There's a 7 and Ace story called 'The Ripple Effect' that I highly recommend for anyone interested in peaceful Daleks. It's a fantastic epilogue for 'Rememberance of the Daleks' and is great proof in my mind that Malorie Blackman has so much more potential than Chris Chibnal's sensitivity reader.
Personally I absolutely adore Dark Eyes, but then again I am massively susceptible to space operas and Daleks. I think Dark Eyes was what really started my passion for Big Finish, it wasn't the first I listened to, but it was the first that really clicked with me. I agree 100% with your analysis of Alex Maqueen's Master ( I know its heresy, but I think he's the best Master) and think the rest of the cast give stand out performances, especially Paul and Nicola. Who both manage to really show the emotion without making it trashy. For me, Liv Chenka is the best companion that has come out of Doctor Who, I understand why many don't agree, but I love the way she's a lot less loud than many other companions, and I think having older companions always works well. And to be honest I love the fact that unlike the TV show recently, it has managed to pull off a very complicated and intricate plot, and tie it together well and conclude it in a very final way that leaves no gaping plot holes or loose threads. But hey I'm always going to say that, as I just love Dark Eyes so much....
Haven't seen more than two Roger Delgado Master stories. Very impressed by his understated menace, though, especially considering how hammy most people taking on the role of the Master is. Alex MacQueen is the only other actor I'd consider truly worthy to wear the late great Delgado's crown.
Finally someone who appreciates DE2 - and Time's Horizon! I thought I was alone in this! Anyway - DE as a whole is one of my faves and I love it with a bit of a passion. More than most of Lucie's run, to be honest (as much as I like NEDA). I absolutely dig the Eminence, I am extrenely fond of Molly and Liv and Macqueen's Master is pure gold.
McQueen's Master was pure genious. Agree with every single word, though I liked Dark Eyes 1 more than 2. About 10th Doctor adventures: it's nice. Donna is perfect in each story except for the first one, but maybe it's just me. The stories aren't bad. Maybe the first one is the weakest but I suggest you to listen to the box-set
13:28 When: 'He Who Moans,' said the word: 'Idiot,' I was in the middle of talkin about my cat, claiming he was: 'Giving Himself A Bath,' and immediately, in my mind, the sentence: 'You, Take That Back,' popped into my head. And the resulting phrase, I spoke aloud, was: 'Smudge is giving himself a Back!' - True Story.
I personally think Matt Fitton is the most 'good' writer Big Finish has. He always delivers good episodes, but never anything great and he's definitely a very safe choice in that regard, which I think is why they use him so much
aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand we're back, sorry bout that everybody anyway while I'm here: thoughts on the 10th dr adventures would be appreciated. I'm still umming and ahhing about getting it. Its got Donna though so I'm weighing on the getting it side at the moment
For the most part it was fantastic to see David Tennant and Catherine Tate back together again because there were the best pairing in the Modern Who series. Despite not being a fan of ten. But out of the 3. Technophobia was the best one because I did like the twists that they did pull in the story. The other ones kinda range on the, "Meh it's just okay." But nevertheless I do recommend it. Especially if anyone is a newcomer to the Big Finish Series.
I'd say it's worth it. Donna made the Tenth Doctor more than watchable for me and actually made the show fun. That carries over to audio, I think. It helps that I like Matt Fitton and James Goss as writers, so I'm probably a bit biased. The RTD-isms are also toned down a lot, but not so much that it's not recognizable - I'd call it almost "corrected." In all, I wouldn't call it my favorite, but I'm definitely very happy with my purchase.
I fucking hated Technophobia, extremely, boring, predictable and the way big finish made it out to be "clever" is really fucking annoying, it'll either go one way or the other. It's not a plot twist, it involves the tiniest bit of thinking to see what they're going for. I did however enjoy the second story, it wasn't great but I enjoyed it enough.. The final story tries to be funny WAYY too much and it gets tiresome. around 40% of it is absolute dogshit and the other 60% is pretty neat in my opinion. Overall, it's extremely mixed... didn't love it, didn't hate it (beside technophobia)
I think it's unfair to use Star Wars prequels for that analogy. You mean to tell me that they weren't creative or innovative? Awkward, stupid, yes, but you can't say they aren't creative.
My mini reviews of Dark Eyes 1 + 2 Dark Eyes 1 The Great War-Really thrown right in,dark, moody, gritty, creepy underlying threat know America accents grate Fugitives-Bit patchy but fun hearing Mollys reactions and what she thinks also hello plot Tangled Web-Some real gems of ideas could have had 2 hour full eps on both main ideas X and the Daleks- Few twists & turns but a lot of trying to wrap up what we've done so far. Dark Eyes 2 The Traitor -typical Dalek runaround yep,Liv great The White Room -great idea I love Molly but bit confused Times horizon-great idea, super creepy love Molly and Livs interaction Eyes of the Master -another great idea, fun MacQueen is great I'm starting to be annoyed when the storyline kicks in
I thought the War Doctor was either going to be the Other televised or the master brainwashed into thinking he was the Doctor and that incarnation was imprisoned in the Docs mind as punishment for pretending to be him
Man, I tried going back and listening to these again, but they're just so boring. I definitely don't think they have a lot of replay value unlike The Lucie or (bits of) The Charley era
Macqueens master should be in a televised episode
God imagined if he appeared during the Capaldi era
@@crimsondynamo615 “GET THAT FUCKIN’ CHEESE OVER THERE!”
I just can't see Alex's MacQueen's Master without thinking of him being a bum-der from Inbetweeners
For me it’s Julius Nicholson from Thick of It.
“Well here’s the news, Doctor, I will not eat the pissy biscuit!”

Has your opinion changed in any way over the past 4 years?

Great job on these reviews. I love big finish and it's nice to hear another persons thoughts.

I feel like the nostalgia you have for the Charley era people have for dark eyes
MacQueen's Master is basically Missy if she was written like Delgado's Master. Easily one of my favourites!
I really like the Dark Eyes series. Great fun. And I agree that Time's Horizon and Eyes of the Master were two of the best episodes in it.
I agree about MacQueen; to me, he is the best Master. He is THE Master.
New Subscriber keep up the Great content 👏👍

Get it so I can know to get it. o-o It needs the cynics seal of approval

My feelings are yours in this case
You can get all 4 for 80 quid in the bundle.
Say, What? That saves quite a lot! :)
Molly and 12 together would have been pretty rad
I suppose from the Doctor's pov WW 1 & 2 are the same war
I wish those Alternative Daleks from Tangled Web appear in the Tv Show.
I think it's unfair to use Star Wars prequels for that analogy. You mean to tell me that they weren't creative or innovative? Awkward, stupid, yes, but you can't say they aren't creative.
Anomaly incs revenge of the prequels
Fucking love this Stuart
Oh Yes! Love these.
I liked the Dark Eyes saga, but then again, it introduced me to big finish, soooooo......
btw, There's an £80 bundle
My mini reviews of Dark Eyes 1 + 2
Dark Eyes 1
The Great War-Really thrown right in,dark, moody, gritty, creepy underlying threat know America accents grate
Fugitives-Bit patchy but fun hearing Mollys reactions and what she thinks also hello plot
Tangled Web-Some real gems of ideas could have had 2 hour full eps on both main ideas
X and the Daleks- Few twists & turns but a lot of trying to wrap up what we've done so far.
Dark Eyes 2
The Traitor -typical Dalek runaround yep,Liv great
The White Room -great idea I love Molly but bit confused
Times horizon-great idea, super creepy love Molly and Livs interaction
Eyes of the Master -another great idea, fun MacQueen is great I'm starting to be annoyed when the storyline kicks in
This video (and a few others of yours) have been blocked in New Zealand and probably some other countries by MGM (the music maybe?)
Hey Stu what do you think of the Fourth Doctor and his era? Cheers!
Got to say I love the first Dark Eyes Box set. I made a review on my channel if anyone wants to check it out.
I loved the first Dark Eyes but have mixed feelings towards Dark Eyes 2.
I thought the War Doctor was either going to be the Other televised or the master brainwashed into thinking he was the Doctor and that incarnation was imprisoned in the Docs mind as punishment for pretending to be him
I wished that was the case.... *sigh* goddamn it
Dark eyes or Doom Coalition? Because after getting the 8th Doctor Adventures I want to start on one of them but which one?
Bit late but defo Dark Eyes lol
I can't stomach Molly so I sadly skipped all of Dark Eyes
Man, I tried going back and listening to these again, but they're just so boring. I definitely don't think they have a lot of replay value unlike The Lucie or (bits of) The Charley era
I feel Dark Eyes 1 was good but the sequels didn't need to be there. Maybe Dark Eyes 2 but not 3 and 4
