Couple that with the poor quality and just general poverty in the education sector, and that's what you get. I have to get into top colleges to get into research or else I’ll end up being a lecturer. Even if I get into research, I will face alot of troubles because our country does not have even the most basic but important equipments required to carry the research. Both for money, achievement and politics in research institute/university. Of course the other thing is funding. As an ex-student of a premium research institute, I can tell you that our educationist are egoist. Some of them cannot bear the shear politics of the university/research institute. Many wanted to live abroad and earn in dollar/pound/euro. It is also noted that most of the premium journal like Nature, Science etc are all Western Centrist. They have a huge bias for Western (Japanese included) researchers, it is very easy publish a paper in Nature if that was written by a premium institute from Europe or America. Same goes with the international prestigious awards. Lastly, because of funding. We need more funding for research, but that depends on the Economy. But again, we need our institutes more professional and capitalist. American universities use the capitalist model of research. There is a huge pressure on publishing papers on the professors. If they cannot meet enough they will be sacked. If this model is applied in Indian university, there will be more funding from both university and private companies. I please keep you eyes open of the leftist propaganda. Like the professors cannot do research as they wish, is a total bullshit. Many of them in institute, I have seen as idle in spite of having funding.
I am getting my PhD in the US now but I have completed my bachelor's and Master's from India. When I got my full scholarship offer from a US university, one of my father's friends (who was a professor at Rutgers university in the US but now has returned to India) told my parents, "If you love your son, advise him to stay in the US. There is no respect or tolerance for brilliant scholars in India. It's a country that runs on "Hard work, not Harvard" or "Jugaad is better than actual expertise" type mindset. No one appreciates merit here. Returning to India is the biggest regret of my life". And having lived, researched and taught here in the US for 4 years now, I fully agree with him. I wholeheartedly want to now apply for jobs as a professor here at some university after graduating. Studying and teaching in the US makes you truly happy from within. It helps you find meaning and purpose in what you do and how you live your life. India can never ever offer that level of professional satisfaction, happiness or level of respect.

In our country degrees are just suffixes, you don't get much knowledge in the college lectures. Professors are more adamant on making students attend 100 percent lectures rather than focusing on their teaching skills. There is little to no environment which promotes research in the country. I want to write research papers but I am only stuck in the assignments which require no thinking and just require copy pasting stuff from here and there. Mr. Mangal sir, my father is a chemistry researcher and professor in US. Your point about the lack of funding and the lack of capability is very true. There is not equipment to do research like in US. When he was doing PhD, he had to ask someone to operate machines and do assays for him, even when he could learn to use equipment himself. The machines were scarce and there was no one there to fix them. If he wanted to run large experiments, he never got permission. And when permission isn’t received, research doesn’t occur, which is why drug research in India dramatically declined over the last 20 years. What the comments say about teaching is also true. He says that PhD students in India today write bogus thesis and still get degree, and don’t even have skills to succeed in field. He says that Indian PhD students are less skilled in research than US 3rd year BSc students. Even after postdoctoral studies, these students are far inferior to students with no PostDoc in the West.

Truth is we live in a society where parents wants their child to be taught by a best teacher but neither students wants to be teacher nor parents supports their child to be teacher
I have a friend attending Ashoka and from his point of view, it is actually comparable to foreign universities. The curriculum is way better than what outdated garbage we study at engineering colleges
True. But this incident has shown that even Ashoka is not free from the evils of Indian higher education completely.
@Youth India Maybe we can create something on our own or get a job ourselves with that world class education.
Ashoka is liberal arts college, how can you compare that to engineering colleges ? Plus the fees is atleast 10 times of the norm
@@massive_d they do offer engineering courses as well don't they?
And as far as I know they offer financial aid. You might want to double check that as I am not sure
@Youth India That isn't the point of innovation or research is it? The point is for you to get world class education that will propel you to create placements by yourself. Have you missed the entire point of the video lmao?
Most of the professors whom you have given as examples became professors AFTER they left India.
And also not just professors, many engineers also leaves India after graduation. The CEOs and many engineers in senior positions of large tech companies in USA are also Indians.
Best example CEO of pepsi and Google

My School....had extremely, absolutely epic teachers!! When we were in class 8, Physics teacher, shows up to demonstrate cosmic rays, and radio communication systems. If ny one asked about the syllabus, he would say, "to hell with your puny books. This is science, it cannot be bound, has no language"...a year goes by, cheaper and very young people are brought in as faculty, who knew nothing but the book and the syllabus, and those teachers that, even after retirement were in this school, teaching us...had daily conflicts with them. They must've thought to themselves, "I've had a successful career, complete life, why will I do this?"....literally, within 6 months, all of them left. And now there are teachers that google the answers of our queries, and answer the next day.... Indian Education system is done for! Its the individual's credit always!!
In our college...
College passouts are teaching us lol. They don't even have a teachers training like in goverment colleges. They hire these people for 10,000 rupees and they teach us.

By scoring good I am not just talkng about marks, they are extremely brilliant and has a good hold over the subject..
Thanks brother for touching this most common and underrated topic...all the best minds leave india...even a child can tell why
Thanks for the excellent content 👍
I agree with the points about education budget, lack of private university, lack of funding for reasearch.
This is the reason youtube tutorials and platforms like udemy coursera etc gained traction
One thing is that people when they are here..their talents aren't recognized but when they go out, and grind make it on their own.. and get successful.. Indians start claiming them as if they always believed in them, look the CEO of google Microsoft is indian yada yada.. but this is like partners in profit. Like you didn't give them that platform to grow they had to grow on their own. Hate it when ppl bring that into an argument.
Agreed,
when the student is not doing well here : "bekar ha Kisi kaam Ka Nahi h jaldi se degree Puri Kar, Shaadi Kara denge".
When he becomes successful in foreign countries : "oh he is Indian, you know what I taught him when he was in school"
Selfish af :/

Lack of funding in research, low pay-scale, less number of PhD seats are forcing students also to leave India and pursue their studies abroad. I, myself, is an example of it. Thanks for the video #MohakMangal #Sochbymohakmangal. Even students doing PhD in India are not happy with their stipend irregularities. For example, CSIR-Net qualified students are given their stipends in three-five months delay, as a result, they face difficulties in managing their basic living costs.
Great work as always. Everything in India has got worse after 2014. From ginger rank to freedom to this.
Whatever may be the field of work we are doing , when you are trying to improve your life and putting in the work but you are moving no where it really sucks . And you look around and you see country itself going no where with the thought process and attitude we have, it really pushes you to edge . Finally When you see you can have a way better quality life and work life in other countries you want to go for it.
Than why our professor leve country?? what's wrong with them
From an Indian settled in Canada
After always wanting to settle back in India these are the reasons that have made it unimaginable for many like me to settle in India and serve our mother land.

Only 2 of my undergrad classmates went back to India and joined IITs. Most of them are working outside India. It isn't that they don't want to go back. It is easy for them to find a position in other countries than in Indian academic/research institute due to crazy Indian politics during recruitment. After doing PhD and few years postdoc with publications in top tier journals, you not qualified to get a job in India because they want to hire someone backed by their director and senior professors.
The time is right for talented Indians to expand worldwide, striving for 30% population and 20-30% governance representation globally.
As a media student I just to say,we have to make an educated legislative system and we should be aware about for whom we are voting. Every problem has a root , We as a rational people should cut that.
I just saw an article about how the Himachal Pradesh teachers aren't allowed to criticise the government whilst teaching...
The Academic Freedom of this country is in negative 📉

At the end of the day, these academicians need a good life and a good salary, in the early decades of independence in our country , that just wasn't there, so they left. Now things are better for sure, but a long way to go, hopefully our bright minds stay here and realise the full potential of country.
The most important thing is the freedom to do what they want in their subject. A person who has done a PhD in a subject CANNOT be directed by someone in the ministry who has no background in the subject whatsoever.
Science is still now fine(not for long though) but social science (like econ and pol sci) has always been strangled in India. No doubt economist leave. That's the economically and politically right thing to do XD.
At the end of the day parties which prey on the fears of people (Congress(fear of poverty), BJP(Hindu khatrein mein hai)) can never support education. That's an economic equilibrium. Academia can only thrive in a liberal society
yes bhai. i am a 16 year old student, when all students of my age don't know what to do, or get in the herd of pre-defined paths for good jobs, i want to be an astrophysicist....
its my childhood dream, as i only think about the universe, as it is the supreme thing, the actual reality....
but but.... also i want the credit to go with my country India, and not some other country (note: i think some might think that why work in india when universe can be studied anywhere, for that country doesn't matter, but for me it also matters ! )
i want to lead a good life in India with my family
but research and salaries are not good, this demotivates me for the fact that ----> why should i study for 10-12 years and get phd etc. and still get paid less with lesser opportunities, when studying nicely now and that too for just 4-5 years can get me a high paid job? this bothers me.
now some might say do whatever you want to do dont see all this and blah blah.... well what will i do then, sit at home with phd in hand that too in ASTRONOMY !!! wtf :(
i want to earn nicely, and lead a good life amongst my countrymen, and i want all my tax money to go to India, i want to really see India as a true superpower, not the SO CALLED SUPERPOWER WITH HINDUTVA GOONS :\

Our education focuses on lessening the burden on students, but increasing the burden on teachers, with their exploitation. Teachers are forced to go to schools and to take online classes from there, expected to do all the accounts and management work themselves with literally half the pay they were getting. The conditions of the teachers are not good, especially the primary school teachers.
Lessening the burden on students... Bro u serious get into any engineering clg and students will tell u
Our professors treat us like literal garbage for no reason
One of my professor threw someone's journal only because he drew the diagram on the second page and not on the left hand side of the first
He literally had to redraw tht whole bs within 10 mins to get some stupid marks
Faculties say themselves tht they want their lives to be easier so it is expected from students to suffer by doing bs assignments which r copy pasted
These assignments (weekly) for 5 theory subject and 5 practical makes 10 assignment/practical submission per week
Which makes no sense faculties already know the content of it is copy pasted so they don't even bother looking into it
There r few exceptions but the odds of such professors who genuinely do their work and teach with passion r rly hard to find
i Think people in comment section have taken his message in a wrong way
he is spreading awareness to make the place a better place , not encouraging to leave the place
many people who pursue research that is Bsc Msc leave india and pursue higher studies from abroad.
