The Panda has been an amazingly successful car for Fiat, especially here in Italy, where they are more common than pasta. They are cheap to buy and run, practical and great fun to drive. This all new car will be the first of a family of Pandas, which is weird as any zoologist will tell you it’s notoriously hard to breed them. These will include a bigger SUV, a coupe, and a mini-MPV. There will be a city car too, which will be the size you’d expect a Panda to be.
This one is called the Grande Panda and will arrive first in early 2025. The entire range of Pandas should be in showrooms by 2027.
That Grande name reflects the fact that it’s bigger than you might expect. It’s 3.99-meters long, which is a massive 30cm longer than the outgoing petrol Panda.
So it’s not a city car to rival the likes of the Dacia Spring and is more ‘supermini’ sized. That means it’s got to compete with the Renault 5,Hyundai Inster and BYD Dolphin. The price will be around £22,000 for the all-electric version - there will be a cheaper hybrid petrol too.
Fiat isn’t ashamed of its heritage and there are plenty of nods to the original boxy Panda from and the later models.
The Grande’s styling is a clever mix of the themes from the original 1980s Panda. Did you know that boxy first generation car was designed by the same man who did the Lotus Esprit, the original Golf and the, er, Ssangyong Rexton?
In homage to the classic Panda 4x4, the Panda letters are ‘embossed’ on the doors, and it has upright rear lights.
Under the bodywork, the Grande Panda shares its hardware with the Citroen e-C3. That’s no bad thing as it’s a car we like and helps keep cost low. This means we get a 44kWh battery, giving a range of 195 miles on the official test cycle. It will also have 100kW DC charging capability.
A clever little innovation is the tethered spiral charging cable, which promises to make the experience of plugging in easier and tidier. The Grande Panda is the first vehicle since the Renault Twizy to include an integrated charging cable, which works with AC chargers up to 7 kW. The spiral cable has a special housing in a hatch at the front of the car. This means you don’t need to carry a cable around in the boot and it avoids the grime of traditional cables.

Now that is how to do an EV refresh of a classic. Ford Capri take note. Love the outside detailing and that interior is absolutely fabulous. Yes it’s a clone of the e-C3 underneath but for once Stellantis have got this absolutely right.
This is so much more deserving of the Panda name than the new Ford Capri abomination.
Looks better than the Capri but it's still a terrible car for what it is man. Let's not hype it up because a competitor fell to land the mark.

@ISuperTed as someone who owned an original 1982 Panda, I love it. All the car you need at an affordable price. A great city or 2nd car.

At last, we are getting some seriously funky, interesting commuter boxes. I bloody love this. The embossing is simple and a stroke of ruddy genius. I want.
Which the whole point of the Panda always was, funky looking, affordable, no nonsense car. I wonder if they're gonna release AWD version and if it's going to be as good as the ICE in off-roading or it's going to be just a commuter car.
I dont love the stupid buttons for gear selection, along with the insane fat steering wheel,.
@@ristekostadinov2820 Max torque at low rpm, simple vehicle with small dimensions and no ICE to get waterlocked means this could be a very capable off roader with not alot of modification, in my opinion. The 4x4 Panda always punched above its weight and this could continue in the same way.

Commuter box? It’s an SUV
Having the cable fixed to the car is such a brilliant idea, and kind of obvious one after seeing it. I don't know why other cars haven't done it before

@aoh4905 sometimes you don't have easy access to your own cable..it'd be so much easier and faster this way
How is this useless? All of the type 2 chargers don't have cables built in. I think this is a brilliant idea.

That charge cable is brilliant. I wonder why luxury brands just dont give a damn about the customer and let you mess with a dirty wet cable which you need to connect every day. Thanks Fiat for innovating
Yeah ,now that was innovative someone actually had a light bulb moment with that in the design department.,
That front tethered cable is sheer genius. More cars should have that.
Definitely more convenient albeit costlier to replace should the cable break. But I don't know how often type 2 cables really need replacing.
Good in theory, only time will tell if it is robust enough for extended use

As a Fiat 500L owner who really wants to go EV at some point soon, I really like this!
I hope they build a non-Grande version as well. I'd love to see an even smaller Panda :)
In Italy they still sell the "old" 3.69 meters long Fiat Panda, but they have updated it with the latest ADAS, a digital cockpit and a touchscreen radio and they renamed it "Pandina" (literally "little panda") to distinguish it from the Grande Panda, in order to satisfy those who want the smaller panda but also those who want the larger one.

Nice EV, I thought of the Panda as "the box of Pandora" And indeed it is . . . sort of, with that cable at the front.
Same platform as the EV that we bought, . . . the ë-C3 Max.
Same battery, some engine and about the same size, same screen and same buttons and gear selector. Guess the chairs and suspension of the C3 will be better.
Probably the same price range.
The ec3 is cheaper, but the fiat looks much better and has better infotainment systems, also has recycled materials. Decently different for cars based on the same platform
I had an original MK1 Panda back in....well, whenever it was. It was utterly brilliant and did EXACTLY what it was designed to do, very well. Had one of the later models too, also excellent. Even today the Panda is still the best selling car in Italy.

That’s the nicest Fiat I’ve seen in years. Could be a Hyundai. And since Hyundai and Kia these days are so good, that’s means a lot. Pity about the rear legroom though … it seems to be the Stellantis blight! What a contrast in style with the revolting new Ford Capri!
I used to sell Fiats in the 90s and had the unstoppable panda 4x4. Most fun I ever have in a small car, it could go anywhere. There is more room in the back of the new one than there is in my Vauxhall Nokia e

Did the original panda look worse when it was released back in the day? Did people back then, looking at it through 1980's eyes really thought it looked bad?
I was born in the 80's and the original panda interior looked pretty nice back then

Also FIAT Uno had great interior with digital dasboard ,it was also produced with licence here in YUgoslavia and i wanted it so bad but did not have money

The cable thing is brilliant, having to mess around with my charging cable is the most annoying thing of my EV experience so far. I had thought of a similar solution but with a spring loaded drum like some garden hoses.
Not just cheap, but innovative as well and I hope more manufactures copy that charging cable solution. This is honestly so great. Also I love her enthusiasm, makes the car double exciting ❤

A proper car sized EV with decent specifications and pleasant styling back to simpler times. Looking forward to the drive reviews and to take one for a spin myself. I have an SUV and honestly regret it 90% of the times I drive.

@@milan51259 poor MPG, high tax and insurance, not that much space inside yet feels big on the road. It’s my first SUV and after this I’ll go back to small hatchbacks. This new Panda really appeals to me

Truly surprised about this, I had almost given up hope that FIAT would make anything other than a re-badge of another Stelatntis model, but this really is quite a charming and attractive little car, it is back on my list!
It is not a mere badge engineering, yet still a platform play (e-C3). Same for the two more bodystyles, an Aircross/Frontera long-wheel base (7-seater as ICE), a Citroën Basalt like SUV Coupé.
This is how u do it! Ford take notes! An awesome wee car. Always had a soft spot for the Fiat panda (had one years a 2007 model, it was like a mountian goat the thing cud and did go everywhere in all weather) loving this retro lool inside and out, well done Fiat.

I was not a massive fan of the original panda, but this I like. It's quirky without being too out there. Also relatively affordable.
I like it, but then I’m biased, I had a Fiat Punto and loved that, and my Dad had several Fiats, including a 1967 Fiat 500, so yes I have a soft spot for Fiats. I really hope it will be a reasonable and affordable price, ideally more or less the same price as an ICE Panda.

Not bad at all and it’s mileage is certainly a step up when you compare it to the Dacia you drove a short while ago. True, the Panda is more expensive (though still reasonably priced for an EV) but faced with the Dacia or the Fiat, I’d deffo choose the Fiat.
What a fab looking car, Fiat has really hit gold with this. I haven't seen pricing but I expect this will fly out of showrooms.
I know this is a more "basic" car but it's so good to see a car without a stupid, wasteful electric boot lid that adds extra weight and is completely unnecessary

Small cars aren't my thing but this looks cool. Fiat did a really good job, too bad it might not make it into the US.
It’s not particularly small.
This chassis is the basis of the $25K Jeep EV currently being touted by Stellantis. Unless there's a change of plan, you will see a US version in Jeep clothing.
I also hate small cars but for town small EVs makes most sense ,low price ,low consumption

Nice looking little car - waiting for ICE engine version (hopefully without terribly faulty 1.2 PureTech but something reliable, so that in 30 years these cars will still be running fine, just like original Pandas drive around villages in Italy today)
YOu are out off luck,stelantis put that engine everywhere .And before Engine was only thing that was great on FIAT ,on my mother Fiat Punto 2 1.2 engine was 500 000 km when we sold it ,car was falling apart but engine was still like i just started

Good preview of this nice Fiat Grande Panda. Love this Italian design better than the e-C3. Never before have I seen Nicola so enthusiastic about a new car and hopefully about to drive it soon.

That the Citroën ë-C3 already. Build in the EU and same price range.
Probably more luxurious ride and seats, but the Citroën has no front cable, and no frunk. For the rest, both have the same battery, engine, buttons, and about the sizes.
Closer in price to the R5 than the Spring, by the sounds of it.
NOt comparable,Dacia has only 45 HP

Be shocked if you got 200 miles from 44kw battery
not possible the bmw i3 42kwh on the highway gets 120-140miles @ 60mph 2 straight hours which is a 1200kg car the same weight if not lighter. they are really optimistic. read the 100km kwh consumption i bet it will be 16kwh-18kwh/100km @ 60mph gps .divide it with the battery and you have the real range!!! dont get fooled by wltp. sure the car will even get 300miles of range @ 25mph.

The Bam Box is made from Bamboo a nod to Henry Ford who made and ran an entire car made from Bamboo and was also fuel supplied from Bamboo. He was way ahead of his time producing a really green powered vehicle.
I love it. Much better looking than any Tesla. And proper buttons for climate! Hopefully for radio as well. Nobody wants to use a touchscreen menu to adjust temp or volume.
She is so quirky, bubbly, energetic and refreshingly human.
