- Absolutely LOVE this new Big Beast!!! The handling and overall durability is amazing for her size especially. This is a mix of footage from runs 3-5. Tuning the center diff and gearing up really woke this sucker up. I've also shifted my packs rearward about an inch with the adjustable trays for more rear bias. Expect to see some serious performance upgrades soon. Shout out to M2C Racing, Voltage Hobbies, and Fast Track Hobbies in Rocklin, CA. Happy Thanksgiving!!!
This rig can tackle HUGE terrain with style 😱. I'm absolutely loving it 🥰🥰🥰. The handling is unlike anything it's size 👀. Should only get better with a few tweaks and upgrades. I did later find I'd bent my top brace and rear chassis slightly. Probably after stacking it towards the end of the video. I'm running Hobbystar 6000mah 100C 4s HV packs from RCJuice. 😎💪👊👊
Rich Duperbash wat did u need to do to get pinion to fit
@@deontay79ify truth is any Mod 1 pinion with standard 5mm bore will work fine 👍. I just used a small plastic spacer between the gear and C-clip to keep the gear from possibly falling off. The stock gears can't fall off even if the grub comes loose. The stock gear is a bit wider at the teeth and has a D bore to mate with the flat spot on the motor shaft.🍻😎💪👊👊

Thanks so much Kimberly 🥰!!!! You're too kind 🤗. I did bend my top brace and rear chassis slightly after casing it on a mound towards the end of the video 😱🤣🤣. It was easy fix later 👍. I'd never expect a Huge RTR to be indestructible. Still haven't broken a part yet after several hard stacks and rolls. ARRMA did a wonderful job with it. With some M2C love and tweaks, this thing will be completely next level.. 🍻🤙🤙😎💪👊👊
Impressive how nothing has broken considering it's colossal size 👌 for me though too many people are bending the brace and chassis on big sends... this truck just needs the t2t brace supported in the centre and I'm not sure if the lower 2 braces do much because they're held in with pins, not screws?? Surely this would mean they're on hinges and not stiff?
@@yaffajaff it truly is impressive nothing has broken yet 👀. Maybe that'll change as the weather starts getting colder here 🤔. I agree on the top brace needing more support 👍. Especially because it spans quite a distance. All 3 braces have 5mm steel sheer pins that secure the ends in place. It is actually stiff as it forms a triangle. My feeling is the top brace needs to be beefier to withstand the forces placed upon it. 🍻😎💪👊👊

Was hoping to slip out again today between rains, but the rain and wind didn't stop 😜🤣🤣. I'm down for a mud bash, but wind plus rain and my ass is inside 😝. I've been scouting more spots, but several will likely flood out this time of year. The K8s has so much potential on Big rough terrain 👀. That's her biggest advantage I think 👍. You have to keep mass and physics in mind and maintain your sensibilities 😜. Bigger objects take longer to stop...Lol🤣. Definitely a different kind of animal. That said, I've never seen a rig this size handle so damn well 👀. The durability far exceeds what haters want to believe 👊. I call it like I see it based on first hand experience only. Rich Duperbash mine lands with me Tuesday :D I’ve had an FG beetle 1/5 petrol for 20years and even though it’s completely upgraded I would not DREAM of bashing it this hard. These modern cars are juts unbelievably tougher than they used to be.
BTW in UK the latest 8s comes with a upgraded chassis brace kit - kinda v2

So Summer was full of serious Travel with our Trailer and flying the Drones, also Saturday Nights at the IRCA Races. Thought I'll be out with LeAn when we call it a season and put the Trailer away. Then 09/24/19 in the bathroom talking to LeAn and somehow I fell and broke my right Ankle. Paramedics come tell me off to the ER and 12 hours later Surgery, 57 is not fun sometimes. Then we find out the bone cut the ligaments like a knife. 10 weeks of nothing, snow and cold. No Bashing at all. Was all set to track down an Infraction before Christmas. Now this Beast! Arrma keeps going to the well and hitting home runs. Traxxas may be the leader but Arma is the Winner and absolute best. The other guys need to take lessons and build Arrma Tough. Now I've been yelling the infraction is what I want. Maybe I spoke to soon?? Great video Rich, you know how to rock!
Damn Harry 👀!!! So sorry to hear about your ankle 😱. I dislocated mine in 96 playing soccer and had surgery 4 months later. Most painful injury of my life by far. It's so easy to get injured during everyday activities 😝. I actually slipped on the gravel pile in this vid and wrenched my back pretty badly. Didn't realize I hurt anything for about a minute until the muscles locked up. Your injury will take time to recover from no question. Go slow and build up the muscles and flexibility before trying anything too stressful on it. It's easy to strain your Achilles...etc after being off it for so long. Hope for a good recovery Brother 👊. My back is still hurting after 3 weeks 🤣🤣😎💪👊👊

Hi Rich, splurging on catch up. Nice looking rig. Been reading up on it and hoping to make a decision soon. IM really hoping I can share tires between the Kraton 8s and my #32cc Gas Buggy. that would save a lot of cheese. Im loving the fact that Arrma came out with an 5th scale electric rig as it puts a little more agility into the 5th scale Game. Looking forward to next season up here in Maine. I'm assuming the same will have to happen for the 5K8. I agree it feels amazing just needs a bit more power. Then all the glory will be exposed.

what pinion do you recommend for bashing? also, its mod 1?
I'd recommend between 21 and 23T. Been using a standard mod 1. The Kraton 8s optional pinions should be available by now 🤔. They're a safer option because they can't really break free like a standard Mod 1 can if the grub screw comes loose. That ensures you won't lose braking during a potential pinion mishap. 😎💪👊👊

This rig can't really be compared well with the XMaxx. ARRMA wanted to design a bigger Beast with phenomenal handling. That alone sets it completely apart from the XMaxx. 😎💪👊👊

Do you think it'll need a chassis upgrade or do you think a solid tower to tower brace will fix the issue? It's the only reason I'm holding off from buying one.
I think that depends on how hard you plan on bashing 🤔. I'm not sure a totally solid tower to tower is ideal. A 7075 T6 chassis would likely take strain off the bracing too. Going totally rigid places more strain on the towers and bulkheads. We're in the design phase with the upgrades right now. It's always nice to know the options are available either way. 🍻😎💪👊👊

Rich, how big of a difference did the 2.5 mil center diff fluid make? Any need to go thicker than that ? I have the 2.5 mil fluid on order already.
The 2.5 mil definitely makes a difference. Way less power bleed to the front wheels. I may try heavier just to see though 🤔. Probably going to try a 5687 1100kv Hobbywing first👀. Just waiting for a prototype M2C motor mount first 😱👍👍😎💪👊👊

I've been running primarily 23T and haven't broken 120F. That's with ambient outside temps between 50-60F. The stock electronics are very efficient. 😎💪👊👊

Most definitely 👍. You could run 39/39 with the 800kv, but 37/39 might be plenty of top speed especially with the bigger EXB Copperhead 2 tires. 🍻😎💪👊👊

Awesome. I have a the v 1.5 with the better radio and bracing. I just tried it out with the 23t pinion and punch 5 and this thing moves very quickly with the stock electronics. I'm impressed. It seems to be more durable than my 6s Arrma rigs. Now I want the Outcast 8s 😂

Hey rich I’m pretty much sold on this I just have a few questions if you would answer them.
1. How are the diffs holding up so far, I know arrma diffs can be finnicky sometimes
2. Are there any problems with the plastic shock caps? I know if not done right they can be a pain.
3. Any heat problems with the motor and esc on that taller gearing?

Thoroughly enjoyed the video. If you had to choose between owning the 6S or the 8S which one would you choose? I would think that the 6S While smaller can do a lot more and be controlled better in the air, am I correct? Also I have a real Question for you… What are your thoughts on replacing the diff houses front and back, with the aluminum ones. Are those upgrades something you’ve done? When you break one do you simply re-purchase a plastic diff house? Or is there a reason why, aside from them being cheaper that we should keep plastic? Like for flex or weight?
Thanks Brother 👊!!!! Sorry I missed your comment 👀. The 1/8 6s is still my preferred size overall. That said, the 8s can tackle gnarly terrain the 6s really can't. It's a different type of experience driving this Mega Beast 😱. I have ran HR aluminum cases in my Outcast 👍. There's no negative about them from my experience. They only weigh 4gm more than the stock cases. The plus is they don't flex or break and come with an oversized front input bearing 👍. Cost is the only drawback as I see it. Replacing broken diff cases is a chore 😝. Running aluminum can save considerable time spent doing repairs. For that reason they're a pretty good investment. 🍻😎💪👊👊
Go with 6s faster and funner . For 1/5 scale I prefer the xmaxx . I own an xmaxx and contiplated buying an 8s kraton even though I already own a 6s kraton. I test drove an 8s kraton at my hobby shop and I wasn't overly impressed liked I hoped I was going to be. Overall my xmaxx is a better 1/5scale in my opinion, that being said I do have a ton of upgrades💰💰💰. If moneys not an issue buy both. 👍👍💪💪.

I would also agree based on my evaluation (mostly from watching videos on the 8S) that the 6S would seem to be a lot more fun and versatile. I mean you can just see the weight of that 8S and the lack of control in the air that it Offers. If money wasn’t a thing maybe I’d pick one up however for $900 I would probably lean more toward the X max as well. But money is a thing! LOL
