestly. Disregarding the catchiness and stuff, this is a song that he’s still going to be able to perform in five, ten, fifteen years. It’s easy to cover, since most people can relate to it on some level - which means free advertising, and it’s just kinda fun. There’s a novelty to little kids acting like grown ups.
I’m 26 years old, I have a five year old son. We both love the song. My son loves it for the fact it’s a kid singing, and I love it because it’s adorable. It’s crossing age barriers better than a lot of artists can.

Yea but its really not THAT bad or cringey, its just a good all-around pop country song relatable enough to everyone kids/teens and adults... If he made a country song about playing with Lego's, watching cartoons, and eating fruit snacks, popsicles and drinking sippy cups at day care, not alot of people over ten years old can relate to that, or would take him/music serious and that could actually purchase the records... But your right give him a few years, he will really grow into it and make that kind of lyric really special... He's going to do great in country music, not a lot of young up and comers in that genre that have grabbed the worlds attention, especially at that age and how he did, its a great thing and great story! Wish him well!

Hank Williams sr. the artist in which he covered at Walmart, lovesick blues was widely popular and the context of sweet daddy had a completely different connotation than it does today. Anyone who is a true country music fan would appreciate the fact that Mason has brought new life to such classic songs by one of the most iconic country stars to ever walk the earth

Just heard that it was co-written by Florida Georgia Line, and that was actually my first thought because of how ...cringey the lines were (it is less cringey coming from Mason's nuanced tone, honestly). FGL are among those purveyors of pop-country that have .. made country a bit too 'bro-country' for my liking. The earlier Hank Williams cover was different because it was a cover and the tone of the song was as if he was a mouthpiece telling a tale. Like you said, hopefully they'll find songs that suit him well, country music that has its roots and makes him happy.

Hey Tristan! Just now found your channel, and never really thought about channels like this existing in the first place, but somehow i ended up here, and i love it!
I didn't know what video was best to comment on, so i figured it's probably best to pick the newest one so that i have a better shot at you seeing my comment. Here's what i wanted to say. If you could make a video about Devin Townsend, that would be awesome. And here is why i think you should. Devin Townsend, is in my opinion the greatest musician of our time. He plays the instruments, he does every genre, and on top of that, his voice is just insane. But because he isn't a pop singing artist he isn't that well known. So i figured that it would be a great oppurtunity to look at some of the greats that people in my opinion SHOULD know about. His music is probably not your cup of tea, but if you can take that into consideration, i hope you will look at what he does.
So since you are most likely not that familiar with the guy, i suggest looking at "Devin Townsend Project - Kingdom (By a Thread 2011, Live in London)" This is a live clip, but maybe not as easy to review as your typical pop singer, but i figured that it is atleast worth the watch.
Another one to look at is the same song, but him singing it alone without the band "Devin Townsend performs 'Kingdom' for EMGtv" This one should be easier to review.
The third one i want you to listen to is "NAMM 2016: Devin Townsend Live At The Dunlop Booth" This is just him playing by himself and goofing around, but he does some insane stuff here.
Hope you'll take the time to really appreciate what i consider to be one of the greatest artists of all time.

But yes your right its hard to relate it to him because hes so young. Could sing country about his life as a kid at home and the things hes growing up doing. yo i had a question about pitch. When you get your pitch right on one note, should you stay in the same possition on all the notes so you dont have to learn pitches individually for each and every note
could you maybe do a video, or more videos ofcourse :P reviewing the voices of rock, hardrock or metal singers, a lot of the vocalists in that scene actually do have some softer songs and their voices clean up very nicely, personally i love that "held back" power that they have.

Just watch his interviews. He lives in a small village (700 people and Walmart) and his grandpa is the old fan of yodling and country music. He did his impressions of Hank Williams since very young age, and Lonesome blues is Hank`s signature song. You can see one of his tricks on Ellen (he for a moment acts like Hank and speaks about being country boy). He was locally famous since 6 years old, sang on local radio, and did 50000 concerts in that local Walmart. His kid is used to perform and that songs he sing I think his grandpa favourite songs. Its just the way he was raised for.
