Jeez, I just bumped into your channel a few days ago. After watching a few vids and especially this one, it's doubtful I'll watch very many more. I'm not trying to be mean, but are you two even aware of how insanely biased you sound? Ok fine, bash Traxxas as a company (all of us RC guys do, it's nothing new) but to flagrantly bash every product just because it's from Traxxas is a bit silly. "I hear of guys who spent thousands on their Xmaxx just to keep it going" - give me a break. There's a reason the Xmaxx has achieved legendary status among the RC community when it comes to strength. Unfortunately, Arrma has not held a candle in that category and I'm an Arrma fanboy, I love the company and a lot of their rigs. Please take this as constructive criticism... one of the big annoyances, for me at least, is that you don't even really bash any of your RCs in any of your videos. In comparison to just about any other RC channel, you simply do not test to a products limits. If you did, you might see why some of the Traxxas rigs score so well. You're ripping on a product like you're a pro-level tester, yet you do nothing to actually take these products to their limits. On the flip side, I'd be perfectly happy with your assertion that you're "not professionals" and are "just having fun" with these products. GREAT! I'm all for that! But then you gotta cut out the obvious bias and brand bashing and simply have fun. Cheers.
Sadly, they are not the only ones, I use to watch a few rc youtubers and the "Arrma side" is getting bigger. I miss JANG from URC nowadays...
Ya they dont even bash 50.00 toy Grade junk boats/drones/trucks. Everyone knows traxxas is king. Its lonely at the top hence all the hate
@@drzrider4399 That was the first red flag. They're clearly just trying to move merchandise through their affiliate program. Which is fine, but their whole approach takes away any trust they're trying to build with their audience... or, at least with those who are even a little informed about the RC industry. Best of luck to 'em, I wish no ill will, I'd just take any of their "reviews" with a grain of salt.
@@sonicgli - Sounds more like your butt hurt because of the truth... Arrma is catching up to Traxxas as a "more bang for your buck" package nor were they over the top with that assessment, IMO. In the end, it's just like any corporate battle... and people have their own taste... Some like McD's over Burger King, or Starbucks of Tim Horton's... But some are so devoted to their brands they won't hear about anything else.

Honestly metal chasis are nice, but when you really start to beat on somethi g they will bend, and traxxas plastic chasis are SUPER durable
I don’t understand the obsession with metal. Plastic is actually more durable from my experience because they flex.

Man that thing is a BEAST 🔥 I remember when I first started racing 1/10 2wd stadium trucks back in 2000, after racing for several months I seen my first Traxxas T MAXX and at that time that thing was huge to me after seeing nothing but little 1/10 2wd RC's I immediately bought 1 😆 Yep my wife was PIIIIISSED 🤣 so I could imagine how huge the 8S Kraton is seeing it in person for the first time.

I like armma for sure have a 4s kraton a 3s typon an the 6s notrious but I ll keep my xmaxx over the over sized kraton

@@DampActionRC Then of course you can break the Traxxas plastic chassis. Traxxas should be ashamed for selling such an expensive rig with an all plastic base. Get a DBXL-E. That's a real 1/5 unlike the XMass 1/6.
Traxxas Xmaxx is a proven chassis
ABOlsen69X the reason they use the plastic chassis is because it is proven to take the abuse and huge air other metal vehicles can not and the dbxle is just the same great truck good track car but you jump or abuse it and it will break there is no give in metal 👍👍 it’s not hate buddy quite simply fact 😀

Ive always wanted an xmax but Arrma is my favorite! That would be a tough decision for me.
Although I'm glad Arrma has gotten into the 1/5 scale market, I was hoping for a true monster truck not a monster truggy let alone another kraton which I already have. Also was hoping in typical fashion that Arrma would beat Traxxas ridiculous prices on this. Poop!
I completely agree. I was hoping for a true monster truck myself. I also already have their 1/8 Kraton. I'm honestly disappointed with this effort from Armma.
@@lexsteel12 On the brighter side it truly is a new platform. It is only a Kraton by body and name. There are no shared parts.
Most stock metal arrma chassis bend like wet napkins though. I am definitely not a fan of alot of metal on ANY basher no matter the brand. Hopefully this 4mm thick chassis holds up well for $900
I never got why people "upgrade" their cars with a bunch of aluminum parts that just end up breaking other parts.
@@learningtocrash4030 agreed some parts are meant to be wrak points on purpose cheap and easy to replace. This is done in the full scale drifting/racing world also. In rc if it doesnt flex itll bend or tranfer that energy to a different part that will either flex bend or break. Energy doesn't disappear it only transfers and changes.

I really like HH products...just recently I found my Blade QX3ap which I got Pre used back in 2017.
The quality of HH packaging is amazing...even after 3 year's in a an old lockup no sign of deterioration.😃
and zero mildew.😌...only one thing that was wrong was the expired LiPo.
l am sure that the others will be just the same...except that to replace theirs will be way more expensive😒

No. Your reaction to the presence of metal parts and implying that they are somehow an indication of quality is simply misleading to anyone who may not know better. Plastic will, in many applications, be a more durable choice.
I really like arrma but the xmaxx is king and plastic is better Metal bends.

Weve been selling RCs and setting money aside for a long time now. Will most likely have to sell one of our giants to keep the lights on and food in our belly's, so no. No lottery. lol.

Regarding the last question. Sort of. This is what I expected, but had hoped for a bit more. I would have liked to see a 56 or 58 can motor using a pinion with 1.5 mod gears, and a Max5 type 200 amp ESC, to really set it apart from the 1/8 scale stuff. This would also put it more in the realm of the Losi DBXL-E 1/5 scale rather than the Maxx 6S/8S and Losi Rock Ray 1/6sclae rigs.
But hey, still a great rig and I'm sure it will be in my garage before xmas:)

My first thought is the orange would be my first choice too. But after seeing the pictures on Horizon Hobby, the green is definitely the better looking color. Nicely built truck. Can't wait to see it in action.

I’m not quite sure about the rear end of the truck and how it’s attached to rest of the truck. Sure the bottom plate is metal and you have 2 shafts in the CENTER (keyword here) but it seems like there’s not much else that can prevent the rear end from twisting if you land it rough unevenly.
I used to love the looks of some early ARRMA model. I own an old Raider that looks like a proper buggy, not like a space shuttle. That’s an other reason why I prefer the X-Maxx to this one: it looks more like a real truck... well a real monster truck. I never liked the trigger look, regardless of the brand.
Anyhow, keep up the good work and I wish you a ton of fun with both new 1/5 scale monster truck.
Abbys second RC ever was an Arrma Raider back in 2011. An awesome buggy!!
TheRcSaylors Yeah. Very durable and it was brushless ready. Although, it was a little too light to support the power of a brushless motor. Wheely on demand is an euphemism! I tried it, it was incredible. Unfortunately, parts for the model I have are not available anymore.

about how long of a run time can you get of a battery
There are a wide variety of batteries that you can use in an RC like this, so that varies greatly. If you use the batteries we have linked, about 30 or more minutes of run time on one charge.

No. We shot the b-roll after we drove it. We put this in text about 10 times in the video. Plus didn't you notice that the far away shots it was clean and only the close up shots it was dirty?
@@TheRcSaylors far away would look clean. But I was hoping it didnt come that way. Looks like it's good competition for the traxxas for sure. I personally had the rustler for several years and my son had an RC10 truck that we would race at the track and tear up the yards with all the time.

They are pretty different vehicles yes. We own the Xmaxx and can at least say this about the Kraton 8S: it has a full metal chassis whereas the Xmaxx is all plastic. I think this will help its durability over the Xmaxx by a lot 👍⚓😎
