Very helpful! The manual of my 8bitdo only puts MacOS and had been searching for a way to make my iPhone recognize it. The switch control in accessibility was the key! Thank you so much!
I followed this tutorial, but my 8BitDo Controller only works when i hit the left or right shoulder keys. Any idea/advice for how to fix this? I have the other keys set to do action items
I set all the Keys to OFF, then one by one set them to what I wanted. I have the 8bitdo2 and my XYAB were all jumbled up compared to what the anki app said, so I tested each one out until I got the keys I wanted to do the thing I wanted. Works now :)
@@germanaboytes649 The arrows have no workable function for me on the ipad anki. The a, x, b, y are out of order. I set "A" in ipad gamepad settings to Hard which is actually B on the controller. So setting "B" on Ipad as show answer, answer good is actually A on the controller as show answer/ answer good. "X" on Ipad gamepad as "again" is actually Y on the controller as "again". "Y" on Ipad gamepad as show answer, answer good is actually X on the controller. The L and R on the controller are correct so whatever you input in anki settings should be correct - I did L = Undo and R = Night Mode. Hope this helps lol. Probably is easier to set everything to off and see for yourself + set things how you like.
All of my buttons work in Anki exept for the right and left arrow button. I would like to also use those but it seems like Anki doesn’t even recognise those buttons because if i press them in the gamepad setup menu, if doesn’t say what i pressed.
Hi! Thanks for your video! I have the 8BitDo control + am connecting it to an iphone. I went through this as well as connecting via accessibility switch path and set up the settings within anki review, but it's still not working when i try it on cards. If I open up notes and press the buttons, it has the corresponding hji etc letters. Any other ways I can trouble shoot?
Hello, is it not possible to change the default button settings mapped with ipad, Cannot we have other buttons to map with the ipad gamepad . Because i have mapped different buttons with MacBook, and would like to have the Same settings with my ipad as well.
On my iPad, the 8BitDo keys X, A, B, Y are mapped correctly in the gamepad setting but when I actually do Anki, clicking on the buttons does the same thing, regardless of the button, even though in my Anki settings, I have the correct settings for X, A, B, Y to again, hard, good, easy.
I don't see that version of the ANKI app on my ipad and the one I have is an orange icon it doesn't have these settings. How do I know which ANKI to use?
When I enable switch controller it starts doing the blue scanning boxes. It doesn’t appear on your screen, how did you disable the scanning? It’s very distracting 😢
I wish you shown how to set up different customized keys for different controllers in Anki . I dont understand why nobody stress on setups of Anki on ipad . We beginners struggle a lot for setting all up
Not sure actually... if you could get keyboard shortcuts working on uworld it could work. I've looked into it but I had no luck. If you figure it out LMK
does it also work with the 8bitDozero2 (the small one)? I have that controller and im about to buy anki but i dont want to buy it if it doesnt work with the controller i have
For me, selecting ‘8BitDoZero2’ form accessibility made only one button work (I think the bottom arrow). Selecting ‘wireless controlled’ instead (after 2-3 attempts of trying to pair it) did it and all of the buttons were working.

My controller is connected but none of the buttons work on anki even after I programmed it to what I want! Any advice on how to fix this?
me too!!
Me too, did you find a fix?
me too :(
my controller isn't working according to how i change it in the app. it only keeps it to where two of the keys work :(

I would try setting those action items to the shoulder buttons and see if that fixes it... super weird issue
Hey! Did you get this figured out? I ‘m having the same problem.

its possible to map buttons in windows??
Yes! There is a programme called joytokey which is free to download and has an amazing level of customisation.
Does this work for iPad also?
Yep
Do you also have to download an extreme ion? For example the joy on app or something like that for iPad?
Thank u
welcome
Very handy. Couldn't have worked it out myself. Thanks 😁👍
No problem 👍
Super useful! kill two birds with one stone 😊
