Speaking of which, Citroen is bringing their Aircross version of the eC3 later this year, which is a bit bigger (about 4,40M in length) but also comes with up to 7 seats, meaning it's both an SUV and a small van. And I doubt it will be that much more expensive than the eC3, probably 25-30k£
@@Harrythehun With the tool on their zebsite in my country, the prices for the e-C3 Aircross are actually between 26k€ and 32k€, so pretty close to the 25-30k£ I was expecting
Good to see Citroën is already in the market with a rather convincing proposal for reasonably priced individual motoring, before non-EU carmakers flood the market. I really like it and I am certain this can become an important pillar for the future of Citroën. 👏
Good looking car inside and out and seems to have avoided the 'budget' feel more successfully than an MG4 from what I could see from the video. Great that it's manufactured in Europe as well. Great looking car, decent price and locally made, that's definitely a step forward in my book, congrats Citroen :)
Yep manufactured in Slovakia so it is Europe but poor Europe. Slovakia. There is nothing wrong with the inside if an MG4. I have been in one and I can tell you the materials in it are very good even better than some more well known brands. I bet the materials in the MG4 feel a lot nicer then what's in this Citroen E-C3 interior.

YESSSS. . . Best video EVER 😁 Thanks, we were waiting for several years for an EV around €25.000. We bought the MAX version with 11kW charger, with the black body / white roof. It has the LFP batteries build by SVOLT, range is 320km, but testers experience that the 320km will be close to real world range (their riding style :) ). No, it is not a 0 to 100 in 5 sec EV, but that was not what we were looking for. It is 11sec, and therefor very economical, also due to the relative low 1400kg. With the 100kW DC charger it is enough for longer travels (we have time to spare) We payed €26.000 due to the last year of €2.950 subsidies in the Netherlands. SUPER happy, will be delivered in October.
Same here... we ordered You version, full white, with 11kw charger. Got 9000eur state subsidies here in Croatia. We payed 16500eur. Only problem is that we donnt know when will be delivered to us, i hope that will be in this year.
Thank you for the review. This car shows just how many of things in more expensive cars you simply do not need, yet still produces a car that is worth driving. I really admire that. Do I want one? No. But could I live with one? Yes.
I currently have a 1.2 (non-turbo) C3 and the 0-60 is equally awful, but as it's mostly used for city driving I am more interested in the 0-30 - and on the C3, that's extremely quick before all the power goes. It's not great for joining a motorway on an uphill slip, but otherwise I'm not concerned about that. The e-C3 seems like the perfect replacement for existing C3 owners, which given that's one of the best selling B-segment cars should mean Citroen are going to sell a LOT of these. Possibly the only thing that will put some off is not the range being perceived as too short, but actually too long (hear me out...!). I can see a lot of people waiting for the cheaper model with the smaller battery as even 130-150 on a cold day is more than the 20 miles most people drive. This is a decent, comfortable, practical car - for some the main car, for others a second car - and what the market has been crying out for to ramp up EV sales now pricing is within the reach of the ordinary person. If these go on lease for £160-200 a month, the fact it may be 2p a mile for those charging at home on a suitable tariff, it will be far cheaper than a petrol equivalent. Until now, those doing low mileages have struggled to find a way to break even or benefit from the lower energy cost vs price of the car.
Thanks for a good honest review. I’m sick of motoring journalists droning on about high speed handling and whining about low 0-60 times when most people are just after good solid transport options that won’t break the bank. Love the simplicity of this, especially the cheaper one which comes with a phone cradle and no screen which will probably date really quickly. Would be nice to get a review of the differences to see if it feels comparatively low rent.
This is what the market needs right now. Competitively priced commuter EV's, capable of doing that 20 to 30 mile commute each weekday..... And with a home charger and an off-peak tariff, your charging costs will be £5 to £6 per week, at most.... This and Renault's new R5 will shake the lower end EV market up....
The Renault R5 Etech prices will start just over €25k, but with the cheapest small battery version. The 400km version wil start around €32.5k and up over €40k. And, it will have the NCM battery.
Fantastic car. Very very impressed. Ticks just about every box you could want for a car or EV. And £22k is CHEAP if you look at the price of any car nowadays EV or ICE. Just no frunk and 1 pedal drive but otherwise I just hope this sells loads for Citroen. And charge port on the best side as can use Tesla SC’s without bay blocking, as loads and loads of those now open to all in the UK (60+ sites now ) and very reasonably priced compared to all other chargers networks. This is proper cheap motoring car right here. And it’s from Europe & not China as well.
I recently drove a new MokkaE which has the same gearbox settings as the e-C3. The 'C' setting is the 'Coasting' setting not the 'comfort' setting. Select this and the car basically rolls when you take your foot off the accelerator. For open road driving this is a notably more energy efficient way to drive as the energy recouped to the battery by regen will always give less miles than the distance it's possible to roll with good planning. Porsche have this as their default setting; regen only being applied when the brake pedal is used. I took over the MokkaE showing 3.9 miles per KwH and easily extended this to 4.8 miles per KwH simply by changing to 'coast' mode. The regular driver had never used this setting having been told that it was less efficient than the D mode - which may be true in town - but even then only if you are not good at planning ahead. I'm looking forward to trying the eC3!
It is actually a back projected display so your eyes don't have to refocus as much. Btw they had to ask Peugeot for permission to use this I cockpit setup...
Both Stellantis group trademarks under my Portuguese compatriot Engineer Carlos Tavares direction! Congrats Stellantis to be, once again on the car history for the good. This is truly the first "people's EV" worth of its real name on the market. Something that human history will to celebrate for the centuries of the centuries!... Meanwhile; pretty nice car for the price. You don't need anything more for what is basically a suburban or urban mobility vehicle. Long life E-C3!...
As a satisfied C3 Picasso diesel owner I would seriously consider buying this car, but not for another year or two or when gov. subsidies make it financially worth my while.
There are unlikely to be any further government subsidies. The running costs alone, particularly if you can charge from home most of the time, will compensate for having no subsidies. It could cost less than £5 per week to use a car like this for commuting.....
Uplifting review from the young Lady - Yes we need this type of car - Citroen will sell thousands of them - Citroen desrves a lot of credit for the e-C3
Spoken well of by reviewers, hated by haters. So, it's a proper Citroën then. This is definitely on the list, and the comfort will almost certainly be the clincher. The boot lip has a major advantage over my flat boot estate: things aren't going to roll out when I open it.
Why worry about an electrified boot lit, especially at this price? I have never thought “on my next car, I must have a boot that can open and close itself”; it’s a pointless gadget that adds weight and cost for people who just can’t be bothered to close a boot but can close a car door. And for those who say “if you’ve got limited mobility they’re a must” I do understand that use case: but why do the manufacturers then insist on putting the button to close the boot on the boot lid itself which then, for most people with limited mobility, can’t reach it?
If your situation prompts you to be in need of a car, but you don’t do many miles, and you’re lucky enough to be able to accommodate home charging facilities, the combination of a lower priced car such as this eC3 (or a Dacia Spring EV, for instance) is more than capable of reliably matching to your lifestyle. In fact I’d argue this is the case for a large percentage of the population, but due to (often false) mass media coverage arguing against them many people unfortunately wouldn’t touch them out of principle - which is a shame, because they are very good pieces of equipment. A bonus point (in my view) with EVs is that they’re bringing up the level of build quality for the average car to be of higher standards than previously found, which always helps.
Thank you Ginny as always for your balanced view. Looks like Citroen have a real winner. Comfortable urban driving. Yet capable of the odd longer journey. Citroen's battery management system and efficiency have improved vastly since my recently replaced 71 EC4. They have shown that having beefier and heavier batteries to improve range is not the way forward.
Storage of cables. We don't have two different levels of storage, so we use storage boxes, with one for cables and other automotive equipment, and others for groceries, my valuable possessions and other people's junk.

Just a random comment: the lip in the trunk is a plus, not a minus. Why tf is every single car "reviewer" (hard to refer to these people to whom every car in the world is great or very good as actual reviewers) saying it's bad? The lip means that higher items will fit, and they will stay put. Lifting something over the lip may be an issue only if one is *severely* disabled, but that's stretching things...
There's so much room under that front hood, it shouldn't be a problem to put some cable basket under there. And the fact that it's not there from the factory is probably just an effort to keep the price down. I certainly commend the LFP battery. For the smaller sizes, this technology is preferable. I just hope it has a good BMS since they ditched the heat pump. For me this size car is not enough, but I welcome another solid addition to the EVs lineup.
As you say Nicola, we do need it we need there to be more than one for every 10 over 50K models that come out. Especially in the UK with no government incentives what so ever these days!!
Like it. But needs heated/ccoled battery and pre-warming if it wants to make the most of the range. Sensible option but where's the passenger door bins? And no central rear seat passenger binnacle? Perhaps a little too cheap? Waiting for the more comprehensive review...
The latest LFP batteries will do OK up to -20C. At lower temps the charging will get a lot slower. In most western European countries though, from Denmark down to Spain, that temp will never be seen again, except on very high altitudes.
Battery temp has nothing to do with range. Only with charging speed. And this isn't a car for doing long travels with, so charging speed doesn't really matter.
Bravo for keeping a minimal bit of driver info infont of the steering wheel! I don’t care if it looks like a digital clock radio from the 80s, I just want to see my speed and inductors infront of me, where they should be.
I like nearly everything about the car except the batteries. The 40 kw battery should be the entry model and then it should go up to 50kw'ish and WLTP of 402 km (250 miles). Apart from that Nicola was as informative and entertaining as usual, great video.
It is 45kW with 44kW usable. And due to the very low weight (for an EV) 1400kg, it will be more economical than many EV's with a bigger battery pack. I think the range will surprise a lot of people. In some other reviews on YT, (Irish one and an English one) they were getting up to 12.5 kWh per 100 km during testing
@@BMWHP2 The Renault 5 is apparently 30kg heavier and has a 52kw battery. It'll be more expensive than this, I'm expecting £28k for the top spec, but I do think they could fit a larger battery in this, maybe that will come later. The lack of a heat pump and the lower range just kills this for me.
@@madmandonna1 Renault 5 has NMC Batteries that have more energy density per kilogram. I have heard something about prices and Renault 5 top spec will be 29000 pounds
@@madmandonna1 The prices for the Relault R5 Etech are known. Starting at €33.000 with the 52kWh battery and 150Hp motor. The cheaper versions have the 40kWh battery and 95Hp or 120Hp motor (€25k and €28k). But that 150Hp with 52kWh battery, it is doubtful that it wil have a longer range than 330km.
Great review! I love this car and have been looking forward to a review. I only hope it comes to Australia before the plethora of Chinese brands take hold. There are 12 new brands from China coming in ‘25! and keeps its low price. A well thought out package. Well done Citroen.
Nice! I like all the things about this car (or at least.. the downsides like the huge boot lip don't bother me much) - and when I'm on the market for one again (Soon™), it will be among my top choices
"this is a small car", no this is a normal car. People have simply forgotten when an actual car looked like, we don't all need giant SUV and giant sedan.
Look how cramped she is in the back seat. No need to cope. This is a tiny impractical car. It is what it is. Baffling they bothered to add back doors and seats when they are basically worthless. I wouldn't want to take a trip back there.
This looks sweet, almost exactly what I'm looking for - a comfortable sufficiently equipped personal EV ideal for off-highway navigation of my midsize city. But Citroen hasn't been sold in the U.S. for ages, and Stellantis has yet to show us what their planned
Darcia Spring, the New Electric Mini and now the C3. Lots of choice for small electric cars. I shall enjoy getting one of these in a couple of years. Not sure which one.
Great car by the looks of it, we need more of these. Now I only have to try if I fit in there. I am 6'4" and a number of my mates are also 6' or over. So I am not sure if we would fit in there if I had to drive them anywhere. I will definitely take this one in consideration though.
What happened to the "you" trim level i wonder. It was shown at launch and sat below plus...hence plus being called plus. Has the potential with a smaller battery to be close to Dacia Spring money...but not as made of egg boxes hopefully.
I thought the retro instrument strip panel was really cool. Mind you I'm 62 and want things simple. Could be leading the charge for other manufacturers to launch small EVs for the average person. Good stuff all round.
I appreciate the LFP battery the most, which is much safer in terms of fire. This is a usable and at the same time nice electric car for Europe, hopefully other manufacturers will understand it :-)
Not sure if it was mentioned, but charging speed is 100kw (says Google) which is “ok” considering the modest range. Seems like a 200 mile round trip would be bearable with a coffee stop charge-up.
@@NunoLima1337 So how did Tesla manage to build the Model 3? And how did Stellantis manage to build the Peugeot E-208 and the Opel/Vauxhall Corsa Electric?
I’ve had a Peugeot e208 (company car) for 18 months and absolutely love it. It’s RRP is £35k (I know), so very interested in trying the e-C3 when my lease ends. The only thing I will say though is I’d like a bit more range (the e208 claims 214 miles but never does more than 180) and if they brought out an ‘extended range’ version with a slightly bigger battery for around £25k, that would be perfect. Looks a great effort though for the price and hopefully the start of many well priced EV’s to come.
Lovely review Love the easy peasy vibes Great sense of humor 8:51 130-150miles of range in winter WITHEOUT a heatpump ?! Oh dear 😂😂 you no nothing You can be happy if you get 100 miles in cold conditions 10:41 😂😂😂😂 Well....... Looks a little bit stupid But oh my god Just lovely sense of humor
The reason that Citroen only sell around 200 cars per year in Australia is that they make a great car like this that's affordable, then refuse to sell it here. Bring this and we will buy them by the thousand!!
What I get from all my Aussie friends, is that they dislike small cars. More like Americans, they like big V8 engines, huge heavy pickup trucks and fast straight-line rubber burners.
There aren't any major differences on the trim levels, although she mentioned the screen being standard when I thought there was a version with no screen (using your phone for SatNav etc)? Perhaps that's the sub-£20k version coming next year. A lot of new features are needed for safety ratings, but a lot of people driving 20 miles a day in and around town likely don't need a big display, cruise control etc.
@@JonathanMorris777I know in Portugal they’re advertising two options : e-c3 You for 23 300€ that has no screen , no backup camera and smaller wheels and missing a few other things and then there is the Max model which has all the stuff in this video (screen/apple car play bigger wheels etc) for 27800€
Very welcome addition to the EV market and many more like this required. The 2cv6 of 2024 and stands every chance of being as popular. Pity about no heat pump, something of an essential for North of Scotland. Does the battery have any cooling/heating? Warranty? If three years somewhat disappointing. Service interval and cost? Hopefully 3 to 4 star safety rating.
I am really torn between this, Renault 5 E-tech and Hyundai Inster :) Even more so considering the used electric car market expanding with 2020 models of vw id.3 and cupra born in a similar price range, and those cars just seem to be om a whole other level in design and ingenious efficiency and trim choices 😊 Of course the warranty is of concern, but the battery warranty, which should mostly still be applicable, could be inquired for a refurbisment 🙂
Finally an EV that doesn't have everything you don't need and at a reasonable price. Good Citroën
Yep. Non-powered boot lid = less things to break
Yes, BUT no heat pump is a terrible way of saving costs..

Great review, well done.
Yeah, if you want a smaller lip, stick a small wood pallet in or summin'.
Comes with decent looking alloy wheels too.
For me this size car is not enough, but I welcome another solid addition to the EVs lineup.
i like it if i had the money i would another good one Nickola 👍
Great review, thanks! Will Vauxhall, Opel and Peugeot versions follow at this price, I wonder?
Beautiful scenery. Nice car.
Looks like a great package.
Very clever city car with roof rails for bike👍
4:28 : that is what the Renault Espace has had for decades. Absolutely bloody awesome, and I would have nothing else.
You are a great 👍 car video reviewer 😊
Bravo for keeping a minimal bit of driver info infont of the steering wheel! I don’t care if it looks like a digital clock radio from the 80s, I just want to see my speed and inductors infront of me, where they should be.
On side note .... No 1/2 Hr Kilowatt hour for 2 weeks! .... The end of the week never felt so flat!
So stunning 😊 So beautiful 😊
Great review! I love this car and have been looking forward to a review. I only hope it comes to Australia before the plethora of Chinese brands take hold. There are 12 new brands from China coming in ‘25! and keeps its low price. A well thought out package. Well done Citroen.
A good second car. For me perhaps the closest competitor for the price would be a used Model 3 SR+. Not an easy choice.
Nice! I like all the things about this car (or at least.. the downsides like the huge boot lip don't bother me much) - and when I'm on the market for one again (Soon™), it will be among my top choices
Very interesting car indeed! 👀
Hello, when is this expected to be available for sale / test drive in the UK?
It is really good looking!
This looks sweet, almost exactly what I'm looking for - a comfortable sufficiently equipped personal EV ideal for off-highway navigation of my midsize city. But Citroen hasn't been sold in the U.S. for ages, and Stellantis has yet to show us what their planned
Great video 👍😎
How does it compare with the Dacia Spring?
The Spring is cheaper and it looks it.
Darcia Spring, the New Electric Mini and now the C3. Lots of choice for small electric cars. I shall enjoy getting one of these in a couple of years. Not sure which one.
Same, lets hope the battery replacement doesn't cost a limb tho 😂
Nice one Nicola, but EV's without a heat pump and without the option ?, not sure about anyone else, but that would be enough to put me off.
You don’t need a heat pump in the UK.
But why did it have to be an SUV/Crossover?
To have space under the cabin for batteries?
And it’s a family car!
@@NunoLima1337 So how did Tesla manage to build the Model 3? And how did Stellantis manage to build the Peugeot E-208 and the Opel/Vauxhall Corsa Electric?
@@barrymurton8988 And the Vauxhall Astra Electric - is that not a family car?
It's not a SUV/Crossover! It's a trick of the styling....
Hello Nicola. Thanks for the review. I think that you said that the car does not have single pedal mode; is that right please?
It won’t go to a complete stop. It’ll just slow you down to a creep
Wait for the Renault 5, it's got better range and should still be under 30K for the top spec.
@@madmandonna1 Yeah it does look great
Does the higher trim have a reversing camera?
Looks very nice. Well done. Is the same look coming to India? 🤔
Here you go algorithm
Great start Citroën, now you need to make this as sporty as MG4, and then you will have won the game! Also, when are we getting this car in Australia?
just one question - new eC3 or used i3 42kwh for similar money?
Citroën people don't like BMW service prices.
I think the „C” may stand for „coast” rather than „comfort”, though
Lovely review
Love the easy peasy vibes
Great sense of humor
8:51 130-150miles of range in winter WITHEOUT a heatpump ?!
Oh dear 😂😂 you no nothing
You can be happy if you get 100 miles in cold conditions
10:41
😂😂😂😂
Well....... Looks a little bit stupid
But oh my god
Just lovely sense of humor
The reason that Citroen only sell around 200 cars per year in Australia is that they make a great car like this that's affordable, then refuse to sell it here. Bring this and we will buy them by the thousand!!
What I get from all my Aussie friends, is that they dislike small cars.
More like Americans, they like big V8 engines, huge heavy pickup trucks and fast straight-line rubber burners.
There are other reasons. Look for prince engine issues, then for Puretech engine issues.
Look like VW T Cross!! Nice Citroen C3.
I hope it does well, this looks like a lovely car I'd pick up secondhand in 7 or 10 years.
Not for me, but well done Citroen. Small wheels, good, manual tailgate, good, rear wiper, good, rear USBs, good. Less than £30K, great.
Bet the review car won't be the £22k version.
The 'Max' trim shown is £23,690 in the UK.
@@JonathanMorris777I know in Portugal they’re advertising two options : e-c3 You for 23 300€ that has no screen , no backup camera and smaller wheels and missing a few other things and then there is the Max model which has all the stuff in this video (screen/apple car play bigger wheels etc) for 27800€
V2G too...❤
If that really starts to become standard even on cheap cars we truly are entering a new power world.
first time i will consider buying an EV ...well done citroen"
For us too, and we indeed decided to buy it. Delivery in 4 months.
I'll Take IT !!!!! but sadly, it won't be coming to the US 😞
Very welcome addition to the EV market and many more like this required.
Does is come with fast charging?
25 minutes I believe.
That wave killed me!
Good to see European electric car for the reasonable price
I am really torn between this, Renault 5 E-tech and Hyundai Inster :) Even more so considering the used electric car market expanding with 2020 models of vw id.3 and cupra born in a similar price range, and those cars just seem to be om a whole other level in design and ingenious efficiency and trim choices 😊 Of course the warranty is of concern, but the battery warranty, which should mostly still be applicable, could be inquired for a refurbisment 🙂
Well done Citroën!
