I moved here as a military retiree and a $1600 dollar a month pension with a wife and daughter in 2001. I split the money into 3 parts, two for the wife and $600 dollars for me. I had a $1,200 dollars a month educational benefit for 36 months. So all three of us went to school, daughter in high school, and wife and I in college. Once the 36 months expired, I sent them to Cebu for the daughter's college, I stayed in Angeles City. Now, 24 years later I'm even in a much better financial position at 75 years old. I retired at 48 years old after 24 years in the military.
I miss the Philippines!!! I flew into Manila and had the best time of my life...then flew to Boracay and couldnt believe how amazing and beautiful it was and the people there are the nicest and friendliest in the entire world!!!

Sana all Bro.! Here in North America very expensive too! We live Pay check to pay check. Everything is expensive here from food to house rent. At least in the Philippines, there is a Govt. Housing Loan program funded by Pag-ibig Fund.
My first time in the Phils was 1999 on a work assignment, and the team finished early and went to Barajas. There was nothing there yet. Rented a hooch in a private little cove for $5 a night. Cooked on the beach from food at the public market. Great times!
@@JasperinthePhilippines yes! Most memorable. Just got back from a monthlong stay in Dumaguette, meeting the family for the first time. Will be back for the month of November, then finish up work and make the Phils my home starting May 1

I do not plan to ever come back, but I don’t have a million US dollars in the bank so we push came to shove. I’d be more than happy to come back and work my ass off and visit with my father for a year and then move back permanently.
I think you've made an excellent decision to het up and go. I 1st went to The Philippines in January '00 and promised myself to retire to Palawan at 50 ish, then the phoney pandemic hit, so I lived off my savings and subsequently blew them all. My plan has also been offset due to a badly broken ankle. I had a feeling that you were on White beach, Boracay, but didn't recognise the station 1 area when you panned around with the camera. I stayed at La Reserve in Station 2 back in August '14 and booked 10 nights which is way more than enough time in Boracay. Happy and safe travels pal.
@@JasperinthePhilippines uncertain if I'll return to Boracay. Been there, seen it and done it. I found Palawan far more fascinating 24 years ago. However, I've read that it's basically been bought up by the world's elites🙄🙄
I don’t get into exact numbers about my personal bank account. I would say $3000 a month coming in or I wouldn’t come here with less than 100 K unless you plan to go home shortly.

I have a very expensive car that I own outright and a lot of very expensive items. I think for now it’s no sweat for me to just keep paying it but probably if I go back in a couple years to visit my dad. It would make a lot of sense to do so.
You don’t need a job in the Philippines 🇵🇭 because the cost of living is lower plus there jobs don’t pay enough anyways.Just go their with enough money and within a few months you or so you can start your own business. Its easier though for older men to actually live in the Philippines long term if your 45 and older but since I’m 28 I would have to be consistently staying in the Philippines for 10 years until I can qualify for a residency permit😢.
@JasperinthePhilippines I'm from PH born and raised and living in NZ now for 6 years. I haven't been to Boracay, and when I'll visit PH that would be my plan to go to.
Hey brother wierd question but do you still call your dad often even tho your chillin in asia? I hope so brother. I lost my mom 2 years ago your so lucky you still got your dad brother. Financial question: how long do you think you could live decently over there for $200,000?
Depends on what you consider living. Decent depends on if you get a girlfriend and you pay for her which more than likely you will need to because people in this country don’t usually make a large salary and you’re going to live at Western standards 200,000 maybe five years.
Yeah, I lost my mom like four years ago and yeah, I talked to my dad as often as I can, but he’s busy with his new girlfriend and I’m busy with my girl so we speak when we have time

if you want to have a wonderful life in the Philippines just be "humble" if you are humble you will meet the genuine people. If you are not, then good luck to you 😂
I’m not really into meeting people. I just spend my life with my Filipina. It’s much more simple to just build a life with one other person than to “meet people” at 47.
There’s a time to be humble and a time to be proud. I’m not humble about my RUclips channel. I worked my ass off to get over 44,000 subscribers in one year and made a career for myself off of giving good information.
