Is the 2023 Honda Accord LX a BETTER sedan to buy than a Toyota Camry LE?

- The Accord is all new and Honda has made some big changes. On the outside of the entry level LX trim you will discover FULL LED lighting, 17in wheels and new grill. On the inside there is more room, a standard 7in infotainment system and 10.25in digital gauge cluster. Under the hood is a 1.5L turbocharged inline-4 that produces 192HP & is mated to a CVT. Is the 2023 Honda Accord LX a better sedan to buy than a Toyota Camry LE?

I'm a big Honda fan, former 2006 Civic Si owner. But the car in this video is the most "preowned" looking new car I've ever seen! I think it's the color/window tint/small wheel combination. Looks 4 years old!
Thanks fir sharing that great info.
My first thoughts as well. Massive step back in looks compared to last gen.
Looks like a rental spec car.
@Raiti's Rides not sure if your using a new camera or whatever, but doesn't look as "live" or clean, as prior.
Not an upgrade
Looks like a used chevy malibu. Last gen was way better in every way
At last somebody is reviewing a base model car. Thank you
You are so very welcome! I love bringing all of the trims as much as I can.
I still have my 17 Accord LX. Over 140,000 miles on it. Excellent car and have had no issues with it, just kept up with oil changes
Oh wow! Thanks for sharing that great ownership input!
My 2010 Accord has over 186K miles and still going strong!
@@apunited come on mang, thats just non-sense.....
2017 with 140k miles? Lots of driving.
@@carwash38 yeah I use it a lot for work
This new accord looks like the Enterprise Rental Car special. If I saw this beside an Altima….I’d chose the Altima. Which is saying ALOT!
Hey hey how, this generation of Altimas actually look kind of nice!! 😂
@@4lifemusiclovaI’m an accord owner. I am currently renting the new Altima and it I am very impressed with how nice it is. They did a great job.
Haaa I’m in one now… from Enterprise! Hey it’s nicer than my other ‘09 Corolla & it was a nice, sporty red so it was cool lol 😊
Thank you for showing these base model vehicles. Maybe I'm too "old school", but there was a time long ago when cars equipped like this were perfectly acceptable to the general public and can be had around $20 K. Something that can actually be bought with cash or at least financed under 5 years and then kept until the wheels fall off for the majority of the public. Gets you from point A to point B in comfort with 15/ 16/ 17 inch wheels and without the extras such as sunroof, leather, power seats, AWD, digital readout temp control, etc. $28K for a base model is still hard to swallow, though and without blind spot monitoring.
Inflation perhaps.😊
No kidding... Jeez, I bought my Kia Optima SX 2020 for 31k with tax and discount at the time. I have Panoramic Roof, heated steering wheel, heated and cooled seats. Dual climate control, 10 speaker 640 watt Harmon Kardon, radar cruise control, lane keep assist, cross traffic alert, real leather seats, 6 speed automatic with paddle shifters and a 2.0 4cyl turbo engine with 245HP and 265 Torque... Seems like I'd have to pay 45K for that today... That's only 3 years ago.. and 5 year 60k warranty bumper to bumper with 100k mile 10 year warranty on power train transmission...
2005 Accord LX was $18500 new when I bought it back in late 2004.
@@emeyer6963 adjusted for inflation that 18,500 worth in 2004 now is worth $29,792.
@@emeyer6963 and it was a much better car than it is today 👍🏾
Thanks for doing these reviews of different trim levels of the Accord. I’m sure it’s not as exciting as the high end luxury and sports cars to review, but it means a lot to people whose means are more modest and just need a basic daily driver. Great review!
Thanks for letting me share it with you!
I agree Tom. I look forward to these basic transportation reviews. I could easily live with this Accord LX.
Agree. I hate leather seats, I live alone so when I buy a car I position the seat and never change it again, so power seats is unnecessary, and since there's no one on the passenger side, there's no need for another temperature setting. I need a car that runs good with an air conditioner, heater, windshield wipers and a radio and can find plenty of fun, frivolous ways to spend the thousands that I saved on the car.
I'd consider this accord but so far I can't get past the plaind looks of it. The last gen was over the top for me, now they went too far in the other direction.
"Knock knock who's there? Nothing" 😂
this is the exact car i got. i got it for under MSRP. so far its great.
Thank you for covering base models. Some people don’t want all the fancy stuff but they do come to YOU to help them comparison shop! Thanks for bringing us along for the ride . . .
Love Accords! Ever since I owned my desert gold 2002 coupe, I've been a believer! Great all-around vehicles.
Thanks for sharing your feelings on this one!
@@RaitisRides aww - thanks so much for your reply!! Love the channel, so many great videos and awesome cars. You always make it enjoyable and interesting to learn more about what's happening in the industry! Cheers 🍻👍
Honda has made the Accord. Less competitive, against it's rivals. The Nissan has the VC 2.0 turbo, with 240hp. And the Camry has an available 3.5-liter V-6, and the Mazda 6 has the 2.5-liter turbo. I don't understand the logic in that. Even if the Accord's 2.0 turbo wasn't a big seller. They could have continued production, but at a smaller volume. Honda is definitely gonna lose customers, that are looking for the 2.0 turbo, to the other 3.
Honda holds its resale value Nissan doesn’t Nissan engines fail fast 😂
I'll never buy a car with cvt transmission....no matter how much I save on mpg's and I think I am not alone...many ppl just hate cvt transmission
I still love my 2022 Honda Accord Sport Special Edition, and I plan on driving it "till the wheels fall off." I saw someone at a gas station driving a 2023 Honda Accord Sport Hybrid, and it actually looks pretty good when you see it in person, up close, but I still like the looks of the 10th Gen much better, sooo sporty.
I would hold on to her!
@RaitisRides no worries about that, my friend. The 10th Gen has a home with me. By the way, I really admire your channel. Keep up the good work!!
10th generation owner here. The 11th generation needs a major refresh starting with underneath the hood.
Terrible idea of them phasing out the 2.0T with the 10 speed.
When you mentioned you were born in 76 I smiled. Aging gracefully & happily bud. You have 26 year old energy!
I believe the Civic and Accord are sharing underpinnings. That they can get 190 HP out of a 1.5 liter is amazing. That was race car efficiency 20 years ago. A really solid car, however, the LX level is $28,390 if you take it bare stock. That is not cheap. It's a nice car, why is the base level 30k? There just isn't a low end Honda any more.
The 17 inch wheel considering all the potholes here in California is a nice. Big wheels are stupid given how bad the roads are.
Thanks Edward for sharing your thoughts on this one.
they can get that much hp from a 1.5 liter because these 4 cylinder hondas love to rev at high rpms like its nothing and can actually handle a much larger turbo than they put on it.
13:20 “Knock knock who’s there? Nothing” 😂 gold and a great review as always
Props for reviewing the base model!
This is the car they give you in the witness protection program.
almost to 1M subs!!! welll deserved man
A CVT's "simulated" shifts make no sense whatsoever. The manufacturer's know it but customers don't buy CVT's without it. Fuel mileage improves and so does smoothness and, probably, reliability.
The 2.0T & 10sp being gone are a huge zonk for me.
But the 2023 new sport hybrid gets 51MPG city though. The 2.0T maybe a beast, but quite thirsty as well in city driving.
I’ve had 6 Accords, but my 18 Sport was by far my favorite. Everything about it felt perfectly executed and those 19” wheels could have been on a car that costs twice as much. I traded it for an Odyssey last year and have cried myself to sleep every night since.
Why did you trade it in for a mini van of all things?
I traded my 16 accord sport for a 23 crv hybrid sport and it's nowhere near as fun as the accord was lol I could not imagine going from it to a mini van
I don’t really mind with this Accord LX because it still gets you Full LED headlights, and I probably think you can paint over that white rim to make it black or something. And Fabric seats I rlly don’t mind
I have the 2024 Lx And I have WiFi in my through AT&T Warner Gable Unlimited wifi and hotspot the features are really good .
Nice review keep up the good work Joe
The 2023 Honda Accord is your grandfather's Oldsmobile.
Omg that’s perfect! Lol
I remember when 17 inch rims were considered big LOL. I wish Honda would have kept the V6 or the 2L turbo motor but I understand emissions are getting more strict and the 2L did not sell well. The Honda Accord was my first brand new car in 1995. The Accord is so expensive now even for a base model. I do not like the 1.5L turbo. I prefer an NA for longevity and lower maintenance cost.
I would prefer the Civic because the Accord has grown so much and the Civic is about the same size as the Accord of 1990s. Good review btw. I am glad you did a review on the LX. Not everyone wants a top of the line model.
the 2L did sell well, Honda just made less of them and they were the top trim, the 2L was one of the most better engines ever made
People keep saying the 2.0T didnt sell well and its not true. I guess i would assume that too seeing how Honda got rid of it but the truth is Honda wants to anger their customers and turn off people to the accord so they gave it this ugly styling with an underpowered engine and the most shitty CVT transmission possible
Great review. Honest and to the point.
Joe I think the this accord looks more classic than the last gen, but the last gen looks sportier.
I think you hit the nail on the head!
My 2011 Accord was a great car but the new ones have tiny engines and no AWD offering like Toyota. I opted for 2023 Camry with an 8 speed transmission, you can keep those crappy CVT transmissions., A real key instead of that push button junk, A engine timing chain instead of engine belt, a larger engine than Honda and a slightly lower price.
It is very interesting!
@pryda1 me tooooo 😊
I have owned many Hondas through the years. Many of them have been Accords, usually the EX or Sport model. I purchased a new 2024 Honda Accord LX this past December. I purchased this Accord as a second car and daily driver to and from work. In my opinion it is the most comfortable smooth riding Honda I have owned. I find myself driving this more and more, even took a recent road trip in this car. The gas milage is also impressive as one of the only two non hybrid Accord models.
Thanks you for sharing you Honda background Carlos.
I love it Joe and Lori and Steve and keep up the good work and I love the video 👏 👍 💯💯💯
Great review Joe.
I was very excited to see the 11th generation and when I first seen this it was like Honda pulled out the rug from all the enthusiasts like myself!
Honda bot
As a pure Honda fan (my current car is a 10th Gen Accord), I eagerly awaited the arrival of the 11th gen. I'm supremely disappointed---shocked is a better word, actually. From the utter 'lack' of exterior styling, to the Taurus grill, to the very cheap looking flat black trim (yes, y'all look closely), it literally exudes cost-cutting measures. And then? Oh yeah, the interior. Compare the dash to the new Civic, which is better trimmed than even the upper strata Accord models. There are far too many things for me to mention here. I was flabbergasted... and an example of the build quality (or lack thereof) can be seen at 11:48 into this video. Look at the seam on the side of the passenger seat.... it's wrinkled. Wholly unacceptable. If you're thinking of buying one of these, do yourself a BIG favor... just walk around and sit in a 10th gen, then do the same for the 2023, all the while looking VERY closely at the details ...that's where they say the Devil is, after all. So, thanks, Honda, you just saved me about $39,000, because I'm gonna keep my 10th Gen Accord until you come back to your senses.
It is crazy the direction that Honda went in Dayne.
Prefer the overall looks of the previous gen..not feeling this one
I really like it. I own a 2018 Camry LE and a 2007 Accord SE with 180,000 on it and its been a very reliable car. This 2023 looks very nice. The back is a big improvement from the awful 2022 tail lights in my opinion. I like the LX better because I prefer more tire and a smoother ride with the 17 inch wheel. Also a car is a depreciable asset. If you spend to much on the EX-L is going to depreciate the same as the LX, plus if you have an accident is $ down the drain. To all of you that say "I don't like the engine it's not 2.0 anymore" Look people this is a family sedan not a race car. And this trend of having a screen that looks like a tablet or laptop is stupid. A car is for driving, a car is not a entertainment center. All of this extras cost money and Honda or Toyota have to rise prices because stupid people want a screen that is 60 inches in front of them and want a push start button on a mass produced car. The Accord or Camry is a mass produced car like toilet paper is produced. If you want something sporty buy a Ferrari or a Roll Royce if you want something special.
This car looks like it was designed in 2009
But it wasn't
When I sat in it at the Auto Show. It's a Zonk. Idky they sacrificed so much luxury design. That cvt sounds horrrrrrible. Bring back the 3.5 V6
Good review as always.. Thanks joe
Thank you fir that extra support! It really means so much!
Not having a 2.0 liter engine, might hurt the Accord sales. The exterior looks questionable, but the last generation looks good.
"Grandpas balls. bowling balls." You're the best , Joe, and your humor is the icing on the cake! When you go "on throttle", it's your facial expressions, vitality level and your exuberance, or lack thereof that tells me how you - Joe Raiti - really feel about a car. When you feel even a little thrill, your fans detect it right away with at least a smile or emoting like you're having fun, or even a total blast. With this car, you looked like you were on your way to a funeral, or perhaps just lost your winning powerball ticket. You looked like you had a bad case of "Zonkitis." Honda cheaped out, cut corners, did some de-contenting and then decided to charge more despite stripping away just enough of what made the Accord a great value proposition, and made the buyer happy. Honda used to make people happy; especially with the base models because they were so well outfitted with few compromises. The Civic is better looking in my opinion, or at least considerably less bland. This company has changed course, with the customers wishes now a mere afterthought and the $$$ grab priority #1.
Hi Joe Excellent Job 👍 as Always Great Job too Lori 👍😁
No turbo for me even if honda!!!
I know it’s not for everyone
Saw one at the gas station… that thang literally look like a while boat 🚤
I like that dash with the mesh. Nice touch!
I think previous gen looks cleaner than the new one.
That's a very nice Ford Taurus. Lol
I see what you did there!
They don't make any ford sedans anymore. That's a honda. I recommend seeing them in person, looks much better up close.
Joe what’s your opinion on top trim Accord to top trim Civic sedan? I’m a lifelong Honda guy but not digging the exterior style and vibe of the Accord. Would you consider a video comparing the 2? Funny to say but I prefer the Civic.
Bland design and lack of the 2.0T motor aside, my biggest problem with this new Accord is how Honda really cheaped out with features that were once standard in lower trims, yet at higher MSRPs. My ‘22 Sport 2.0T has fog lamps, 4-way lumbar on the drivers seat, wireless charging, rear air vents…even 2 piece headrests in the back seat. A 2022 Sport Hybrid has none of these…or even a standard spare tire! Good luck with your Fix-aFlat if you cut a sidewall in a place with no cell phone reception.
That 2.0t was a beast, but sure can’t get 51MPG city like the 2023 Accord Sport hybrid.
This is the base Accord. The previous LX model didn't come with keyless entry, full digital display or remote starter. It was 25k now it's 28k .
@@jml9550 51mpg and cancer with the radiation all those batteries emit! Good luck with that!
I don't know Joe, this just doesn't do it for me. Yes, I think the price is alright they really stripped it down. I think the only people who would want it are the rental car companies lol. Look if my 2020 Fusion base model comes with a bigger screen, that actually has color that's cheaper and older, that's a problem in itself. Oh and it has a 12 volt in the back with freaking AC vents !
Excellent points Chris.

@Eric Brett Well CUB I would agree but I'm set on this one SON. Prove thyself at once
@@chrisgelo1425 YOUS have a ford fusion? Son YOUS can trade that for like 9 old Saturns and invest the rest in a govt iBond at the rate of inflation 6.9 percent and let it compound for five years and take it out. Do YOUS have a 9 car garage ?
@Eric Brett Yes CUB I'S do. Now mee have no money AND FORD likes to give them away for a cheap penny BOOP for that. But no 9 car garage pack
nice n simple.. and also with the 17s, get a little better ride i would imagine
Thieves love stealing the 19” wheels on higher trims and they costs several thousand dollars to replace if you can find them in stock anywhere.
This is the only sedan I wanted to get Joe.
That is awesome Jeremiah!
This car is such a disappointment whether it be the base trim or the top of the line model Honda really dropped the ball on this one
It is a great car and the price is very attractive. For daily use this car is more than enough.
I agree with you Omar.
Thanks for explaining about Accord base model. I have been in Tampa FL, nice place in US.
Thank you for the review of the 2023 Honda Accord LX base trim, I live in Sacramento California and I’m saving for a new car and Honda is on my list.
no hood prop rod on my 2014 EX-L V6, hood has struts that work very well.
Love the review my dad got the sport hybrid lol
That is super awesome!
And then to make it worse I realized there was no 2.0 turbo or real transmission that was the Titanic sinking right there for me!!
Who wants a 1.5 and a CVT? Not me...this is an easy check off my boxes...
It’s reliable, cheap to maintain and it’s an amazing choice for many people who are looking to buy their first car who don’t care about amenities and it gets you from point A to Point B effortlessly. Great review Raiti’s rides but I’ll go with a civic sport touring, all black of course. 😊

That is fantastic to hear Issac,
I’ll like toyota Camry very reliable than Honda accord transmission issue
That is a very good point Allan!
I have a 2014 LX great car so far
It’s crazy that it doesn’t have blind spot monitoring with that long foot print.
This is very true!
I like this, and i like the rims. They remind me of the 2008 Accord LX-P rims
Very good review 👏 👍
Thanks for letting me bring it to you!
I still have my v6 2017 accord can never give that away
Hold on to her!
First they completely drop the stick shift from the accord in 2020, now the new generation ONLY has a cvt? Shame, very disappointed.
The accord used to be the flagship sedan. A LX trim used to be well appointed. My parents have a new civic and I have to say, I see no reason to even buy an accord. This car is disappointing, you can see they really cut costs everywhere you look. Might as well get a K5... No wonder Hyundai and Kia are selling so well.
Nice car, pity we can’t get it in Scotland, quite powerful for a 1.5
I’m sorry Joe, but this Accord is just BAD all around. There are used cars 2-4 years old that are cheaper, better looking and have more features. It’s terrible how Honda butchered this car for the 11th gen….
Well. He gets laid in an
I miss the lobster claws already. The previous gen looked so nice with the Sport trim wheels. This just looks like any 2008 sedan.
$28k seems a bit much for a base trim midsize sedan… after paperwork, that could easily go over 30k which makes the LE Camry an appealing deal starting at $26k
Thanks for sharing your input and perspective on this one.
The bright wheels 🛞 make the side view of this Accord look even more plain.
Nice cars and still a lot of car for your money. Was at a local dealer yesterday saw the EX trim level, a zonk for a non leather wrapped steering wheel.
I've got the 2023 accord touring hybrid. The cost difference between this and the touring model is about 13k. It's well worth the money.
The crash test performance of this car is its best feature. It's the only midsize sedan that aces the new tests.
No 2.0 L and cvt only??? Man they really screwed it up
@Brian Lee I'd prefer CVT's to never have existed. They are all garbage 😂
@Brian Lee there's lots of choices like a Kia K5..
This is the one i'd get, love those cloth seats.
I love the my 2017 Lexus ES350 fake leather. Almost 6 years old and no wrinkles, easy to clean, I wear blue jeans and doesn’t even stain my light color seat.
I loved this over the new Camry for two reasons. 1. Camry seats are so uncomfortable. 2. I’m not a fan of the angry-robot-face design language on the front end of most of Toyota’s models.
So is the fuel mileage better on this or the prior Gen Accord?
You feeling ok Joe? You sound different. Great presentation as always nevertheless.
Great comparison
Hey Raiti! If I get an integra your more than welcome to review my car!
If I was going with a base trim I don't know why I wouldn't go with a Legacy and save 3 or 4 thousand and get AWD.
9th V6 owner.
A car where on throttle actually gives you engagement and fun.
Honda lost the plot
You are spot on the money
To reply to the comment on the wheels, I prefer more tire on the wheel. Smoother ride and better curb/ pothole protection for the wheel.
Haha “the year I also came into the world” love the car!
Hahahahah bowling ball had me cracking up 😂 🎳
I would choose a Mazda 6 over this characterless design anyday. The 6 s interior has so much more charisma too.
I wish they still made the Mazda 6.
Bring Back the 2.0 or even the 3.5 one engine is just not enough options.
Anything to be honest
The rims scream FORD! Can’t put my finger on why but it does look like a newer Taurus!
How's the road noise on this model? The previous one was very noisy
It looks absolutely nice vehicle.
I have this car and I absolutely love it.
Also in 1976 "ROCKY" came out and the Bicentennial.
They want 28k for that shit smh lmao!? Ain't no way man
How much would you say?
@Raiti's Rides for that basic car honestly 22k lol 20-22k
Honda mostly gave up on large sedans and is giving you the bare minimum, sales of large sedans will continue to fall. New drivers moved up to SUVs crossovers. Plus Honda can’t compete with Toyota on price because Toyota is a much larger car company
Toyota can utilize economies of scale and give you more for less. Current Base Camry Le or even a Camry form 6 years ago has more features for smaller price. Accord base is a tin can on wheels with the generic 1.5 engine Honda sticks into 10 different models
Looks like another trim 💯
