Valentin Silvestrov(1937-) is a Ukrainian contemporary composer. His bagatelles are magnificent. I would like to recommend to listen to the album of Hélène Grimaud, 'MEMORY' and Best of Silvestrov(DG).
His "Silent Songs" (1974-77) - especially "La belle dame sans merci", then his First String Quartet (1974) and also his Fifth Symphony (1980-82) is an absolutely master piece. Silvestrov is one of the most gifted composers of our time.

I seemed to hear Beethoven in his own very very romantic adagios, absolutely ideal! The performance of this experienced pianist made me remove from my room so much that she almost does not breathe so as not to interrupt this flowing music which seems to come from a stream. If you have the opportunity to see one of her recitals, go. She is incredible. I saw her perform at the Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles last year. Wow! So much talent.
Finally received the sheet music which I ordered months ago.oomimh forward to playing this and many other Solvestrov works in this book of his work. I have enjoyed playing his bagatellen. What a great way to record this piece. Perfect.

For Piano Solo, Valentim Silvestrov . Słucham tego otworu po raz szósty, zachwycam się nim, jego wyjątkowo powolną kompozycją, jego delikatną spokojną melodią, jak również pięknym wykonaniem. Gra sama He’le’ne Grimaud. Niektóre fragmenty tego utworu, porażają pięknem melodii. W nagraniu filmowym jest świetne połączenie fragmentów muzyki, z ograniczoną ekspresją artystki . Zwróciłem uwagę na jej oczy, ona gra oczami i dyskretną mimiką twarzy, ona patrzy w nuty tak, jakby grała ten utwór po raz pierwszy, ona rozmawia z nutami ,daje dyspozycje delikatnym palcom. Kilka pięknych taktów na początku tego utworu ,słychać w jego końcowej części .Podziękowanie dla Piotra Garbaczewskiego,że znalazł coś tak pięknego.

January 26, 2023 at The Soraya at Cal State Northridge. She is playing this piece, more Sylvestrov and Mozart.
