I mean, think about it. These 'e-kits' are using samples from amazing drummers, on sick drums, often recorded by the pros who are producing the best records in the industry right now (cough *Nolly* cough). So like... Yeah. At the end of the day you're slopping a sample in that realistically is better than anything you'd be able to record yourself even with access to top of the line gear/studio. I imagine we reach a world where very few people are actually recording drums beyond scratch takes any more (unless you're a massive band). Just no reason to for 90% of bands these days.
The draw back is it makes it hard to record stuff that sounds vintage try to remake something like the old school deathmetal sound of Asphyxiation with these plugins
@@InVerum That's only true in the world of shiny polished overproduced metal, there are tons of bands that do not follow this or use any types of plugins like these. They prefer the unique sound of an actual person playing a kit with real mics even if it's not perfect.
@dilbophagginz I mean. Every single one of these drums are real, recorded with real mics. They're just not being played by the drummer of the actual band. The reality is if you record it yourself, this will sound, in 99% of cases-worse. Just flat worse. If you want your sound to be worse, more "raw" or whatever.. go for it. I want my shit sounding the absolute best possible. "Overproduced" is a shield for people who don't want to put in the work.
It continues to amaze me how you end up writing actual bangers week after week - if you ever end up releasing these as an album, I'm the first one to jam it 24/7
If you didn't know already, Logic has a low latency mode that will bypass and plugins causing latency on any track with input monitoring enabled. It's under the Record tab on the top toolbar. Great stuff as always!
@@nickbroomhallmusic If you click the dropdown for your send, there should be an option that says "low latency safe", which should allow the plugins on that bus to function in low latency mode. It'll be on the track you're sending to the bus, not on the bus itself, if that makes sense
Yeah I'm really vibing with it lately! Been liking the feel of this one in drop Eb/Ab. But I'm sure I'll be switching it up pretty soon. I go through phases with my guitars haha
Making sure the drummer doesn’t have to have four arms just makes me think of Goro. Now I want to see a band with Goro as the drummer. It would be so heavy.
Drum plugins are just insane nowadays, you can route and mix exactly like you would a live set which is so cool, natural spill is there too which sometimes makes it hard to not know they are programmed. Musicians today are so lucky. MIDI drums used to suck so bad
Awesome tune as always bruh. A tip for beginners, keep the sustain on the bassdrum, snare and toms short. The sound gets more pop, and it won't bleed into the other instruments. Keep it tight if you are doing metal.
Hey Nick, I bought your logic ggd M&M template. Was wondering if you could make another template but with all stock logic processing plugins. I don’t have the Fab Filter stuff or virtual mix rack. Thanks man!
Bro I got a big question for you, what bass strings and gauges are you using? Playing around with some different setups to get that perfect Drop G sound out of my 35” 5-string
Hey bro, I love your content but I do have a question. Im looking to start recording at home on my mac and Ive seen you use Get Good Drums, RS Drums and now with Mix Wave. What drum pack product or company would you recommend for the beginner? I'm more interested in quality of sound and ease of use. (I'm a hard rock/heavy metal/metalcore guy if that helps) Thanks Nick
In my experience, mixwave libraries are easier to work with and they sound pretty awesome with minimal tweaks, but if you’re willing to put it extra work in the mix GGD can sound absolutely MASSIVE. Out of the box GGD is a little underwhelming but if you know what you’re doing they’re awesome. You really can’t go wrong with the quality of plugins nowadays
Just a tip from a bassist: next time you're writing a bass part, don't just mirror the root from the guitar. The natural pair of the bass guitar is the bass drum. Write a part that matches the rhythmic timing of the kick but harmonizes with the guitar part. You'll be shocked at how hard it hits.
writing gojira influenced deathcore automatically ends up being fit for an autopsy lmao
This is actually so accurate 😂
I came here to say this but knew in my heart it had already been said.
I was going to say the same thing haha
Was about to comment basically the same thing. Extremely true.
As soon as he added in that second riff I was like oh ya, definitely
This sounds like if Kublai Khan discovered that they could use all six strings. It's so sick. I love it.
first riff is giving me knocked loose vibes too
So we’re not gonna talk about how legendary the opening to this episode is? 😂🔥
Real 😂
the universal drummer brain to rip out down with the sickness
It’s crazy how good plugins have gotten at this point and how fast you can write something that sounds massive. Kit sounds sick!

The urge to punch stuff is off the charts with this one
Everybody hide your drywall
MixWave is so underrated. They have some nasty plugins 🔥
Both you and that library sound phenomenal
Thanks so much 🥹
Dude, you keep motivating me every damn time I watch these videos.
Happy to hear it dude!!
Your grin when you hit that first harmony was perfect haha So sick dude
My favorite day of the week!! This my be my favorite you've done I'm addicted to slow heavy grooves!!🤘
Haha I say this every new episode that it’s probably my new favorite 😂 This is up there with the past two deathcore episodes of the same song
The heaviest matter of the bedroom lol

Low latency mode is nice sometimes but a lot of the time it bypasses some plugins on my busses that I wanted to keep on

Dayum even though it's Gojira inspired, it kind of reminds me a lot of Jinjer! Sick Riff 🔥
That green Kiesel must be your favorite guitar right now! I remember you mentioning you fell back in love with it a few episodes ago.
Yeah I'm really vibing with it lately! Been liking the feel of this one in drop Eb/Ab. But I'm sure I'll be switching it up pretty soon. I go through phases with my guitars haha
Love the Keyboard cam
Glad you like it! I'll definitely upgrade it to a higher quality camera at some point but I wanted to see if it worked well!
@@nickbroomhallmusic it definitely work well
Freaking amazing sounding little diddy you made there.....crunnnnnccccccchhhhhyyyyy

Gotta give props on the intro! And sick writing as always, you seem to always write the exact kind of stuff that I like the most 🔥
watching you mix is honestly just as fun as watching you record and produce those thick-ass riffs
That track is awesome 🔥 & the drum VST sounds so sic! Mixwave have really done it 🤘🏾
I love this. Thick Riff Thursday’s are the best. 🙌🏽
These riffs with the kit sound MASSIVE, would love to hear it fleshed out even more this is sick!!!!
this drum vst actually sounds like Mario playing, and your programming also sounded really close to his playing. great work man!
6:43 I fucking FELT that ATB harmony coming a mile away.
That sounded MASSIVE! Love watching you get creative in the process. 🤘🏻
Please make it to a full song, this part is an instant jaw dropping!
Sir, i am envious of your work flow and mastery of logic! sick dummy thicc riffs as always!
This riff is super sick as always👌 Also you should play your Osiris more often! I miss seeing it in your videos
Please give us a video on your midi drum mixing process! They sound unreal
Nick this is sick! Love it.
Just out of curiosity how long are your thick riff sessions before editing the video? Like the full thing.
Also curious
This is fantastic.
Keyboard came is 🔥
This is siiiick sounds so beefy. Good work 👌🏽
Absolute fire as usual! What does your Master or Mix bus look like ? Sounds super pro and near perfect sounding!
this shit smacks brother!
Thanks dude!
It's so fuggin good 😮
Thanks man!
That opening transition tho
I freaking love this! Sounds like Gojira crossed with modern hardcore.
Reminds me of FFAA! Sick man!
i wanna hear that crazy syncopated riff with a wilddddly heavy halftime drum feel. that would be interesting.
Ive reached the weekly checkpoint
Straight NASTY as always dude
"...ask your doctor about buffer size"...🤣🤣🤣 That should be a shirt. lol
What a killer riff, omfg...
Sick as always ❤
insane
creative genius. week in week out!
so goood man
Thanks dude!
Today's bass was of the ethically sourced variety, and indeed organic.
Such a great intro 😂
the ending can lead into an epic breakdown
This came out nicely 🔥🔥🔥
Bleed From Within vibes here

Is there, or will there be a “explain the master chain” video? Sounds amazing
I bought the first Gojira kit a while ago. Sounded great on it's own, couldn't get it to fit well in a mix though.
The best TRT so far imo. 10/10 riffage
Thanks dude!
thick in the pants thursdays.... ahhh gyeaaaaaaaa \m/
Insanely thicc riff. Again.
Four on the floor would rip in the first part of the riff, then switch to the open groove after the proggy bit
The tone/riff/harmonizing sounds a lot like God Forbid
Awesome tune as always bruh.
A tip for beginners, keep the sustain on the bassdrum, snare and toms short.
The sound gets more pop, and it won't bleed into the other instruments.
Keep it tight if you are doing metal.
Also get some longer 808 booms going during breakdowns
And, tune your kit to the key you write your music in. Sounds great and you don't get much dissonance
AMAZIIIIIING
🔥
well that ripped
massive! did you ever go over your mastering chain anywhere?
Yassss queen
Let’s gooo just what i ordered
I usually open the standalone Neural DSP plugin and mute the monitoring in my DAW while recording. I get to hear myself with less latency :P
That drum part hurt my brain
my b
lol that intro bro!
That "other guitar / texture channel" could be used as a BASS LINE... meaning... the BASS could be playing that at the FIRST PART...
Wait...these types of videos are popular? I thought about doing "live songwriting" type videos forever ago but didn't think anyone would watch it. 🤣
Yahoooooo!!!
Hey Nick, I bought your logic ggd M&M template. Was wondering if you could make another template but with all stock logic processing plugins. I don’t have the Fab Filter stuff or virtual mix rack. Thanks man!
Ffs, was not expecting the ending of down with the sickness 😂
Nick can you give some recommendations on how to get a plugin setup to use these drum sounds and easily punch stuff in like this? Is this GGD?
Mario64!
Has anybody been having issues with the input monitoring in the new logic update or is it just me
What's up Nick! Had to comment because I'm here 4 minutes after upload 🤣
hahah let's goooo
the single coil tap is so noisy you should try waves NS1 on the di to clean it up along with a gate after amp sidechained from the dis low end
Bro I got a big question for you, what bass strings and gauges are you using? Playing around with some different setups to get that perfect Drop G sound out of my 35” 5-string
Sick! Have you tried the Mixwave Mike stringer plugin ?
I have! I did a video on it when it first released
Kublai Khan vibes 🤙🤙
We need an episode inspired by Glass Cloud 👀
So we need trt volume 2 and 3 like immediately

I agree, I think MixWave has the most beginner friendly kits that sound great right away!
Yo do you ever release these song? Like get someone to do vox and put it out there
The new camera angle feels oddly intimate
the china is like the same size as the kick
Hiiiiii nickkkk
Day 2435 of challenging you to make Father's Son by Stephen Wilson JR heavy AF
What kind of chair do you use? I need a better chair that has flip up arms like that.
It's just one I found on amazon. It's not super high quality but it gets the job done!

Logic Pro!
I need to know... Can you teach an old RUclipsr to DJent? =]
