Hi Mike, i'm glad you liked it. I find it very easy to find new ideas with this visualisation. I'm actually building an app with a lot of cool functions and rhythms library... it still need some work though.
If your code is on github or similar PLEASE post a link, i'd love to help contribute. This is a wonderful visualization technique. Else a feature request for when the app is ready: to be able to mute one or more drums/cymbals for practice purposes. Great stuff!
Hi Chris, i really appreciate your help, and i'll come back to you, if i need it. Right now i'm learning Kotlin and Android Studio, i already got the basics, and at some point i'll decide with you and the peoples interested of the most useful features etc.. Thank you for your interest.
Practice routine I'm doing with these videos: Start to finish at 0.5 speed. Start to finish at 0.75 speed. Start to finish at 1.0 speed. 45 minutes per groove. I'm tired now haha
These are fantastic I really would love to help support you in bringing this app to life! I think a lot of drummers and percussionists would enjoy this as a tool to help experiment with different grooves as well as learn established ones. Fantastic ♥️
Great! As others have asked... more grooves please! And yes yes yes to your app! Would you team up with someone to build that? If so, you could mention that to your subscribers and see who comes forward. Taking this on an Open Source route would be another way to get contributions, maybe.
Hi Dave, thank you. I'm on my own for the app right now. I'm learning the basics right now, but i've got a lot of ideas to implement already. Thank you for your support, i'll keep everybody updated. The Afrobeat Groove is on the way, i finally deal with the open hihat representation problem.
@@DrumsetFundamentals Incredible way to learn! It's helping me a LOT! Thank you very much! And like Dave asked, it would AMAZING to have other grooves! Love it!
Hi Ian! I just proposed this to my friend - could I resurrect your code? Is it on github? Even unfinished - whatever you have might be a good starting place
Ok dumb question here since im not a drummer: what is the difference between a floor tom and a rack tom? Is it the same as saying one is a hi pitched tom and the other is a lower pitch? Thats what im hearing so im assuming it is?
Hi, yes it's just the size. Generally when they are large, they sit on the floor. So floor tom is in general lower pitch than the rack toms. But there's no difference in the nature of the drums.
I'm having an extremely difficult time playing this on my drum set. Was this recorded on real drums, or was this done on a computer or in pieces? I'm going to jump off a bridge if I cant play this thing exactly how it is here. I'm struggling to get all the limbs playing the right thing and staying on point
Hi Tim, Play it very slowly and you should get it. This version is not done on "real drums" because the accuracy was my priority not the "human touch" for this series. So it will sound even better when played by a drummer with touch :)
Hi 80omarb, I'm sorry i don't think i understand your first question. For the second question, no it has nothing to do with the BPM, it's the "mathematical" static representation of the rhythm, So there's no time signature or main subdivisions, like it's needed for traditional notation.
Drumset Fundamentals can I work with you to clarify that goal? I have a background in entrepreneurship, software dev, project management. My first advice is build and launch this exact system for all the interested people who have commented!!!! They are your best users, and are offering to work with you (including me). No need to do it all alone.
Hi Patrick, thank you very much for your help, When you say to launch it with this exact system, what do you mean. The app is a groove library ? or something where the user can change the pattern, a kind of drum machine ? Anyway, i'll get in touch with you as soon as i'm working on the app more deeply. Right now i need to sort out some priorities before. I agree, do it all alone will take me too much time and i'll not be as good as a collective work. But i really like when the purpose is very clear, and simple. I don't want it to be a "do it all" app, so everybody opinions can't make it to the final app. But you surely know how to deal with that with your background. Thank you Patrick, i'll contact you back.
Mate, this visualisation of the kit is incredible. Please make a huge library of content implementing this concept and take my cash.

@@DrumsetFundamentals Will you ever do Steve Gadd's Fifty Ways groove? That'd be insane to see represented like this!

I'm making a javascript app with a circular rhythm track, we should work together if you're interested. I love your animations!

@@DrumsetFundamentals ok thank you. Also, on the hats you have a black dot and a clear dot. Does the clear one mean open hi hat?
Yes :)

0.5x slower sounds groovy
hello based on what the amount of white dots on the circles?
Hi, it's based on the minimal amount of steps necessary to play a particular rhythm.
@@DrumsetFundamentals are there any reference schemes for each musical genre? so it has nothing to do with time or bpm?

Hi Patrick, No the app is not finish, the purpose i want for it is still not clear, so it's still in conceptual phase. Thank you for your interest.
