As someone else pointed out, it is happening with a lot of companies. The problem is companies like Blackrock. They have purchased a major stake in these companies stock. They have quietly told the C suite types that they will dump the stock if they don't play ball. They have also used this to place their "controllers" on the board. This will get worse until the pain from lack of sales allow them to reclaim the board.

All of us, Harley enthusiast are “fanboys“ of the brand but what’s going on with the move to Thailand and corporate woke policy, supporting the opposite of what the core customers support is a double stab in the back. I have never bought a brand new bike in my life. I do not plan on it. If I were to do so I would most likely buy a Harley Davidson. I have stopped buying Harley T Shirts. Not because of this. I will not pay over $40 for one. I did buy 2 shirts at a dealer earlier this year. They were on clearance and were $36.95 for both. I agree we all know what is the best Harley Davidson model is. I'm glad you did this video, and you laid it out in a very calm and concise way. Everything you mentioned is completely true. I may be able to add another insight. During the housing crisis, a couple of positioning statements were made while Wall Street was floundering: Too big to fail and Strategic Default. Wall Street wants chaos, not steady calm growth. Big gigantic floundering companies are looking for any reason to claim losses, downsize, and restructure. Stagnation is the biggest threat to Wall Street. Money must move. Hedge funds need victims. Study the Mafia, lightning struck a lot. Insurance pays, family construction company gets work, and everyone moves on. From what I can see, production in Taiwan saves 75% of the manufacturing costs of a product. Harley Davidson is only making money on Baggers, Merch, and Accessories. The low volume bikes are a huge liability that no amount of creative financing can fix. Nobody is buying a cheap bike along with a Bagger to save the bottom line of Harley-Davidson. The Pan America is a flop, too. Harley-Davidson is a brand with a huge ego. It also reflects that a lot in its target demographic as well, and I suppose it's only natural for people to get butthurt about an overpriced aspirational recreational vehicle of questionable workmanship and quality. People will also take a valid political outrage to it as well, but that's a battle that has already been lost. Hopefully, this is all just an exercise in recreational outrage, and it will blow over soon.
Wow, thanks for the kind words and all the 2008 reminders! You're so right, though! I also hope it blows over and we can get back to Harley vs Goldwing again... that was far more fun! :)

@@RoadReality A new Gold Wing, can't do it until my house sale goes through. Been looking at them a while, I have 66,000 miles on RGS so I like to ride, but it certainty has not been trouble free, far from it. Bud light tried it and didnt back down and are still suffering, Tractor Supply and John Deere also tried it but saw very quickly it was affecting their sales and dropped those stupid policies. You're right about the other companies... it's almost like Harley Corporate is doing this on purpose. They've seen how it effects other companies already.
I doubt Americans understand just how bike-mad Thais are. Most people, men and women, learn how to ride a motorcycle from a very young age. So Harley moving to Thailand makes a lot of sense from both a financial and cultural viewpoint. There's a reason the Big Four, Indian, Royal Enfield, KTM, have much of their manufacturing in Thailand. Of course, that comes with a darker side; Thailand has the highest vehicular death rate in the world.
While I don’t totally agree with you on this one, I stay out of politics on my channel. Nothing but respect for you, my friend, regardless of your politics.
See... you probably STILL don't know how I lean politically ... and that was half the point :D We're all motorcycle people... or vehicle people, whatever. We're all PEOPLE. Thanks for watching, RJ!
@@602North And THAT, my friend, is why I usually stay out of politics on my channel. At some point, people forgot that despite our differences, we're all PEOPLE. And we can get along, even if our viewpoints are different. Except for people who play on their phones when driving, or don't like motorcycles. They aren't people :D
In my opinion, I really don’t care what the HD company is doing in regards with this Woke thing. Boycott ??? For me, price and quality will be the determining factor if I ever buy another Harley. The way it is right now, I can’t afford another new Harley. As for where they manufacture bikes, that is a business decision like every other manufacturer for cars and bikes make.
All of my riding friends ride Harleys and I can say they all care about this recent stuff, and they all are concerned about it. I've never heard them dissing so hard on HD ever before. I think the backlash might be larger and more widespread than you think it is? 🤔
Well, based on the feedback I got on this video... I AM wrong. And Harley has already started walking it back, so yeah, there's that. This is a side effect of being a solo rider I guess.
I was just at a Harley and Indian dealership this week. I got out the door pricing for a Low Rider S and Sport Chief. Both bikes have the same MSRP. $19,999.00 The out the door price with all the dealer markups are as follows: Arrowhead Harley-Davidson Peoria Az $26,083.00 Ridenow Peoria, Az. $22,500.00 The dealer markup for the Harley is 16% more. If you're willing to pay that for essentially the same bike, you're just plain stupid.
Holy crap, that's BAD! Our local dealers aren't marking up the Harleys that bad... at least the ones I've been to recently. That's a significant chunk of change, I wouldn't blame ANYONE for buying the Indian.
@@Joe.O_623 I will, if I get into the market for a new bike. Right now, my 2019 Street Glide is running fine and paid for, and with today's economy, like I said, I'm not interested in spending the coin to replace mine. The most recent dealer I was talking to, just out of curiosity, didn't mention anything more than MSRP, and were making deals under MSRP on new bikes to get the sale.
I enquired about a fully loaded Gold Wing DCT that offers way more than the a basic 24 Roadglide BUT the MSRP of the Honda is the OTD price, no extra added Harley taxes which makes it CHEAPER than the Roadglide plus it has heated grips and seat, full size trunk, electric screen, electronic controlled suspension and auto transmission its super quick plus don't forget reverse....oh and they normally run 200,000 miles or more on regular gas!
A few remarks if I may: First Amendment Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances. Definition DE&I: Diversity, equity, and inclusion are organizational frameworks which seek to promote the fair treatment and full participation of all people, particularly groups who have historically been underrepresented or subject to discrimination on the basis of identity or disability. Taken from Wikipedia. Seeing similarities here? What does that mean for those who call a DE&I policy woke? Are they calling the spirit of the constitution woke? Just food for thought .... As for the business related decisions HD has made recently, everybody who follows the HD business performance over the last let's say 10 years, knows that the demographic works against the MoCo. While Levatich had his way of trying to manage that, Zeitz has a more radical one probably due to massive support (or pressure) of those hedge funds we all have our 401k in. I haven't met anyone yet who told me that he likes his funds managers to invest in HD because that's the bike brand they ride and it stands for something . Everybody I know likes to maximize their 401k profit ... Zeitz just makes those unpopular decisions his predecessors didn't have the guts to make. Reality is the HD line up needs trimming, serious trimming. Too many models means too much cost . A bike that cannot earn its cost has to go. I find this whole woke discussion initiated by a wanna be failed politician who never in his life took on the responsibility of being a protector and provider, ridiculous. And it's even more ridiculous that people follow him without thinking it through, first. That says something about the state of society ... Doesn't it? I fully support HD and will continue to support HD. John, you got a few great points in your presentation in particular when you talk about the work related items. I share those views wholeheartedly. 👍 Ride safe 🤙
Thanks for sharing that comparison - it DOES have a striking resemblance, doesn't it? It's a whole Pandora's Box to open, so I'll just crack the lid a bit... and say that the loudest ones ... by and large, aren't even buying bikes. They have 20yo motorcycles and no intention of trading them in or buying a new one. I will agree that the HD lineup needs trimming... and based on what I've seen recently, it looks like that's starting to happen. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment. I'm glad I got a few points across. :D

How can you say "i bought my Street Glide because it's a Street Glide, not because it's a Harley", then turn around and say you take pride in being a "Harley owner" and enjoy wearing the clothes and hats because being in the Harley lifestyle is aspirational. Total contradiction there. So you love the brand, but nothing that brand does effects you? Also, which other motorcycle company's CEO came out and referred to themselves as the "Taliban"?
Hey, once you're in, you're in, right? Harley was and is an aspirational brand. Before I bought my Street Glide, I test rode other bikes, and it fit me the best. I can see how you'd see a contradiction there, though. That Taliban comment is... confusing to say the least... what the heck is a "Taliban of sustainability"??? No other CEO that I know of has said such a thing.
@@RoadReality i always ask Harley guys the same question. If Harley had none of the history and heritage, would people still flock to them? Lets say hypothetically Harley was an emerging brand without all of the pre-established culture, would people still swoon over them? 9 times out of 10, the answer is probably not. Turns out the majority of Harley owners were attracted to the brand first, the motorcycles 2nd. I chose my motorcycle because i was attracted to the machine first. I didnt know anyone that owned one, and i had never seen it before. After owning it a while, i fell in love with the brand. Machine 1st, brand 2nd. I didnt buy it because "my dad/neighbor/friend owns one"
@@NicePantsLance That's a great question to ask, and honestly, I might not have bought a Street Glide from a new brand. I fell in love with the looks of it, then the sound, and the feeling of riding it. That MIGHT'VE happened, even if Harley was a new brand. I loved my Kawasaki Vaquero before this bike, but always wanted the Street Glide [money was an issue at the time]. I know I bought my KZ650SR because my dad had one, and when I first got my Vulcan 800, I thought it was neat that I had a bike in the same brand as my dad had... but that bike was a gift [that cost me money to get running, of course], so I didn't really go and pick out a bike. I WANTED to like the BMW K1600B and Goldwing more, but after sitting on them, I just couldn't get the Street Glide out of my head.
Most people running around yelling Woke have no idea what they're mad about, they're yelling because someone in some video told them too. As for the Rev Max being outsourced, people are pretending to rage but they also hate the revmax bikes and refuse to buy them. SO if you won't support the bikes, and you want to boycott the company you don't get to complain when the company cuts costs to survive. These people are just dumb
Hence people of a certain political inclination are the ones running around yelling in their underwear's. Mind you these are the very same people who boycotted Budweiser thinking that company will gets destroyed, did it? We all know the answer to that. These folks dont even need a reason to be angry about something at this moment, yet the call other side as snow flakes. We are living in a clown world.
@officialwildcardadventures While I don't disagree, my time is limited, so having a dealer close-by to service the bikes is important. Maybe if one opened up closer, I'd consider the switch
So let me get this straight, Harley Owners of a particular political inclination are angry because a CEO of a company said something they perceive as "WOKE". While the very same company had been selling them motorcycles that are not only badly engineered but using outdated tech, low to nonexistent quality controls. A bike that come pretty much broken from the factory and as a owner you are expected to keep on fixing it and never get it quite right, essentially paying through their noses for something that is built to keep on breaking. All these things never made them angry but some how a perception of "WOKE" made them loose their marbles. There is not much left to be said. As for American manufacturing quality, its an oxymoron today. Bet motors made in Thailand will be better made than what ever is being made in the good ol US.
As someone else pointed out, it is happening with a lot of companies. The problem is companies like Blackrock. They have purchased a major stake in these companies stock. HD are OK with me but not the duds. Why does anyone want to be a walking billboard, with no compensation for the advertising?
Good question. Not sure why we do it. To show off, probably.
I had no idea, thanks for that info!
That fun subject 😊😊😊
LOL, right?
Hey I love my Harley Streetglide! But I will never buy a new one
While I don’t totally agree with you on this one, I stay out of politics on my channel. Nothing but respect for you, my friend, regardless of your politics.
See... you probably STILL don't know how I lean politically ... and that was half the point :D
We're all motorcycle people... or vehicle people, whatever. We're all PEOPLE.
Thanks for watching, RJ!
@@RoadReality nope! And don’t care. I like watching you for you.
What a realist POV, how dare you! :)
Love it, Craig!
That was certainly an opinion
All of my riding friends ride Harleys and I can say they all care about this recent stuff, and they all are concerned about it. I've never heard them dissing so hard on HD ever before. I think the backlash might be larger and more widespread than you think it is? 🤔
Well, based on the feedback I got on this video... I AM wrong. And Harley has already started walking it back, so yeah, there's that. This is a side effect of being a solo rider I guess.
HAVE YALL NOTICED IT ALL TARGETS BLUE COLLER WORKERS
That's a great point! That's a big problem :(
To funny road glide vs street glide 😂 great stuff.🎉 cheers 🍻
Thanks :D A little levity goes a long way.
I got 24 road glide nothing but problems since I've got it
That's a shame. First year vehicles almost always seem to be problematic
Indian went woke a few years ago.
Yeah, they did... and walked it back recently. That's telling.
Well done 👍🏼
Thank you 😁
Wow..And John wades into the Frey. Good luck Buddy….says the guy who had his own recent rant 😂 haha
Yeah, here we are, knee-deep in it.
What rant did you have recently?
I was just at a Harley and Indian dealership this week. I got out the door pricing for a Low Rider S and Sport Chief. Both bikes have the same MSRP. $19,999.00 The out the door price with all the dealer markups are as follows:
Arrowhead Harley-Davidson Peoria Az $26,083.00
Ridenow Peoria, Az.
@RoadReality You might want to double-check that. You might be surprised. Harley deserves everything it's got coming.
@@paineys3341 sounds good to me! Add highway pegs and call it a day, right?
Those 3 id never buy
What does Willie G have to ssy about it i wonder.
He's been quiet about all this... I wonder if he's planning a less-than-cordial takeover? :D
A few remarks if I may:
First Amendment

@@RoadReality no offense intended, John. As you mentioned, too many of these videos show up and it baffles me that people who should know better like Jerry Palladino fall for this crap. My subscription list gets very lean these days cause I ain't watching presentations of people that trip over their own feet while tying their shoe laces.
@@araneaetvelivolum1086 None taken! I wasn't sure if my POV on the subject would come across or not - so I'm glad to know it did. I really hemmed and hawed about putting out this video, but felt I had a different take on it that people might want to think about, so I did it.
I guess you're gonna un-subscribe now... I'm pretty clumsy, LOL.
All the big companies are doing it. Sick of hearing about Harley woke crap ! Love Harley-Davidson and always will.

American iconic bike, but the owner is not even American
I know, right?
Road Glide !!
You're biased ;)
@@RoadReality look who's talkin !!
@@Jarvisbiker Well, DUH :D I know I'm biased!
Stay on topic! This is not a normal Road Reality video. Most of the chatter is by people that do not ride, or just want clicks. Everyone that I know, that is in the corporate world has taken these types of trainings. Welcome 21st century. HD is not just company. Its a community! I enjoy being part of that community, and its members would be why I buy another one. We are Harley Davidson.
WE are Harley... man, THAT'S powerful. Guess all of us owners should buy up all the stock we can and make the changes we want to see... someone ought to say that out loud! ;)
And yeah, I've certainly taken my fair share of training around this stuff...
Thanks, Jerry :D
Your mindset will only encourage the continued discrimination the policies encourage
Right Road Glide is best
Ooohhhhhh kkkkaaaayyuu
Im safe My Harley Identifies as a Chopper !
Hahaha
Agreed!
Looks like you were wrong. Hardly Davidson backed up off that DEI BS in a hurry.

I stopped giving Harley Davidson my $ over a year ago. Go woke, go broke.
I'll save you all the trouble, just buy an Indian.
Honestly, I wanted to go look at one, but the nearest dealer is over an hour away
@@RoadReality it's worth the trip.
Yeah, the Honda Owners Group doesn't have these problems.
You like to hear yourself talk. I got to move on
