Wow... did that bring back memories. I was a fire fighter in the late 80's on the gulf coast in Florida. I can still remember standing up in the open cabs getting dressed while responding to calls.
Those are some serious throwback rigs. That rig at :28 you can tell from a mile away (literally) THAT's a fire truck. I remember hearing rigs like that when I was a kid and I would always go running to see them pass.
Man that driver of the old pioneer (Pioneer III?) really dropped that gear down and put the hammer down! and I so want to shake that ladder driver's hand, he knows how to clear an intersection!!!!!!!!!!! Great Vid Doc!!
My company has the same cab with a more modern walk in box. It is a 1986 Ford 3500 I think, and it starts up faster than any other vehicle I have ever been in. We are selling to a company in Vermont in a few weeks and it has years of great service to go.
the more obnoxious and ridiculous it is, the more attention it will get, the safer the response. If you see in this vid, people do not stop for responding vehicles, so we need as much help from lights and sirens as we can get! ;)
@zaffdoc Your department made a good choice with the black over red. That is how Chicago's trucks are painted. If my company went back to red, thats is what we would have as well.
hey awesome video realy great i love these trucks i´m looking out for siren sounds like them in the video wail yelp & piercing but i don´t know where i can get them can you help me?

Great Vid Doc!!
Love those classic electronic sirens - sound much better than todays
Love the older electronic sirens, the Whelen WS-224 and Federal PA-200's were awesome!
at :28 i love how the truck sounded like it wanted to accelerate relly fast lol
Those old-school Crown Victoria cop cars- irresistible!
Awesome video! I like the green light on the first truck. Just like chicago. The sirens on the squad car sound pretty weird.

I wish I couldve been a Firefighter in the late 80s and into the 90s!
Prim fire time!

that second truck sounds like a true fire truck
the driver of the ladder just floors it and so does the cop
@KosukiFire

It may be obvious to others, but what are the white sedans with the logo on the door? Are they the police or fire department?
What kind of crazy siren was on that police vehicle?
@xx6pure6evil6xx Love that detroit scream!
Shreveport doesn't buy seagrave or mack ?
@zaffdoc
What did SFD do with the old Rescues?
looks like the ladder missed the turn
1:07 ,oopps missed the turn
Cool Video Zaffdoc!
could you give me some info on the rescue truck when it was retired and what type it is?
listen to that engine roar at :28 !!
classic sirens
Hear in Canada white is the old hazmat color now they switched to red for all the trucks
whats that sound at 28
sounds like a powercall
White is the dullest color for a firetruck. If you want to be seen... Red, well... it does work.
Federal PA-200
@jazzbutterworth lime green too
@zaffdoc my company has white rigs. i like them better than red because everyone has red trucks.
Listen to those old gay sirens
