Thanks much for this video! I was able to replace my radiator fans today in about 40 minutes with no problem at all! This helped save me about 700$ in labor costs!
I finished this repair on my 2004 Jetta today using the radiator fan assembly panel from 1A Auto Parts. This video helped me out immensely!! Thank you. It is a tricky and somewhat frustrating fix because the panel wants to get caught up on various hoses and things, and there's a narrow clearance to get it in and out, but I eventually was successful. I saved a lot of money doing this repair myself. Thanks Again!!!

The procedure for 2009 Passat Komfort was very similar with this video. Four T30 screws, one electrical connector and unload from lower side. Thanks 1A auto, the fan was delivered next day during daytime with standard shipping and I saved a day to do something else! My Passat was overheating in stop and go traffic. Even then only the smaller fan was spinning and not the larger one. Spinning the larger fan by hand temporarily started the fan, but soon it stopped. That told me that the brush of the motor was bad. I think the quickest test is to turn on the engine and A/C. If only one of the cooling fans is spinning, your fan assy needs to be replaced.
2:37 not identical fans. Large fan on bottom seems to operate in counterclockwise motion because of the orientation vs that of the top. Does this effect the cooling system?
Thank you sooooo much. I need to get that done on my Jetta and Firestone is talking about ... $449 for the part and $353 for labor but that part is $134 on this website and I can easily put that on my damn self... Thank you #1aauto
i am planning on doing this my self? on my 2013 PAssat S auto trans. would i be able to remove the assembly using car jack? is there enough space for it to come out and put int the new one? please advise. thanks
Thank you so much for this video, I almost got the fan out but it seems there is not enough room to drop it out of the bottom. The hose on the right side is in the way and it doesn't seem to be flexible at all. Also, the plastic piece where the skid plate clips into seems to be longer than it looks in the video. Is there anything else I can move out of the way?
is there any tutorial with you guys on how to tell if radiator fan need to be replaced or how to look for any electrical fault first? looks really easy! great video thanks!
On my 2009 jetta 2.5 only the smaller fan is working right now, the larger one stays off even if the AC is on. Do I need to replace both of then now or just one? What could be causing the larger fan not to work?
Do you guys have a video how to replace the oil filter housing on the same jetta 2.5? I was searching but I couldn’t find any video how is done the replacement on that part! Thanks

Question , is it possible for the cooling fan to brake on its own , I went to a shop to do a oil change , as I'm waiting for 20 minutes the guy comes in and says hey your cooling fan is broken 😳 ! I'm like huh what , he shows me and it looked as if he had just broken it himself because I had no issues or never heard any sounds of it ever breaking ?
Thank you for your video, this helped me confidently replaced the fan assembly on my 2008 Jetta GLI. The screw behind the AC line (top passenger side) was a pain to get to. I had to use a multi-joint or wobble extension adapter for my ratchet.
