I've had the same problem with loosing the pillow ball nuts on my 6s Kraton. To stop them from backing out I started putting a small dab of Shoe Goo over one side of the nut and housing to keep it from backing out. The nice thing is, if you need to remove them for service or repair the Shoe Goo simply peels off.

Best review I've watched of this truck. Nice work. Covered all the points that are typically weak of every RC, not just on the Kraton series of RCs. The body pin to remove the center brace is definitely a nice feature as I've watched another video that it was already bent. That bracing system they have isn't the greatest of ideas. Especially the lower braces that tie into the transmission.
Thanks. I think some of it is driver though. Sure that long brace has a pretty big span to it, so it could bend. But there is driver resposibility too. Some just send it. To me, if you send it, then you take resposibility and you are ok with something breaking. If you drive it, then the thing will last.
@@rcdriver I agree, I'm just saying they can't possibly not know that the one long brace won't hold up. I'm not hating on Arrma, just saying they should have listened more to those who buy their RCs and focus a lot more attention on the weaknesses. Certain weaknesses is a killer when it comes to sells, and if it's a new designed car using the same old problematic areas, it will ultimately prevent new sells. If I had a Kraton 1/8 scale, and had fixed all their flaws, I wouldn't buy the new one and want to buy all the same upgrades for a version I have that isn't much smaller. 24 pounds will definitely make the weaknesses found on the 1/8 scale in this 1/5 scale size more appearant. I do like the fact that they redesigned the shock towers, that was a much needed improvement. The banana chassis problem still exists though even with the pressed in points on the chassis. It will now just transfer the stresses to the ends where the indentation meets the flat at about the point of the shock towers. It's going to be a point where it cracks rather than bend. The forces have been rallied to a small point rather than the entire plane of the chassis. Only time will tell though on this RC, but from what I've seen, I think people will be more willing to buy the 1/8th scale Kraton. The just of it they beefed up areas no one had issues with and left alone the biggest problems. The shock towers are the only thing changed that needed to be, but now with only the one main brace taking most of the brunt of a hit will be transferred to something that the thread of the screws will be pulled out of.

no wheelie bar because it's balanced not to wheelie. traxxas designs toys. arrma comes from the racing world(team durango) . so they build a car that accelerates instead of wheelies.
@@blue03r6 Funny going from calling traxxas toys to asserting the people bending arrmas don't know how to drive. Racing buggies are tough but they don't weigh 10+ pounds. The Arrmas don't drive particularly well either, even considering they are based on a now 5+ year old and defunct racing company platform.

Great overview once again! I don't mind that they didn't reinvent the wheel, but I wish they would have used a cnc chassis instead of stamped. They probably wouldn't have to go overboard with all of those chassis braces with a 7075 chassis. Nice rig though.
the only thing that's making this truck looks so big is the wide wheel base take those big fat tires off shorten the A-Arms and it's just another small truck
It is no king. A king can do standing backflips. Imagine that, an 8s rc that can backflip from a dead stop. That's what I'm talking about. That would be a king.
It's a basher, but too beautiful to bash, haha. But if I get it, I shouldn't let my kids play it. Too heavy and powerful! Anyway, thank you for this awesome car review! You're amazing EduTuber!
Excellent, informative overview Greg. Very well done sir! Thanks for including some bash footage as well👍🏻👍🏻. I know you've been in the hobby a long time, and have seen popularity and trends come and go, so my question for you is this: If the hobby on the whole has waned in popularity compared to the "golden age of RC", why does it seem that there are more manufacturers, models, scales, segments, and power choices than ever before? Perhaps the hobby has shifted to a more "backyard basher" mentality? Or is social media making it falsely seem as though the hobby is bigger than ever? So many great tracks around the country have closed in the last couple decades. Very few people that I know personally are into RC nowadays, but when I was a kid back in the '80s it was THE thing everybody was into! Sorry for the long comment and thanks for the great upload, lol! 😂
We've actually lost manufacturers. Jammin' went under, Hong Nor no longer has a US distributor because OFNA went out of business, HPI was in limbo for years and has only recently started to get back into the market, Durango shut down their racing program to exclusively focus on ARRMA, Duratrax stopped making cars and Vaterra went AWOL. Not to mention the entirety of Hobbico was bought out by Horizon Hobbies. On the flip side, we did gain Tekno, and probably most surprisingly, a few cheap brands like RedCat, LC Racing and WLToys have actually managed to get a bit of a foothold in the hobby. It's hard to really say whether the hobby is actually in decline or not, though. There's evidence to support both claims. On one side, there seems to be a lot more activity, especially on the RTR basher side of things, and social media is starting to get the word out better. But racing's kinda stuck itself in an inaccessable, expensive spot, Traxxas has been abusing litigation against other brands (even ones that don't even directly compete with them) and bullying stores and it's becoming hard to find anything that isn't Traxxas or ARRMA in stores, unless those stores cater specifically to racers.
If you prefer wheelies over stability get the outcast. If you want a better handling overall ride get the kraton. Kraton will jump smoother being a longer chassis as well as handle better. Both are still fun though.
@@rcdriver than you ! i'm glad you remember my freestyle videos. right now i bash the losi 5b, which is a proper 1/5th. i'm pretty sure the 8s kraton is not as durable as the 5b... ruclips.net/video/MDsP95xt9UU/видео.html but i need heavier tires for more control...

This by far the best channel for reviews on just about any RC car/ Monster trucks!! What a complete beast the new 8s #KRATON. Question where can I find me a phone mount clip that will connect to my STX2 for my #Notorious 6s rig?
I'm curious how this compares to the Losi DBXL-E 1/5th... Def some pros and cons I can see for both. It looks like the Losi has better drive linkage with boots and beefy "Fox" shocks, but Kraton has ostensibly better serviceable access and a full center transmission which seems preferable to me. I do like the Losi look better than the Kraton.
How thick is the motor shaft? 8 of 5 mm? I have a kraton en typhon 6s both with hobbywing max6 and 1650kv motor (same size as the 1250kv motor in the 8s). Thinking to get the 1250 kV motor in the 1/8 arrma’s.
Yeah but you could always buy a dual charger like i have and charge both batteries at once. I like my 6s Kraton though. Was thinking about selling for an 8s just for the size factor but i hear alot people say the 6s is more nimble.
You can play this with 6S if you desire, matter of fact, can run at 4S, but will be slower, but most likely very easy to control, and easy on the drivetrain.
my losi dbxl on 8s is way faster, have you limited the power?? looks really slow and floppy, have seen this on other videos too, for 8s looks more like a 3s setup lol...
Here is some basic physics..The 4S Kraton is like 9#, this 8S is 32#. So expecting a 32# RC run same speed is unfair. The stability and tractiin gained by the added weight is its leverage, cause, likely to stay grounded on clay environment.

I've always wandered how the amps are measured on these little ESC's, is that 160 amps, phase current or battery current. It surely cant be 160 battery amps?? 10 Gau even with high strand will get a little toasty and it will become lossy surely? Perhaps upgrade to 8 gauge high strand? Although its not exactly maintaining that current for long because of the nature of how its used and the wires are short. I run 150 battery amps on my ebike and I have 6 gauge high strand.

@@blue03r6 why are so many people bending their arrma already? It's barely been a week. I'll take my X-Maxx that doesn't fold in half like a taco.
@@snoozeflu don't know. I've never folded any of my race buggies. maybe learn how to drive it?
@@blue03r6 Funny going from calling traxxas toys to asserting the people bending arrmas don't know how to drive.
Racing buggies are tough but they don't weigh 10+ pounds. And they certainly are not meant for the huge jumps these bashers are supposed to be built for.
The Arrmas don't drive particularly well either, even considering they are based on a now 5+ year old and defunct racing company platform.
@@TheFatAssCat what i mean was you can't just bash stuff straight into immovable objects or take them off of cliffs and expect them not to break something. they're all going to break.
Nice gonna pull the plug on AK 8s, Subbed
Like how it handles in the air. Thinking about big Kraton or Outcast.
What did you get Chris? I'm looking as well but probably a 6s line I might get kicked out if I try and bring home a 8s.
THANKS! I just couldn’t figure it out!!!!
Killer first rip with that big beauty.👍👊🏻😱. Awesome review as well.👍👍. Does that suspension have enough travel to bottom out if jumped high enough? Bash on 😎😎
Thanks! It has some pretty good travel. Guess it depends on how high you go.
Hey bud, how do you like this compared to the X-Maxx? If ya had to choose one?
I like thus RC, never owned a 8S, but really on the fence. My only concerns are Plastic Diff Cases, and plastic Shock towers, and the rumors of weak servo! I feel confident in the motor and esc being honest. But, have never had luck with Spektrum Servos. Also id like a legit wheelie bar, and a better front bumber. $1000 at that. Just dont know, could go 6S Big Rock, with Servo, and be under that $1k
This RC is incredible
It's fun!
very thorough bro much appreciated..thank you !!
Only complaint about armma is those dBoots they put on all their cars. They are ok. But man, when I put some Pro-lines or even Duratrax on my Typhon the thing's accell went through the roof!
I was excited for this truck but after seeing all the videos and not being able to get one I’ve lost interest honestly i did order one and I’ve cancelled it as if today seemed like it be fun but to many broke on RUclips wish it would have been available thanks for the video 💪💪🔥🔥👍👍
Great video, can’t wait to get mine!!
As someone contemplating getting into this hobby, would this be a solid basher to start with (even with the high price) or are there better options?
Damn sad been 7 months and not 1 person commented. I been thinking about getting into this and buying either one of these or the x Maxx and can't decide. The parts are cheaper with x Maxx but I like more metal parts with the arrmas. Did you end up getting one?
Arma rules
Get one they are absolutely awesome
@Hoosierdaddyjones812 get one you will love it!
Howdy! Now that you've tested both the arrma kraton 8s blx 1/5 scale and the x-Maxx from traxxas would like to get your opinion on which way my money should go. Traxxas fan for years and very happy with their products and support.
Oh man ur so lucky, om going to my hobby shop tomorrow to see iit in person n probably order one for myself
Awesome Stevo! I'm going Monday to my local shop. We will see if I take it home with me 🤣
It was a fun and intense 3 weeks with the truggy.
XMAXX Blows That away.
Yeah because the price with the xmaxx is much higher
Emiel Goedons their the same price
How did the 8s kraton drive handle and jump???
JOE CAM The xmaxx is hcg this is lcg
@@emielgoedons2098 but it's the same price.....
The Holes in the front can be used as a GoPro CAM in the armored Clear cover Mount, its look like the place a Mount can be Places very secure, then its just to plug on the armored GoPro CAM... IT would be super cool.. the GoPro 7 and 8 are tiny, the GoPro 9 Will fit perfect on the big front... IT Will be known Soon 🤩😉
I would love that 1/5th scale.
What size is the motor can and are there any bigger motors on the market that could be swapped in?
Great overview once again! I don't mind that they didn't reinvent the wheel, but I wish they would have used a cnc chassis instead of stamped. They probably wouldn't have to go overboard with all of those chassis braces with a 7075 chassis. Nice rig though.
Milling 6061 is already way more expensive than stamping 6061. 7075 would cost even more. Perhaps one for an extreme edition?
the only thing that's making this truck looks so big is the wide wheel base take those big fat tires off shorten the A-Arms and it's just another small truck
It is no king. A king can do standing backflips. Imagine that, an 8s rc that can backflip from a dead stop. That's what I'm talking about. That would be a king.
Well the xmaxx is a king
Oh, you're talking about the x max!
The king will be the 1/5 scale that can do standing backflips out of the box. With no upgrades.
A t-maxx with a .21 engine can do that
@@pablolopez5558 I've been doing back flips on my xbox for the last year I haven't had to upgrade anything whatsoever
It's a basher, but too beautiful to bash, haha.
But if I get it, I shouldn't let my kids play it. Too heavy and powerful!
Anyway, thank you for this awesome car review! You're amazing EduTuber!
Love this as all your reviews man. We in the uk are seeing it as £990. Is that around what the us are paying. Thank you for all the great work man. 😊👍

please stop playing music while demoing the rc cars. It is nice to hear how the motor sound and if it bottoms out.
He did, at the BMX Track there is no music....
The music sets the mood. 😉
I gave the video specifically because of the music

Well said!
I hope to steering servo isn't the s605 LOL. I was like, what? . This truck looks so awesome and looks tough as nuts too!
Note to self, write notes on my hand before video shoots.
When will they make a new truck? Seems like the last 4 years i haven't seen new.
Hello Mr RCDriver
I was wondering which one is better the outcast 8s or kraton 8s?
If you prefer wheelies over stability get the outcast. If you want a better handling overall ride get the kraton. Kraton will jump smoother being a longer chassis as well as handle better. Both are still fun though.
looks like it handled a lot better than the x-max with more control no out-of-control wheelies less power is better
Xmaxx has no out of control wheelies and handles nice
What are you fucking nuts. MORE POWER MORE FUN MORE AWESOME LOVE. must be a r/c hater
Looks great !!! We have a few left at Pm Hobby :D
What batterys are you using and How long is the run time on this truck

@@rcdriver than you ! i'm glad you remember my freestyle videos. right now i bash the losi 5b, which is a proper 1/5th. i'm pretty sure the 8s kraton is not as durable as the 5b... ruclips.net/video/MDsP95xt9UU/видео.html but i need heavier tires for more control...
You should get the outcast aswell and race together around the bmx track
Appreciate the videos!
Question? What camera do you film with? So damn clear! Looks awesome!
????????? Why would you have a camera that took crap pictures and videos?
Nice. Uhh. Found out youtube had unsubscribed me. A lot of catching up to do 🙂
Looks and handles like a big e-revo nice job 👍
No like a big kraton lol
I can't wait till these things have some drone technology built in that allows them to self level in flight so they always land correctly.
We're getting there. The AVC certainly helps right now,
That is a great idea!
I think every rc utuber out there has done a unboxing today on this 8S. WTF did all of you have a meeting with Horizon to promote this today?
Thinking the Same ...arrma just hands its cars out to Any RUclipsr without question. maybe we should start a channel. Lol
Some have said in there videos that arrma offered it to them early to purchase. Rcsaylors

No sway-bars huh??? Wonder if they were trying to make it handle a bit more like the X-Maxx? If racing it on a track though might need one.
This by far the best channel for reviews on just about any RC car/ Monster trucks!! What a complete beast the new 8s #KRATON. Question where can I find me a phone mount clip that will connect to my STX2 for my #Notorious 6s rig?
Does it have rubber sealed bearing yet?
Metal shields.
Buy the Fast Eddys bearings, and call it a day.
Nice video. Greg do you have an XMAXX?
Nice thorough overview.
Thanks for checking it out!
Nvm I saw the part where u showed the bearings and I cannot believe they still are not using rubber sealed ball bearings... how much is this beast?
$899.99
That’s $1,256.00 dollars CANADIAN for us up here in Canada 🇨🇦
The XMAXX is $1,199.99 CANADIAN
i love to see you pout some foam wheels and gear it up for 8s amd lower it and do some speed runs compair to the traxxas erevo .20 race them both
I'm curious how this compares to the Losi DBXL-E 1/5th... Def some pros and cons I can see for both. It looks like the Losi has better drive linkage with boots and beefy "Fox" shocks, but Kraton has ostensibly better serviceable access and a full center transmission which seems preferable to me. I do like the Losi look better than the Kraton.
Hey, I'd like everyones opinions: Mojave, kraton 6s, or save up more for kraton 8s??
How thick is the motor shaft? 8 of 5 mm? I have a kraton en typhon 6s both with hobbywing max6 and 1650kv motor (same size as the 1250kv motor in the 8s). Thinking to get the 1250 kV motor in the 1/8 arrma’s.

Awesome review with in depth detail! Subscribed, wish I found this channel sooner! 👍😎👍
I personally always prefer a 6S over 8S. 8S must charge 2 batteries to play 1 round.
What's better the Kraton 8s or the X Max ?
This or the dbxl e 2.0?
Got one they are crazy
I want one so bad!!!😱😱😱
my losi dbxl on 8s is way faster, have you limited the power?? looks really slow and floppy, have seen this on other videos too, for 8s looks more like a 3s setup lol...
Stock gearing and punch
@@EXTREMERC416 cool, was thinking that after i commented, some 5th scale buggy wheels like the mcd rr5 would help too
Here is some basic physics..The 4S Kraton is like 9#, this 8S is 32#. So expecting a 32# RC run same speed is unfair. The stability and tractiin gained by the added weight is its leverage, cause, likely to stay grounded on clay environment.
Geez did Arrma send one of these to every RUclipsr, lol! Seriously though, I'm jealous!
