- This is how to replace a sash wooden window spring.
This was a:
Whitco 7.25 - 10kg Window Spiral Balance 480 - With Standard Foot Attached
sash window spring from Bunnings however there are other types ypu can buy online or from your local hardware store.
I have to replace some sash springs for someone and wasn't too sure how they worked or functioned. This video pretty much eased my mind as what to expect and do so for that a like is in order. Cheers and the video is fine and the music is ok too. Good on ya:-)
Thank mate pretty much my first how to video and it was like 30-35°C I was sweating bullets haha only thing I ran into trouble with was the new one was shorter and popped out of its holder clicks back together so no issues. Hardest bit was removing the old brass flat heads full of paint. Good luck

Hello, great info, nice detail, the only thing is, the camera angle you had when removing the old screw was the best and would have given us a better picture of what to do. Also, music distracts from commentary, when filming last bit, camera should be underneath. All comments as I am wanting to do this for my window and I am working on your description but cannot see how to do it right. Thanks for making it though.

this is exactly what I'm working on at the moment, including the roller blinds on the exterior. I have some wood decay at the bottom corners where the screws hold the spring. I can't figure out how to remove the beading, on all 4 sides as yours, to access/ remove sash for repair. Is this because I'm supposed to work from the outside not inside of house? Can you advise?
I have 1 on the other side of my house that has rotted out, talking to a builder/chippy recommends getting a whole replacement frame from a second hand store where they have saved some window frames etc. Regarding removing it i would look for the nails maybe a magnet would help locate them. Then juat rip the beading off you'll need to make new beading to replace it anyway. Good luck let me know how you go ill make a video when I repair my window.

Are you turning the bottom of the spring anticlockwise to tighten the spring?
My window which seems to be the same as yours makes a popping noise when I close it and will not stay closed, any suggestions?
It probably needs new springs

I also have a Window that is rotten where the screws go into the bottom of the Window holding this spring in. I will be replacing the frame ill make a video of it

I have similar sash spring windows but with 12 smaller glass panes. During winter I get a huge amount of condensation and moisture on the inside of the glass. Just wondering if repairing the springs will improve sealing of the windows?
Nah don't think that'll stop condensation the springs help keep the window open not closed.

Bunnings a hardware store took the old one in and special ordered it in.
