  • The new Fender American Ultra Series represents Fender's most advanced series of guitars and basses to date. Built for discerning player who demands precision, performance and tone, the American Ultra Series focuses on modern refinements while still staying true to the original Fender formula. That formula, established by Leo Fender, has always been to provide musicians with the very best tools for their craft.
The New Fender American Ultra Telecaster is, as one would expect, a huge hit and selling out nationwide. The Texas Tea color seems to be a new favorite and why wouldn't it be. The metallic finishes on these new guitars provide a depth of color not often seen on electric guitars. With the new neck profiles, rolled edges, neck heel, color and new pickups there is a lot to like in the new Fender American Ultra Series Telecaster. In this episode we did into the specifics of the guitar, debate which tea from Bill Miller's BBQ it most closely resembles and engage in some impromptu guitar theory based punk rock lyrics. Watch through to the end.

Beautiful playing. And I'm so glad it wasn't heavily overdriven beacuse you can do that with every guitar and it muddies the true sound of the instrument. So thank you for doing this video exactly as you did it.

I’m very typically a tradionalist with guitars, for me I love a non contoured nitro finished Tele with brass saddles etc. That being said, I can’t stop looking at this ultra, it sounds and looks outstanding. A serious contender.

I recently bought that same guitar. WOW what an awesome gem! The color varies. Indoor lighting is a deep bronzish color (per the video images), and outdoor sunlight it turns a deep olive green! I wish I could add a pic of the outdoor direct sunlight color. Amazing guitar and great purchase. PLUS...it comes with an awesome hardshell case that Fender lists for $199. Happy camper here!

I've always been a Gibson player, but I picked up an Ultra Tele and it blew me away. I've played most of the Fender models that are released and these bad boys are something from a different level. Whether the planets were lined up just right or whatever, the Tele is something else and I picked up a strat not long ago and it's nice too but I don't think quite as good as the Tele.

  • @HeyLiem

Cooper's left hand is getting cut out of the picture when he is demoing, please let us watch him play the entire neck! I'm looking at what you guys are demoing for these ultra fenders, quite interesting, I love noiseless pickups but I also wonder how they would compare to fat 50s pick ups or something similar from fender lately? On these ultras, especially on the Strats, I just don't hear the pronounced spank of the neck pick up as strongly as on previous strats. Maybe demo playing something that sounds similar to Stevie Ray Vaughan playing Lenny?

To me, the most important thing is that it comes with medium jumbo frets as all the american pro II come with narrow tall frets which I hate. I just bought one of these. I definitely didn't need another telecaster but this sexy body and color was calling to me and I couldn't resist. I already have an American performer and had an American professional II. The ultra looks and feels hands down better. And it sounds fantastic...is flawless... but if I'm behind honest with myself and not being overcome with the beauty of this versus my performer I would have to honestly say that the performer sounds slightly better. Maybe it's the bigger body and neck on the performer or the pickups that make the difference... I'm not sure. Based on this I should sell my ultra because it's so much more expensive and the performer sounds better... but I must be becoming like a chick lol and going for looks over anything else because I can't give up the ultra and might sell my performer for this simple reason lol. Again the Ulta is killer too... and has some cool features... but once you start playing a performer and hear the sound you forget about the guitar looks... though the performer is good looking too... but not quite as sexy.

I picked mine up yesterday and I have to say… I’m not happy with it and will be returning it immediately. It’s a beautiful guitar, but the tone just isn’t as true to the Tele as my previous Pro 2 model was… It sounds like a Tele that had its balls cut off, the Low-T male version LoL. I’m probably going back to the Pro 2, or perhaps the Vintage 1963 reissue. I find the neck on the Ultra to be too thin. Also, the metal pick-guard is like nails on a chalkboard when you scratch it the right way. It’s a hard pass for me… I get why some people may like it, but I’m very underwhelmed. The guitar doesn’t make me feel good when I play it. I miss my Pro 2! 😭

01/09/2020: Nice review for a very nice UltraTelecaster guitar with contoured heal and belly-cut, and other cool features. However, I think the new Noiseless Pickups are thin and tinny sounding. The Fender S-4 pickups were better. Also, Fender missed one feature that would inticed me to buy this guitar at $1,888.99. They needed to add a sloping contour for the comfort of the right arm area as on Stratocasters. Telecasters are too box-like with sharp body squared-off edges, and not comfortable to play. Change that feature in 2020 and it would be perfect!
