Get Continuity Camera Working on Sonoma for Your iPhone

This video was inspired by a comment someone posted on a prior video regarding the continuity camera featuring in the new MacOS Sonoma not working. It turns out that it does work as shown in this video.

What I did is unclicked "Automatically select camera" in Facetime. I did have to connect my iphone to my Mac directly just for the Mac to recognize it again. I disconnected the iphone and it did work!

Nice. I find it amusing that this type of coaxing is needed to enable a function for the Mac Minis given Apple has sold millions of them. Where’s the love?

Thanks a lot. I’ve had a same problem(continuity camera not working issue) so I connected a cheap usb webcam to my Mac(m1 MacBook Air) and it finally recognizes my iPhone 13 as a camera. Very useful video. 👍

Do you have to keep the web cam
Connected for it to recognize the iPhone?

Once it recognizes the iPhone as a webcam, it may be okay recognizing it sans another webcam for an extended period of time, but an update or upgrade will bring back the need to connect the webcam.

@@Ptpop Nope, once the webcam connected, your phone will be recognized as a camera on your Mac without further connections.

No, you must have an XR or later for the continuity camera option to work.
