- How to fix "There Is No Connected Camera" WITHOUT USING TERMINAL!!! I hate how everyone keeps talking about using terminal, because I tried it, and let's face it, it just didn't work for me.
I decided to do this tutorial because I got this problem and was trying to figure out a solution with no working answers online, until recently.
sudo Killall VDCAssistant
sudo killall AppleCameraAssistant
These DON'T work at all for me!!!
But then I tried another way and it WORKED!(In the end haha)
Hope this helps someone out there! If anyone has any other suggestions on how to fix the no connected camera issue then please let me know thanks!

🤣🤣 the way you were like "okay so it didnt work.." love the transparency man
thumbs up to the vid for giving me a laugh during my struggle 😁
It worked on the 1st try! Thank you
It freaking worked !!!! I’ve been having this issue for a whole year and I’ve tried the terminal and that didn’t help . Thank you so much !
duude it actually worked first try! I remember trying it with the terminal commands, but it didn't do it for me, thanks so much!
It worked for me after you said it didn't work I thought it's another dead end like the terminal but I decided to give it a shot anyway and it did....Thanks a bunch
Thank you!!! I tried this today on my MacBook Air 2011. I have not been able to get the camera to work at all for the last 6 months and the camera is now working again!! I think the key is to do a restart after the PRAM reset. My experience: The first time the MacBook booted up after the Shut Down/PRAM reset (eg. Command, Alt, P + R buttons) the Photo Booth camera light started blinking and eventually went back to the "There Is No Connected Camera" error. I then decided to Shut Down again, do the PRAM reset again, then I let the MacBook load, then once finished I did a Restart, all without opening any camera related apps. Once restarted, I then opened Photo Booth and FaceTime which both work with the camera now. Also, throughout this whole process I closed all open applications and deselected "Reopen windows when logging back in" to make sure no other application was conflicting with the PRAM reset.
So to sum up the steps:
1. Shut Down (be sure to select deselect "Reopen windows when logging back in")
2. Do PRAM reset (make sure you hold the buttons and hear 2 startup tones - the 1st when you press Power, the 2nd after you have been pressing the buttons for a few seconds, then release)
3. Sign-on
4. Restart
5. Sign-on
6. Photo Booth and FaceTime. You can also see the camera listed in System Preferences/Security and Privacy and About this Mac/System Report/Hardware.
I hope this will work on my mcbook :
Your experience mirrors mine. I had found the same Opt+Cmd+P+R restart method last week, restarted my MacBook, and it worked. But today, camera is not working again, and no matter how many times I use this method now it still doesn't work. So frustrating!
me too! Only works sometimes. I really want to know what the issue is and fix the problem. But haven't found any other solutions so far!
@Hee Dooch have not sorry :(
It worked for me the first time. I kept the buttons held down for 3 cycles before letting go of the buttons and the camera worked as soon as it came up. Thanks I've tried so much and nothing worked except this.
Well....it worked after I did this last night but this morning it wasn't working again and I didn't shut my computer down. So, I don't know what's going on with my computer.
I clicked on the middle of your video and you say "ok so it didn't work i just left it alone" so that saved me a lot of time so I appreciate the honesty LOL. Off to find another method to fix mine
Not sure if you watched the full video or just the mid way point, but it did work again after restarting the computer again. Hopefully you've figured out a fix to your camera though!
I did, mine still hasn’t come back on after weeks later of trying the commands in terminal. Gonna replace the camera and cable most likely. Thank you though!
hot DAMN.... spent hours surfing google to no end! finally found this video and it worked INSTANTLY! THANK YOU SO MUCH, BUD!
THANK YOUUU IT WORKED FOR ME AT FIRST TRY I REALLY NEED MY CAM FOR THESIS DEFENSE THANKYOUU😭😭😭😭

Hi. I tried this today on my MacBook Air 2011 and it worked. My steps were slightly different:
1. Shut Down (be sure to select deselect "Reopen windows when logging back in")
2. Do PRAM reset (make sure you hold the buttons and hear 2 startup tones - the 1st when you press Power, the 2nd after you have been pressing the buttons for a few seconds, then release)
3. Sign-on
4. Restart
5. Sign-on
6. Use as normal. Photo Booth and FaceTime should now show cameras. You should also be able to see the camera listed in System Preferences/Security and Privacy and About this Mac/System Report/Hardware.
pertchick ok thanks I will try that
MacBook Pro 2015 nothing worked for me what my problem was I opened my Macbook pro and on logic board from screen to logic board there is tiny camera cable that was detached from the logic board that fixed my camera
I have a MacBook Pro 2015 and my camera hasn't worked for years... have tried everything except opening it up.. might have to see if this is the problem with mine too! Seems to be a lot of the 2015 models that have this issue hmm

Worked first try!!! Thank you, nothing else was working!
Go to safe mode - about this mac - system report - camera. If your camera doesn't show up, it's a hardware issue. Maybe something disconnected or damaged.

Why all the dislikes? It worked for me (2017 Macbook Air) on the first try. What are people doing wrong?
Luckily, all I had to do was restart my iMac, to get the camera back. Whew! That was close- I had to sign and send some important papers and God forbid I had to do it the old fashioned way (seriously Preview saves lots of time when signing pdfs).
My FaceTime camera is just frozen on the side and it says power saver idk how to take it off can you help?
I tried many time but it didn’t work 😔😔😔 my macbook is air 2020 so saddd please HELP
First time worked and then I had the same issue and now it’s not working
Edit: it worked after 3 times legend imma like this vid and sub right now
Yup didn't work for me either
My Mac is blocked by Kaspersky from accessing the webcam
Does this work for Omegle?
Thank you so much, it worked on the first try!!
Sorri I have same problem the camera not connected I following to you the video why not worked? Can you help me please
thanks so much!!!! worked like a charm....you are the man!!!!
Even though this didn't worked for me, in the end I found out that the Kaspersky Internet Security app causes the camera issue for me. So killing the app fixed the problem. In case someone has the app and masterbrendan's solution didn't work, try this
It is not getting on with these commands.
Thanks Maria! You have reminded me that Kaspersky has been installed on my Macbook. Kaspersky just blocked the access to webcam by any app under the privacy setting, I can get back my camera after I opt for no block.
@@user-cp8jk9wt5n You're welcome. I'm glad my solution could help you as well :)
hello
I went through the terminal and type sudo Killall VDCAssistant
sudo killall AppleCameraAssistant but it shows "No matching processes were found" and I went to the activity monitor to look after the VCD but it is not there
what shall I do to activate my mac camera?
