We would love to see these tinted sunscreens on different skin tones and colors. As a person of color, I always am skeptical of tinted sunscreens not being a match for my skin color and tone. Here's an idea: How about we get to see more colabs with people of color or just Dr Dray sharing pictures from when she asked her followers on instagram to share how these sunscreens look on their skin color and then make a video to share them with us!

Here in Brazil La Roche Posay have a system of creating your own color, dropping the color product into the colorless sunscreen in your hand. Average brazilian is darker than me, so even the 'light' shade is way too dark for me. I dont use tinted sunscreen anymore because it stains the beard.
      Edit. Is called Color Dose

For anyone with a fair complexion who finds the COTZ Flawless tint a little too dark, or finds the shiny finish not to your taste, or needs added hydration and skin barrier support, or needs water resistance (80 min), or enjoys a silky smooth finish…give the COTZ Face Moisture SPF35 Lightly Tinted a try. It contains 16% zinc, iron oxide, ceramides, and dimethicone which gives a blurring effect to the pores. Can be worn under makeup or on its own.

@@pencilfriendpaperscribbler6032 with bioderma I usually purchase the light colour (they also have a very light colour but I do prefer a bit of a “bronze” so to say).
I can’t really say which one suits your skin type best. You have to keep trying different brands and their shade ranges and see what works for you.
What I also used to do was to put on a mineral sunscreen that is quite white casty and to mask that I would come on top with any tinted mineral sunscreen that I preferred that day. Also, you can blend in your hand some mineral sunscreen and a bit of tinted mineral sunscreen to create your preferred shade. Both methods worked well for me and that’s what I usually do on a daily basis.

I found the ceraVE to make my face look a tid bit oily. It's the best color match for me however, that blends in okay that I've found so far. Some tinted sunscreens can be a little more on the orangey/dark side or not blend in as well look kinda cakey. I have skin that is on somewhat the oily side but not super oily.. CeraVE moisturizer is supposed to be good for all skin types, many dermatologists recommend.. I'm not sure about the sunscreen sunscreen though, seems a bit heavier.

Although I'm not sure if it's meant for sensitive skin or not.. I haven't had issues but I don't have sensitive skin just have acne prone skin-I know everyone's skin is different. It's not super cheap though around $30 a bottle.

I needed this today!! I know this is a little different from your usual content, but could you do a video on skin and hair care for swimmers? The chlorine is so harsh on skin and hair, especially if you have skin conditions or wavy/curly hair or if you are an athlete. I swam for years in my youth and had terrible frizzy hair and ashy skin to the point where I stopped this wonderful form of exercise because I was tired of always being itchy and having unmanageable hair. I cobbled together this haircare routine from various Reddit forums and articles years ago and it seems to work, but I'm sure there are other things I could be doing prevent dryness, itch, and aging. Swimmers will really appreciate this, and it's a good time since summer is pool season! Thanks, Dr Dray

Before I swim I slather my hair in Aldi's Argan Oil Hydrating conditioner (sulphate free) and put Vaseline Intensive care on my body, including fingernails.
Ascorbic acid (Vitamin C) neutralises chlorine, So I put my Vitamin C serum (with ferulic) on my face when I get home.
Can I ask how do you incorporate ascorbic acid into you pre/post swim hair and skincare routine? I am afraid that of the concentration was too strong it would turn my fair skin and blonde hair orange😳

    • @scubashar
      @scubashar 2 года назад +2

@@nadab4750 It was a little tricky figuring out how to use the solution at the pool. You can't make a big batch ahead of time since absorbic acid loses its efficacy in a day or so of contact with water. I keep a small jar of absorbic acid crystals in my bag. The ratio I use is 2 tablespoons of absorbic acid crystals to 1 cup of water, and I use a blender bottle (the kind used for workout shakes) to mix it quickly at the pool. I'm not very precise with this ratio in practice, but I have not had any problems yet!
I got the absorbic acid crystals at a local supplement store. The crystals are white in color, so I don't think you have to worry about your hair turning orange 😅 but my hair is black so I wouldn't know for sure.
Thanks for sharing your routine! Sometimes I use Aquaphor on my cheeks because I get dry there.

The Sun Bum Mineral sunscreen is really nice and does not give you a shiny appearance. It’s great on no-foundation days. I bought the Cotz 50 spf at the same time and liked it okay but wasn’t crazy about the consistency, given it’s not water-resistant. The Eucerin Age Defense 50 SPF (which you covered in an earlier video) is fantastic and I wholeheartedly recommend.

I find I also love their 40 spf for face and body it has almost NO White cast on me once it sets plus you get more product. Love most of their products ive tried. For anybody attempting to pursue Blue Light protection, I'd like to stress in this video that she says, *"MAY offer..."*
In other words, there is no guarantee that the tinted sunscreens mentioned in this video will actually yield said protection simply based on the fact that they contain iron oxides. This goes for makeup as well.
Unless these brands have done rigorous testing (which I would guess they have not) to show the tint in their sunscreens offer Blue Light protection, then I wouldn't get my hopes up. Yes, you MAY be getting SOME protection, but don't think you need to run out and buy a tinted sunscreen to incorporate into your routine.
Blue Light protection offered by Iron Oxides highly depends on the type-quality, percentage used, formulation, correct density/amount applied to the skin, as well as the ratio of red, yellow, and black pigments. To my knowledge, Colorscience is one of the few brands out there to demonstrate these results in testing, to actually make the claims that their sunscreens offer Blue Light protection. If anything, I would rely on Avène's new TriAsorB filter over any tinted sunscreen based on iron oxides.
In summary, just choose a sunscreen you enjoy wearing, and reapplying. Don't mix products, don't over-think layering products, and don't fall for the internet buzz or hype around the necessity for Blue Light protection.

I have a darker skin tone and the Cotz one have been working quite well for the past few weeks. It is shiny and doesn’t really leave a cast to my eyes. The sunscreen needs a few minutes to ~vanish~ and after that the cast isn’t much noticeable. When i apply it a good 20 min. before stepping out the door, i feel comfortable wearing it. The shininess also comes down a little (but i haven’t used it in the middle of the summer yet, so idk about that).

Thank you so incredibly much. I LOVE your sunscreen videos!!
I tried several sunscreens … I have sensitive , reactive and dry skin. My favourite right now is Ultra Viollette’s mineral sunscreen ’ lean screen’. It has a tint, and is supposed to be mattifying but I haven’t found that ( everyone’s skin is different, and reacts differently to different products etc and I have heard that people with oily skin love it too for that reason).
It’s spf 50+ UVA + UVB ( broad spectrum) …. It’s Australian ( like me!), so the spf really is amazing & trustworthy ( I hope that makes sense! UVA is at least 1/3 of the UVB, at least). It’s fragrance free and has minimal ingredients. I have sensitive eyes too and haven’t really had any trouble with stinging.
. I have to say it was strange when I first started using it, my skin became incredibly dry after a few days and then was fine. Not entirely sure if it was the sunscreen or something else. I have a feeling though my skin was just reacting (?) adjusting (?) to a new/different product. Glad I stuck with it one more day! Wouldn’t normally do that! Oh and it has a fantastic blurring effect 😊
