Randomly watched this movie a couple weeks ago, thinking it'd be some okay rom-dram movie, and the way it had me bawling at 3am. This movie isn't talked about enough, it's rare to have a romantic movie without a toxic or iffy couple. Definitely one of my favorites.
Despite the time travel aspect, they've managed to make this story grounded and relatable. I love how subtle and simple the movie is, yet the message was delivered profoundly. 💖💜 It's definitely one of the movies up there for me, too. Also, I've seen this film so many times, yet I'm here still sobbing with you guys 😅
this is one of my all-time favorite movies and like Rob, I always cry too. it's such a sleeper hit and I always recommend it to anyone. loved y'alls reaction.
"Somewhere In Time" was a similar sleeper hit with a somewhat similar plot. If you haven't seen that I would recommend it. Both are in my top 5. Along with another called The Age of Adaline
I loved that this movie didn’t become about the time travel. Every other movie with some big secret, the main plot point becomes the betrayal of the love interest not knowing the secret and it’s such an overused trope. I love that Mary never knew, it was never portrayed as betrayal that he didn’t tell her. The father son relationship took the front seat to the usual “drama”. That’s what makes it so special!
FINALLY- This is my favorite film, for SO many reasons. It is unearthly heartbreaking and soul shattering, but always ends with love, light and hope. ❤- Also, my best friend growing up, her name was Kat, she was run over by a drunk driver. This film just connects. Heart and soul. ❤
My favourite film! A powerful message in the simplest of movies. No other film leaves me with such a renewed view on life, which I'm so grateful to this film for. When Rob and Bryce started crying at the beach scene I literally laughed and then burst into tears myself. It gets me everytime! ❤
This is one of my favourite movies of all time, like Rob I can watch it again and again it never gets old. It teaches me to appreciate the little things in life and memories with family and friends are what matters the most. like Tim said, we are all time travelling together everyday; you wake up and you’re grown up and the years have passed you by. You have to be satisfied with your choices in life (because we only get one shot and there a certain beauty in that) and live them to the best of your ability.
Incredible film that is so underrated and shockingly unknown to many. This is one of the first YT reactions to this gem of a film. Thank you for giving it the exposure it truly deserves. You can’t get through this film and not get choked up.
One of my favourite films of all time. I love that this film has time travel in it, but that isn't the focus of the story. It just happens to feature time travel. The core of this film is familial love, father-son relationships, romance, love, living life to the fullest as much as you can on a daily basis, paying attention to the little, ordinary, extraordinary mometns of life. Fun little bit of trivia - when Tim is a child at the end with his dad, that child (played by Charlie Curtis) is the real-life son of Richard Curtis, the director of the film.
This might be my favourite comfort movie ever. It makes me feel so many emotions and I think, I've never been able to watch it without crying. There certainly is drama, yet it is so subtle and never feels overplayed. It makes me feel right at home.
The guy playing the main part, Domhal Gleason, played Bill Weasley in the Harry Potter movies. He is also the real life son of the guy who played Mad Eye in HP, Brenden Gleason.
And Bill Nighy, the guy playing the father, was also in the Harry Potter movies, playing Rufus Scrimgeour (the Minister for Magic in Deathly Hallows Part 1), coincidentally in the same film that Domhnall Gleeson first appeared as Bill Weasley.
I randomly watched this movie late one night on Netflix. I cried at a movie i thought would be a movie i’d see once and forget. It’s now one of my favorite movies ever.
Omg can we get the Time Travellers Wife next?? 😂😂😂 I LOVE this movie and the cast is great but Dom and Bill are just wonderful. Their father son relationship is just 🤌🏻 glad y’all have watched this one! ❤
Oof. I remember watching this for the first time and crying my eyes out over it. I return to watch it every year or so. The way it is told, the sentiments behind it, to me it is truly a beautiful film and one that I think will always linger in the back of my mind. The moment that stuck with me the most is when he is saying goodbye to his father, and they both whisper "My son." "My dad." Because I do the same thing with my mom. I had never heard anybody else do that before. 😭🥺❤
I'M SO GLAD SOMEBODY FINALLY REACTED TO THIS MOVIE!!!!!! it's one of my favourites. Absolutely adore this film. Definitely so much more than just a romcom. I'm so glad y'all liked it.
I remember watching this when I was 12 years old and crying and just feeling so much from this movie. It lingered with me for months and was the first romantic type of movie I can remember crying super hard to. So good and thank you for watching this!
UGH I LOVE THIS MOVIE. watched it a few months ago and it became my favorite romance movie easily. it broke me and healed me. so happy you guys reacted to it!!!
As the oldest daughter, total daddy's girl who lost my dad to cancer when I was 15, I would give anything to go back and relive one day with him. What a sweet movie!
This is such an underrated movie, as a grown ass man I can honestly say this is a lovely movie. The underlining father son relationship was beautifully done.
So good! You can totally tell it’s written & directed by the same guy who did Love Actually! The humor, along with a heartwarming overarching message ❤
I saw this movie on a first date. Suffice to say, we were both a weepy mess at the end. The relationship didn't last in the long run (differing life goals) but it told me a lot when we could both allow ourselves to cry at this beautiful movie.
One of my absolute favourites! If you don't fall in love with Rachel McAdams in the fist 20 minutes, there's actually something wrong with you imo. The last walt on the beach gets me sobbing every time...
I'm so glad you guys did this one, SUCH a beautiful movie that no one has ever seen. Also one of my favourites for sure, such a great cast and a beautiful story. We need to spread the word about the beauty of this movie!!!
I absolutely loved this watchalong with all of you, no surprise there considering it's a beautiful gem. Written and directed by Richard Curtis, the man has made a lifetime career of coming out with some beautiful 'rom' flicks. You've already seen his Love Actually, but you really should try his other comedies, Four Weddings & A Funeral, as well as Notting Hill. Another Nighy flick he made was The Girl In The Cafe, a lot more on the drama side, with Kelly Macdonald. p.s. Rachel is also great in The Time Traveller's Wife.
One of my absolute favourite movies ever. Beautiful message, very relatable relationships and by the end it made me think on how I see life for a long time after❤️
I screamed when I saw you guys were watching this. This is my favorite movie. I hope lots more people decide to watch this. I always watch it when I need comfort.
You guys might also like a movie very similar to this called "Somewhere in Time" from 1980. The plot has some similarities and the ending is nearly as powerful. It also has a similar quirky lead character with Christopher Reeve playing him. It ranks up there with About Time as two of my favorites.
I watched this movie at an early screening after going to a very small Head and the Heart concert in a record store on a rainy day. I always say that may have been the perfect day. I went to go watch this movie 2 more times in theatres after it's official release.
The first time I watched this film I was SOBBINGGG and SNIFFLING like someone close to me had passed away. Genuinely such a beautiful film and it always tugs at my heart.
The conceit of “About Time” serves to express and explore masculine-romantic wish fulfilment. As a woman elsewhere wrote about is, this leaves you happy, and want to happier! The rarest gem of a film.
I love this movie so much! I highly recommend watching “I origins”! I’ve watched both movies around the same time and they ended up being my favorites movies ever
I hated that Tim’s dad passed away, he was the best! and the fact that he could still go back in time and see him but then had to make the choice of seeing him or having another baby broke my heart! 🥺💔 I would of wanted him to tell Mary and have him continue to see him for as long as possible! 🥲🥰
I like that Bryce pointed out the somewhat creepiness of him redoing the sex scenes over and over. I absolutely adore this movie but I think that part couldve been left out.
I never experienced any loss when I first seen this movie so the movie wasn’t as hard but watching after losing both my great grandparents and what’s happened since they passed. I wish I could go back and ask them question or tell them what was going on. I know they would be proud of me and super upset with the rest of the family lol
If you guys love Rachel McAdams you guys should check out The Time Travelers Wife. The movie not the series. Originally a book, the story is intriguing and romantic. The series was just lacking something. Mostly I didn't find the leads to have the same chemistry Rachel and Eric Bana had. You guys will enjoy it.

Sameeee. A friend recommended this movie to me and I watched it thinking it was a rom-com, but it broke me so bad
I fell into the same trap as you 😂 went in thinking it would be a random rom-com, ended up bawling my eyes out

"For me, it was always gonna be about love" Love for Mary, love for his friend, love for Kit Kat, and love for his father ❤

Rachel McAdams really has a thing for time travellers…
What can you say
😂😂😂

I cried for an embarrassing amount of time with the father-son relationship at the end. Beautiful movie
The wedding scene in this movie is my favourite wedding scenes of all time. It's absolutely beautiful and just so funny and awesome ❤
Incredible film that is so underrated and shockingly unknown to many. This is one of the first YT reactions to this gem of a film. Thank you for giving it the exposure it truly deserves. You can’t get through this film and not get choked up.

Such a good movie surprised there are so few reactions to it.
