Love this, especially all the Q action! Also at 7:37 I seriously thought it was a Coca-Cola delivery truck making a code 3 delivery...until they turned the corner lol. I'm pretty much a total fan of every department that sticks with the almighty Federal Q2B for their apparatus. So much more amazing than resorting to the cheaper, quieter, fake sounding electronic Q emulators that to me sound more like Ponch and Jon's motorcycle sirens on CHiPs from the '70s (IMO). Back in the day (50s - early 70s), when the majority of ambulances were built on Cadillac chassis/coach built long wheelbase passenger car based vehicles, they often-times ran Qs also until car-based ambulances were phased out in the mid 70s and most ambulances went full electronic sirens.

A few years back, we were visiting family in Cali. At some point, we went to visit the USS Iowa, and while I was on deck I saw an LAFD boat head out to an emergency. That was probably the coolest thing I got to see that trip (and the excitement I felt was a nice reprieve from the fact that we were there for a funeral).
We have lakes and rivers in my state, and folks have watercraft, however, no government agencies have watercraft*. Some FD has swift water rescue teams, and various LE agencies have choppers that can and have been used for rescue/SAR.
*Dedicated vessels, that are stationed in the water such as what one would see in coastal states. I believe that departments with swift water rescue teams have rafts that they carry on their trucks.

Yeah I see a lot of these types of videos but I don’t exactly understand what makes the vehicles rare. Like the Chevy Suburban at 0:56 for example. Yes technically since they’re outdated you could consider it “rare” and I’ve only ever seen one in the past like 5 years (besides the one my dads firefighter station has) but is that why they are so rare? Or is it because of the unit? (Like a hazmat control squad car or something you probably wouldn’t see very often) I’ve recently seen an old Dodge Charger cop car and a couple Crown Vic’s in like rural Oregon and they make me excited, but would those be considered “rare”?

My old agency still has a 1955 cadillac miller meteor ambulance in its original livery and pristine condition. They let its license lapse at one point so it's just a parade/funeral piece, but apparently there are a few left in the US that have just been consistently kept up with and grandfathered in to be legal BLS ambulances.
And a fire department I used to run with had as a backup (in 2018) a 1978 ford f350 ambulance with 20k original miles. It was just their backup 4x4 ambulance, but it was still in service when it snowed or when their regular rig was totaled, and it was an immaculate time capsule to the Carter administration.

It's really crazy when you see how many drivers don't stop directly or reduce their speed. They just drive on and the emergency services have to wait at an intersection. Back in 2001, I lived in College Park, MD. I was on my way home on the Metro; and when we stopped at the College Park station it was evident there had been a storm as the streets were wet. THEN we saw a tractor trailer fire truck with "Collapse Unit" on the side, I had no idea that kind of unit even existed. The tornado went through the courtyard of my son's elementary school; & killed 2 of the students at the college campus. My son still has PTSD from that event. The teachers had no idea what they were doing, first they took the kids into the hallway; and then they rushed them to the cafeteria when lights began to explode; but that room had tons of windows which blew out. The kids were standing in the courtyard crying their eyes out when I finally got there to pick up my son. :p

these responding videos really showcase just how friggen oblivious drivers are when they is an emergency vehicle showing up to an intersection, but the car has the green. yeah thats fine, the fire truck will JUST WAIT for your ass to not stop.

I like how all these are in NJ and mostly in Monmouth County where I live and yet I’ve never seen any single one of these vehicles responding to an emergency.

My local volunteer fire department had two rare vehicles. We made them ourselves. They were our brush fire trucks. A red Willys jeep with a water tank strapped down to it. We got rid of that one. And a poorly painted red ford truck that we converted to a diesel and bolted a light bar and a water tank to. And we are not the only department with a rigged truck.

Theres a question returns too me over and over again, when im watching these videos.. when a firetruck/police or paramedic, comes with blue/red lights and sirens on.. why dont people just let them past, or atleast stop so they can get too the scene faster? ...

Local FD i grew up had basically all Macs. Hell one was an old trash truck and could do a full u turn on a 2 lane residential road. Only thing was gearing up in the back was a bitch. You'd have to put the window down for any arm room. Still, I miss seeing those trucks around.
