In the U.S we have places where there is an intersection every couple of yards. Isn’t possible. As for Rurual areas, they don’t permit left turns. You get off loop around and then a light will allow you to turn.
Nobody in the US knows the rules and how to use roundabouts like they do in Europe. People here stop in the middle of it, or just don’t pay attention to the right of way rules. Also, a lot of roundabouts that are in the US are awfully designed, like having a gas station on it which is super dangerous and inefficient.
There’s videos of roundabouts being implemented into some areas in the U.S and they literally have no idea how to use them. Roundabouts are great but Americans would probably cause more accidents with them unless they get retrained on how to drive
This is also an example of why using a giant truck as a regular commuter vehicle is stupid and dangerous. If this was a car-on-car accident the impact to the Chrysler would have been much less severe.
Wow its almost as if you brought this upon yourself, these cars only stay on the pavement, why does a utility vehicle need to be so tall? Not only is it more dangerous but it's much less practical, you can achieve the same amount of bed space with a shorter vehicle
Lets consider this to be an EV. Chances are, it would explode or catch fire and the driver and more than likely, passengers wouldn't have time to get out. They would be ---------------toast.
I survived one...a Toyota truck t-boned me at an intersection and AVOIDED an INSTANT death when a semi truck with a trailer cut a red light from the left while my light was green, about to make a left turn.
I think people can make the risk of this type of accident extremely low by simply looking both ways before going through the intersection when it’s green. It’s saved me a couple times from getting t boned. I learned this working as a driver for UPS and adopted it for myself
This was a recreation of a real red light running crash that took place in Arizona. The truck ran the red light at 48 mph. The driver of the Sebring was seriously injured.
Since the video's called "Red-light-running crash test demonstration," that's what is showed. There not saying its the only way to get involved in collisions lol.
@@titan9259 Not necessarily. If you are t-boned and don't see the truck coming at you, chances are your eyes are not closed but focussed on where your vehicle will end up after impact.
The truck was at fault for the crash and put the other driver in needless danger; i suppose that shows the attitude of motorists these days. Bigger vehicle, bigger ego, bigger stupidity, bigger road toll
@@zzoinks Even if the truck ran the red light, the person in the car would suffer severe injuries. Possibly head injuries, leg, shoulder, and knee injuries, paralysis and if an elderly person, possibly would not survive. The car of course is a total.
Roundabouts aren't a silver bullet, but they can highly reduce this type of crash and, imo, they're severely under utilised in the US.

Roundabouts cost at least $3 million each.
Alot of other smaller countries use the roundabout because there aren't as much roads around like the united states

This car got five stars for driver and 3 stars for rear seat from national highway traffic safety administration in this crash test
This test was done by IIHS. And they don’t use the the star system to rate vehicles.

The trucks and SUV's get bigger and bigger every year. They pose a serious danger to other drivers.
Because of CAFE standards and the chicken tax, the bigger the vehicle you buy the lower your taxes will be.
