      +Ryan Olsen What is special about that apparatus? With the huge cab does it carry more manpower or is it just to be different. Awesome piece.

  • @corymccorysoniii9957
    @corymccorysoniii9957 6 лет назад +8

    I love that brush engine. Great paint job and I love the grill lights. Also, I know it's not just MN, but you all do have a lot of engines and tankers built with semi front ends (FL?). I like that. Pretty unique.

    • @RyanSOlsen
      @RyanSOlsen  6 лет назад

      Thank you! Yes, there are a lot of Commercial cabs such as Freightliner, (some) Fords, Peterbilt, and International.

    • @jaysmith1408
      @jaysmith1408 Год назад +1

      Commercial chassis apparatus are almost always several hundred thousand dollars cheaper than a custom cab. In my personal opinion (my entire department with exception of myself disagrees) there are very rarely circumstances where a custom cab is required, that being tight spaces. A commercial cab (in addition to significant cost savings) often has more spec options, engine, transmission, axles, suspension, cab, than a custom. Maintenance is often easier, especially in more rural areas (unless Massey Ferguson gets into the emergency services market). And of course those areas in dire financial straits, can remount on chassis they already have, or get donor trucks.

  • @Wruff

    Funny Enough, The Engine ended up in Western Canada at a Rosenbauer Dealer, It was used as a rental truck for a few years, and has since had the Enclosure and body, Remounted and refurbished on a 2021 Freightliner M2 106

    • @RyanSOlsen

      Is there photos of this rig anywhere?

  • @RyanSOlsen
    @RyanSOlsen  11 лет назад +2

    Correct, a 2008 Spartan Gladiator/Rosenbauer 105' Tower. Step type van is used for Equipment, Personnel Carrier etc. Behind that is our Air Boat, we've got a lot of Lakes around us! L.F.D. has served the area since 1855. Last year in 2012 we ran 65 Calls. We get a lot more of our own calls then we do Mutual Aid. Thanks for the interest!

      +Ryan Olsen I know this is over a year old but how can a department policy keep you from posting videos of them? Especially if you aren't a member of said department. I'd post away.

    • @ArmEConDoesMinecraft
      @ArmEConDoesMinecraft 7 лет назад

      grey man some departments have a no media policy for members, or have a policy asking the public to not post pictures or videos. And if you break the policy they can fire you or remove you from department

      @johnsobaski3478 4 года назад

      More for financial reasons then standards. A truck built on a Commercial chassis will save a Department tens of thousands if not a couple hundred thousand compared to a custom built one. Burnsville and St. Paul fire departments used to run units like that kenworth. Burnsville ran Peterbilt and Saint Paul ran Ford's with that similar rear cab.

  • @RyanSOlsen
    @RyanSOlsen  11 лет назад

    Well, all of the FD's in Chisago County are their own Dept. Their own Rigs, Chief's etc. etc. Most Depts have Rescue Equipment and have it on their Engine and or Rescue. Each Dept may chose to use what they want. Some Depts in our Co do "compete", LFD does not. Thanks for your interest, hope I've covered what you have asked.

    What they didn't wanna take out the last two XD lol, some unusual rigs they have there. I love the paint though. Town just across from mine used to have the yellow trucks but now they have as they put it "the professional looking fire trucks" featuring the very basic red

    • @RyanSOlsen
      @RyanSOlsen  9 лет назад

      +Boeingfan727 Nope - No need for a Tower and or Air-Boat on a grass fire. L.F.D. just had a brand new black over yellow Fire Engine built. They're switching colors.

    • @brandonh5201
      @brandonh5201 8 лет назад

      Actually yellow is a more common and more safe color cause you can see t easier they call them visibility yellow for some reason. Ours in Goreville Illinois are yellow. We have a yellow engine, yellow tanker, white brush and two rescue units one is a 1980 box ambulance that's white with a green stripe (which is now a backup/secondary) and one is a 1990ford rescue pickup with a top on it and its yellow as well with red reflective stripes on the back.

    Hey Ryan A serious question here not bustin balls. Why does evey department need an Engine and a Rescue? Why cant individual departments specialize and act like "companies"? Is it a situation where mutual aide is very far away? Or is it a situation where you compete with your neighbors? Be safe!!

  • @eddieknox9874
    @eddieknox9874 8 лет назад +1

    no old school siren?

  • @RyanSOlsen
    @RyanSOlsen  11 лет назад

    Well, all Dept's need an Engine and Rescue. Some choose a Rescue-Engine. Since we are Rural we need the Brush and Tanker. Some Dept's in the Co have Equipment Trucks, as they are nice for hauling well, Equipment. We are the only Dept in our area of the Co to have a Ladder. Which gets called for M/A House Fire's.

      They are. but with a voulnteer fire department it takes a little longer to get going cause the FFs aren't there so they have to leave from home or wherever there at then get to the trucks then respond and go where's a full/part time department has people at the station to just jump in the trucks.

    Nice Equipment is a yes. A waste is a definite no.

    All that nice equipment just sitting there and only 65 calls a year, what a waste.

    Seeing Lindstrom fire now with all the Black apparatus, one from Rosenbauer as well. I can say they have improved by a lot. Those Reflective green colors on Fire apparatus is probably the ugliest.

      I think the people of Lindstrom will regret having that POS Rosen more than having that beat up old Kenworth. But ya know if they'd rather buy cheap European made garbage, then they'll get what they pay for.
