Yes! If you aren't wearing them, then what is the actual point?! My limit is reached when where I store my fragrances fills up. It's a timely reminder to think about what I'm reaching for and what I'm not. But ideally I would just like to be more considered in my purchases. Hi Claire! I was just thinking about how I agree with you- I don't consider my perfume a "collection" because I don't want to have anything just to have it, I want to use and enjoy them! So I think the best for term for my perfumes is "fragrance wardrobe" since just as no one calls a closet full of clothing a collection, nor is my shelf full of bottles. My fragrance wardrobe might be excessive to some, but I treat it very much like I do my clothing. Items come and go and this terminology to refer to my fragrance fits best for me 😊
Yes! I completely agree with this. They aren't decoration for me and yes, if they don't get worn and aren't sentimental or if I don't enjoy them, then they go! Definitely a wardrobe! 🥰
Hi Claire. I think I’ve mentioned before that I get together with a friend who is also into fragrance for our “sip and sniff” sessions. Sipping a glass of bubbles and trying out each other’s new samples or full bottle purchases. On an Australian fragrance Facebook page, someone has asked if there are any people in my city who would want to get together for a perfume catch up. Waiting to hear how that will progress. Perhaps there might be some fragheads in your area who would be interested in something similar and you just don’t know about each other. 🤔 Cheers 🥂😃🇦🇺

Yes! Very different! I guess if people don't buy as much, then who knows?! I noticed a trend in the last downturn towards Zara fragrances and celebrity perfumes, I guess less expensive brands appear and fill the gaps. But also those brands have very different clienteles.
Good morning Claire! I’ve stopped calling my fragrances a collection…I consider it my fragrance wardrobe. 😊 Most of my acquisitions were in 2023. I have fragrances for many occasions and my many moods. 2024 will be completely different. Now my purchases will be thoughtful and considered, and unique to my wardrobe. The only backup I have is Coco edp. I found a 100ml on Mercari with a few sprays missing for $65! I checked the batch code and it’s authentic. I don’t wear fragrance for compliments…. I wear it for me. Any random compliments are a bonus. I share fragrance with my granddaughter. When I see her next week, I have quite a few items to give her. 😂 For instance, any travel spray I have that I also own a bottle, will be hers to try. I’m retired now and don’t travel!😂😂 Great video!💛💛💛
I agree with so much of what you've said, Claire. I haven't got a RUclips channel but even I've got to admit I've got too many bottles. I've always loved perfumes and would repeat buy, but with the explosion of new releases, and finding new houses, I now have over 100. Despite my attempts to rotate, I forget about some until it pops up in a video 😂.
Hello Leah and Kathy! Nice to see you here. Wardrobe sounds much better than collection. I’m trying to be mindful about my purchases in 2024. I’ve been accumulating fragrances since 2018, so I’ve always had a collection of around 10-20 bottles. Now I’m at around 60 full bottles if I don’t count travel sprays and decants. I thought I had way more, but I did actually manage to use up quite a few back in 2022, not much in 2023 though.

Times have changed!😁 I’ve always worn perfume. Just never accumulated different types until a year ago.

I will never justify to others spending money on fragrances 😂 It’s my money that I worked for! I don’t judge anyone buying a £3k designer bag etc. I love exploring different scents & the artistry of perfume bottles. Luckily I’m quite frugal and I hunt for bargains.

To question 4: I used to own and love Encens Flamboyant by Goutal few years ago. I was told a couple of times that I smell like church or even like a requiem. I'm really disappointed with how generic perfumes have become in the last years, but I agree that the trend will continue, unfortunately. And I also don't get the idea of collecting anything - I buy perfumes to smell them on myself, and when I have more than ten bottles, I get nervous that I'm not using them all. Having said that, I would like to have access to all those beatifully smelling niche fragrances that I hear about in videos, but I just can't afford most of them, and I wouldn't justify spending huge (for me) amounts of money on sth that just disappears after a while. 😊😢
Yes I agree, it's going to get worse with designer. I think the majority of the public blindly buy what's new and being pushed by sales assistants without much thought. Mass market will continue to get more generic. AI design will potentially make this worse as it will also factor in low cost much more, even in initial design. I agree, I don't collect, I want to use my fragrances and I want a smaller collection because of that. I think with a lot of niche I feel massively disappointed for the price point, so much so that I still rarely buy niche fragrances. This is especially true with brands often pushed by influencers. However indie is where it's at for me so far with sampling! So much invention to find there! And in general, it's cheaper, but it's harder to find those fragrances and to get started with which brands to try. It's not easy at all to find the gems. Thanks for watching 🥰

Yes to so many of your responses. "Collection" is one of those words that doesn't quite apply to mine either. I've often wondered how someone with hundreds of bottles can remember them or find any of them special. I also know how much my outlook shifts depending on what is happening around me. We recently lost a family pet and I had a hard time wearing fragrance at first yet certain scents can lift my mood. I always enjoy hearing your thoughts Claire. Yes, I think with some channels, fragrances are effectively commodities, that need to be bought/received as PR, talked about in a certain number of videos and resold at the optimum moment with little use. I bet it's quite an art form if you are a channel that talks about new releases because that gets expensive quickly and needs high views and quick resales to make that viable. I agree, if I am very down, I tend to avoid fragrance. Loss of a pet is much more serious than many people realise. It takes a long time to process and move through. And yes, super awkward discussing "cuddling time" 🤣 thanks for watching 🥰

I am not a perfume collector, I'm just a perfume lover. I just wear a perfume, go through a bottle and buy another one. I rarely buy the same perfume twice but I do collect the empty fragrance bottles and sometimes the boxes they come into. The Gucci bloom one looked so nice I couldn't convince myself to throw it away. Plus I have a favourite scent profile: ambery florals. I can't afford to spend more than a 100 euros on a perfume so I stay within that limit but my family and friends think that spending on perfume is one of my many eccentricities.
Yes I think that pretty much sums up how I consume fragrances. I will buy one and rarely repurchase! I nearly always want to try something new. I also tend to keep the bottles. They are useful for videos and also they are little fragrance time capsules of taste and style. My family think I'm nuts too for spending so much money, time and effort on fragrance 🤣 they don't seem to understand that it's a hobby. 🥰

I’m getting my Nan into trying new fragrances. So far I’ve got her to like the the original Dior J’adore and she’s nearly used a whole bottle of it. And she now likes aqua di gia by Armani

I felt the same as you about TF Orchid Soleil. When I managed to find a second hand bottle, I immediately purchased it. And when, by chance, I found a second one offered some months later, I immediately bought that one too.😅

I Started a new job last October and I have been busy but my love for fragrances remained the same.i so in 20 year I think I will still have a collection.
This was fun to watch! Thank you. As someone who struggles to get through bottles, I often wonder how many sprays people are using, I definitely need to spray more 😅. I usually spray wrists because if I change my mind midday and decide something is giving me a headache, I need to be able to wash it off easily. I would like to use up as many fragrances as possible this year. When I was a student I mentioned not owning any perfumes and the following Christmas - every present was a different bottle of perfume 😅. I had maybe 5 or 6 and it was lovely, completely manageable and I was very happy with those. I want that mindset back. 🙏 Thanks for a great video xx

If something is strong then it's still only two or three sprays for me. 😊 That's a good idea with spraying on wrists! I was testing fragrances yesterday in shops and I went to Jo Malone and they offered me a hot cloth to remove the fragrance that I was wearing, it worked really well! Wow, what a Christmas 😂 I usually had one or two, then in my late twenties I started to buy more, then by my mid thirties I had about 25... It slowly crept up on me! Thanks for watching 🥰

So interestingly, for the cuddle time question, there are 2 perfumes that my husband is so attracted to: Scandal and Nina Ricci L'extase 😊. I wear them when i want attention. For back ups, I've bought only 2 so far, Scandal and Raghba. Nice take!

Yes, I don't think I'm a planner in that area of activity 🤣 but the thought of tasting someone else's fragrance or not being able to smell their skin and natural too is a no for me. 😊

Yes! I really enjoyed having a smaller collection, watching more RUclips definitely made me freer and easier with purchasing, I'm now trying to return more to just buying samples. My collection is now lower than 132 due to finishing two more bottles and also selling / swapping / gifting to friends the fragrances that I recently decided to declutter. Hopefully it will continue to head back towards 100. 🤞 Thanks for watching 🥰
@dr.claire.perfume I did also count all my full bottles, and not counting the ones I have ear marked to sell (which are stored elsewhere), I have exactly 20 bottles right now. It seems less for some reason, perhaps because I have organized them in such a way that they don't fill up my carousel.
@dr.claire.perfume I have 9 to sell, but 6 of them are 1 oz or less. And as soon as I decide to sell one, I put it aside immediately. Some of them I have had posted on Mercari for months and months, but I am sure I will sell them eventually.
The least expensive perfume I have is just about my entire collection. I use to work in publishing and worked for a luxury publisher and they would have sample sales once or twice a year to clear out the closets and I got about 7-8 bottles of designer perfume for $5 a pop. "What the hell is that" 🤣I had someone give me a positive compliment on the subway I was wearing a fragrance by Prada. Oooo the Tom Ford scent sounds good I like his fragrances. Yes I sure your partner is aware. 😊 And yes good to not let things get too cluttered. And no don't quite YT! 😙

It's more like they've gone back to how it was in 2012 to me (I am guessing also a slight nod to Cherie, but I've never tried that so I'm not sure), but made it sweeter and more based around the gentle orange citrus, but also it really makes me think of strawberries too, it's very sparkly and warm. It's not as much of a chypre as the 2012. It keeps light and sparkly throughout really.
I bet it's quite a collection! I still have a half bottle of the 2012, but since I got Coco mademoiselle, I hardly wear it. I am wondering whether to keep it or not. I will see if I reach for it this spring! ☺️

My family know, mostly because I give away bottles I don't want to keep... My nieces are thrilled about it! 😂 "Cuddling time" wouldn't affect my fragrance choice much. Great answers Claire. Personally, I love to calculate the total litres of perfume I have in my collection and divide it by the total I use in a day, month and year to give me an approximate reserve. I don't think I've ever gone below 30 years. 😂 Can't imagine what it'll be like in 20 years. Probably lots of storage considering every ingredient will be revealed to be toxic to some degree. 🤣 I think we'll eventually evolve out of chemical stimulation though. Frequency-based direct neural engagement perhaps? 😉 I'm already working on priming my pathways. 🧠

Should have made these confessions in a confession box with someone acted as a Priest. Im just kidding. But seriously Dominique Ropion and Cecille Zarokian had created delicious smelling vanilla fragrances namely Vanilla Barka, and Amouage Material. If let say if you were to hang out with only one master perfumist, which one intrigue you the most? As the nature of your work sometimes require you to wear white coat in a lab, can you see yourself changing profession working or doing internship in Grasse, or in Givaudan / Firmenich for example ? Your videos are informative, highly structured, down to earth but yet entertaining. Who knows in the future you might do an interview or make video collaboration with someone in the industry? Like Roja Dave for example. He is from Great Britain and considered one of the best nose in the world.
Ooh I tried Amouage Material this weekend, it felt like a relatively new direction for Amouage, it's very friendly and easy. For me, I think I would like to meet a few, it could be Miguel Matos, his creations always sound completely mad. Also I would like someone who could tell me a lot about ingredients, so perhaps Aaron Terrence Hughes. I'd also like to meet someone old school and with a huge back catalogue of classics like Dominique Ropion or Olivier Cresp. But also a small indie producer I admire, like Elise Walraven. I think it's hard to get into perfumery, I would love to experience it, but I just got a job as a lecturer, which is really the dream for wannabe academic scientists, so I think I will stay on the path that I'm on. If I had focused on Chemistry to begin with, I can see that I might have gone into perfumery or at least novel compound development and characterisation. I would love to interview someone actually. That's a fab idea. I should perhaps try to find someone willing. Thanks for watching and for your interesting questions. ☺️
@@dr.claire.perfume i have watched Chris the youtuber from frag-mental. Chris also have made some videos with Aaron Terrence Hughes. I find Chris’s video quite funny sometimes and he has some propensity to become overly dramatic in a funny way. He is from UK but why i had this impression that he is actually an irishman. Weird but nice. His video with Cecille Zarokian is also interesting. I learned extra more when Aaron Terrence gave explaination about certain things in his reviews. Since France is a channel away from England Im sure in many years to come you will have the opportunity to meet some of the great noses there.
Chris is an actor so that would make sense! 😂 I have a few examples of Miguel's creations but not many, I would love to try Jungle Jezebel, that one has always intrigued me! I would absolutely love to meet some perfumers ☺️

My date night and " cuddling time" fragrance is the same fragrance. ❤ My least expensive is Lovely, most expensive Alien Goddess. Weird comment: someone commented my fragrance smelled " old fashioned " while wearing Alien. ( not sure I agree!:)
Wow, that's quite a comment! I'm not sure I'd agree either, but then I think lots of people's perceptions massively different with fragrance. One of my friends tried Dates Delight and said that smelt old fashioned and like Chanel no5 🤣 to me they are not at all similar... Lovely is a fab affordable one 😊

I learned as a child i could not be a collector cause i didn't like every single type of one thing. I didn't like the "ugly" beanie babies, I wouldn't buy a CD for only one hit single, and I won't buy a fragrance simply because I don't have it yet. I have between 20-25 fragrances including 3 being my husbands and 1/3 of mine are minis. I'm the only person I know who wears fragrances on a regular basis so to me that's quite a lot.
Yes, I agree, I don't want everything, it's just not me. I am quite selective and I think that's where the joy is because your choices reflect who you are. I remember thinking before I started my RUclips channel that me having 25-30 fragrances was a lot for most people. I still think that, but RUclips also normalises the idea of a larger collection. I guess because for many people it's hard to make videos that are diverse with not many fragrances. Hello there! 😊 I’ll play along. Cheapest - Coffee Addict (Free) Expensive - Now… Eau Noire. I’ve had fragrances that are slightly more expensive but I tend to stay away from anything over £150. Amount of full bottles - Not sure. I’d say 50. Weird comments - Yes. And that was the reason as to why I swapped My Eau My (4160T)… I, too, knew it was an accurate comparison 😅 I welcome opinions (bad or good) so I wasn’t offended, but it did make me not want to wear it. Fragrances for that time - No. 😂 5:31 😮 😂😂 Sprays - Depends on my mood and the fragrance. Ranges from 3-10 Where I spray - neck, wrists, nape, décolletage and clothing Backups - no. Wasteful in my opinion. Tried doing it once or twice but it didn’t feel right Family and friends - Yes. Photos and in person. I’ll even bring fragrances over to people’s houses! 😂 Sometimes they’ll show me their collections and any new additions I don’t have a partner, nor am I interested in having one 😅 So that’s a big no. Collecting more - Maybe slowing down, more of a focus on artisanal/indie perfumery. I use every single fragrance in my collection, I also layer them together and make my own combinations. Once I feel bad about a fragrance, it leaves my collection. I like the term collection. Makes everything feel homely. Collection in 20 years time - My own fragrances. Why not???

Such a gorgeous caramel coffee scent They are! From the Privee line… I’d say Eau Noire, Tobacolor, Gris Dior, Feve Delicieuse, Cuir Cannage and Patchouli Imperial are my favourites My Eau My is an chambre (amber chypre). I didn’t really get much of the chypre vibe now that I think about it. More of a jammy, smoky rose with honey & amber I’m going to learn to make my own! I know I can do it. The ideas are there, now I need to put them into action lol

Hi Claire! I was just thinking about how I agree with you- I don't consider my perfume a "collection" because I don't want to have anything just to have it, I want to use and enjoy them! So I think the best for term for my perfumes is "fragrance wardrobe" since just as no one calls a closet full of clothing a collection, nor is my shelf full of bottles. My fragrance wardrobe might be excessive to some, but I treat it very much like I do my clothing. Items come and go and this terminology to refer to my fragrance fits best for me 😊

On an Australian fragrance Facebook page, someone has asked if there are any people in my city who would want to get together for a perfume catch up. Waiting to hear how that will progress. Yes! Very different! I guess if people don't buy as much, then who knows?! I noticed a trend in the last downturn towards Zara fragrances and celebrity perfumes, I guess less expensive brands appear and fill the gaps. But also those brands have very different clienteles.

I’ve stopped calling my fragrances a collection…I consider it my fragrance wardrobe. 😊
Most of my acquisitions were in 2023. I have fragrances for many occasions and my many moods.
2024 will be completely different. Now my purchases will be thoughtful and considered, and unique to my wardrobe.
The only backup I have is Coco edp. I found a 100ml on Mercari with a few sprays missing for $65! I checked the batch code and it’s authentic.
I don’t wear fragrance for compliments…. I wear it for me. Any random compliments are a bonus.
I share fragrance with my granddaughter. When I see her next week, I have quite a few items to give her. 😂 For instance, any travel spray I have that I also own a bottle, will be hers to try. I’m retired now and don’t travel!😂😂

I agree with so much of what you've said, Claire. I haven't got a RUclips channel but even I've got to admit I've got too many bottles. I've always loved perfumes and would repeat buy, but with the explosion of new releases, and finding new houses, I now have over 100. Despite my attempts to rotate, I forget about some until it pops up in a video 😂.
Hello Leah and Kathy! Nice to see you here. Wardrobe sounds much better than collection. I’m trying to be mindful about my purchases in 2024. I’ve been accumulating fragrances since 2018, so I’ve always had a collection of around 10-20 bottles. Now I’m at around 60 full bottles if I don’t count travel sprays and decants. I thought I had way more, but I did actually manage to use up quite a few back in 2022, not much in 2023 though.

I will never justify to others spending money on fragrances 😂 It’s my money that I worked for! I don’t judge anyone buying a £3k designer bag etc. I love exploring different scents & the artistry of perfume bottles. Luckily I’m quite frugal and I hunt for bargains.
Yes exactly, if it's your money, you spend it how you want. I agree, the bottles can be as stunning as the fragrance. And yes I'm definitely a bargain hunter too 😂
To question 4: I used to own and love Encens Flamboyant by Goutal few years ago. I was told a couple of times that I smell like church or even like a requiem. An then... the fatal shot: " You smell like my granddad's funeral!"🤯 That was my breaking point. Had to give that gem away😢

I'm really disappointed with how generic perfumes have become in the last years, but I agree that the trend will continue, unfortunately. And I also don't get the idea of collecting anything - I buy perfumes to smell them on myself, and when I have more than ten bottles, I get nervous that I'm not using them all. Having said that, I would like to have access to all those beatifully smelling niche fragrances that I hear about in videos, but I just can't afford most of them, and I wouldn't justify spending huge (for me) amounts of money on sth that just disappears after a while. 😊😢
Yes I agree, it's going to get worse with designer. I think the majority of the public blindly buy what's new and being pushed by sales assistants without much thought. Mass market will continue to get more generic. AI design will potentially make this worse as it will also factor in low cost much more, even in initial design.
I agree, I don't collect, I want to use my fragrances and I want a smaller collection because of that. I think with a lot of niche I feel massively disappointed for the price point, so much so that I still rarely buy niche fragrances. This is especially true with brands often pushed by influencers. However indie is where it's at for me so far with sampling! So much invention to find there! And in general, it's cheaper, but it's harder to find those fragrances and to get started with which brands to try. It's not easy at all to find the gems. Thanks for watching 🥰

Yes to so many of your responses. "Collection" is one of those words that doesn't quite apply to mine either. I've often wondered how someone with hundreds of bottles can remember them or find any of them special. I also know how much my outlook shifts depending on what is happening around me. We recently lost a family pet and I had a hard time wearing fragrance at first yet certain scents can lift my mood. I always enjoy hearing your thoughts Claire. Yes, I think with some channels, fragrances are effectively commodities, that need to be bought/received as PR, talked about in a certain number of videos and resold at the optimum moment with little use. I bet it's quite an art form if you are a channel that talks about new releases because that gets expensive quickly and needs high views and quick resales to make that viable.
I agree, if I am very down, I tend to avoid fragrance. Loss of a pet is much more serious than many people realise. It takes a long time to process and move through.

I am not a perfume collector, I'm just a perfume lover. I just wear a perfume, go through a bottle and buy another one. I rarely buy the same perfume twice but I do collect the empty fragrance bottles and sometimes the boxes they come into. The Gucci bloom one looked so nice I couldn't convince myself to throw it away. Plus I have a favourite scent profile: ambery florals. I can't afford to spend more than a 100 euros on a perfume so I stay within that limit but my family and friends think that spending on perfume is one of my many eccentricities.
Yes I think that pretty much sums up how I consume fragrances. I will buy one and rarely repurchase! I nearly always want to try something new. I also tend to keep the bottles. They are useful for videos and also they are little fragrance time capsules of taste and style. My family think I'm nuts too for spending so much money, time and effort on fragrance 🤣 they don't seem to understand that it's a hobby. 🥰

This was fun to watch! Thank you. As someone who struggles to get through bottles, I often wonder how many sprays people are using, I definitely need to spray more 😅.
I usually spray wrists because if I change my mind midday and decide something is giving me a headache, I need to be able to wash it off easily.
I would like to use up as many fragrances as possible this year. When I was a student I mentioned not owning any perfumes and the following Christmas - every present was a different bottle of perfume 😅. I had maybe 5 or 6 and it was lovely, completely manageable and I was very happy with those. I want that mindset back. 🙏

That's a good idea with spraying on wrists! I was testing fragrances yesterday in shops and I went to Jo Malone and they offered me a hot cloth to remove the fragrance that I was wearing, it worked really well!

So interestingly, for the cuddle time question, there are 2 perfumes that my husband is so attracted to: Scandal and Nina Ricci L'extase 😊. I wear them when i want attention. For back ups, I've bought only 2 so far, Scandal and Raghba. Nice take!

132 bottles! You could wear each one for a week and not run out of perfume for more than 2 and a half years! I can't deal with having more than 20 bottles before I get overwhelmed.
Yes! I really enjoyed having a smaller collection, watching more RUclips definitely made me freer and easier with purchasing, I'm now trying to return more to just buying samples. My collection is now lower than 132 due to finishing two more bottles and also selling / swapping / gifting to friends the fragrances that I recently decided to declutter. Hopefully it will continue to head back towards 100. 🤞 Thanks for watching 🥰
@dr.claire.perfume I did also count all my full bottles, and not counting the ones I have ear marked to sell (which are stored elsewhere), I have exactly 20 bottles right now. It seems less for some reason, perhaps because I have organized them in such a way that they don't fill up my carousel.

The least expensive perfume I have is just about my entire collection. I use to work in publishing and worked for a luxury publisher and they would have sample sales once or twice a year to clear out the closets and I got about 7-8 bottles of designer perfume for $5 a pop. "What the hell is that" 🤣I had someone give me a positive compliment on the subway I was wearing a fragrance by Prada. Oooo the Tom Ford scent sounds good I like his fragrances. Yes I sure your partner is aware. 😊 And yes good to not let things get too cluttered. And no don't quite YT! 😙

It's more like they've gone back to how it was in 2012 to me (I am guessing also a slight nod to Cherie, but I've never tried that so I'm not sure), but made it sweeter and more based around the gentle orange citrus, but also it really makes me think of strawberries too, it's very sparkly and warm. It's not as much of a chypre as the 2012. It keeps light and sparkly throughout really.

"Cuddling time" wouldn't affect my fragrance choice much. I wear what I feel like wearing that day or for the occasion. I've worn Chergui, Bouquet Ideale, Angels Share to do groceries. Just like I've worn Pure Musc to brunch with a girlfriend.

Great answers Claire. Personally, I love to calculate the total litres of perfume I have in my collection and divide it by the total I use in a day, month and year to give me an approximate reserve. I don't think I've ever gone below 30 years. 😂 Can't imagine what it'll be like in 20 years. Probably lots of storage considering every ingredient will be revealed to be toxic to some degree. 🤣 I think we'll eventually evolve out of chemical stimulation though. Frequency-based direct neural engagement perhaps? 😉 I'm already working on priming my pathways. 🧠

As the nature of your work sometimes require you to wear white coat in a lab, can you see yourself changing profession working or doing internship in Grasse, or in Givaudan / Firmenich for example ?
Your videos are informative, highly structured, down to earth but yet entertaining. Who knows in the future you might do an interview or make video collaboration with someone in the industry? Like Roja Dave for example. He is from Great Britain and considered one of the best nose in the world.
Ooh I tried Amouage Material this weekend, it felt like a relatively new direction for Amouage, it's very friendly and easy.
For me, I think I would like to meet a few, it could be Miguel Matos, his creations always sound completely mad. Also I would like someone who could tell me a lot about ingredients, so perhaps Aaron Terrence Hughes. I'd also like to meet someone old school and with a huge back catalogue of classics like Dominique Ropion or Olivier Cresp. But also a small indie producer I admire, like Elise Walraven.
I think it's hard to get into perfumery, I would love to experience it, but I just got a job as a lecturer, which is really the dream for wannabe academic scientists, so I think I will stay on the path that I'm on. If I had focused on Chemistry to begin with, I can see that I might have gone into perfumery or at least novel compound development and characterisation.
I would love to interview someone actually. That's a fab idea. I should perhaps try to find someone willing. Thanks for watching and for your interesting questions. ☺️
@@dr.claire.perfume i have watched Chris the youtuber from frag-mental. Chris also have made some videos with Aaron Terrence Hughes. I find Chris’s video quite funny sometimes and he has some propensity to become overly dramatic in a funny way. He is from UK but why i had this impression that he is actually an irishman. Weird but nice. His video with Cecille Zarokian is also interesting.
I learned extra more when Aaron Terrence gave explaination about certain things in his reviews. He gave extra insight about certain ingredients in perfumery. I agree with you. He is a kind of modern, contemporary and suave gentleman in the world of perfumery. Miguel Matos as i’ve found out is an editor of Fragrantica. Now i know why his name is familiar to my ear. Would love to know more about his creations in the future. Since France is a channel away from England Im sure in many years to come you will have the opportunity to meet some of the great noses there.

Wow, that's quite a comment! I'm not sure I'd agree either, but then I think lots of people's perceptions massively different with fragrance. One of my friends tried Dates Delight and said that smelt old fashioned and like Chanel no5 🤣 to me they are not at all similar... Lovely is a fab affordable one 😊

I learned as a child i could not be a collector cause i didn't like every single type of one thing. I didn't like the "ugly" beanie babies, I wouldn't buy a CD for only one hit single, and I won't buy a fragrance simply because I don't have it yet. I have between 20-25 fragrances including 3 being my husbands and 1/3 of mine are minis. I'm the only person I know who wears fragrances on a regular basis so to me that's quite a lot.
Yes, I agree, I don't want everything, it's just not me. I am quite selective and I think that's where the joy is because your choices reflect who you are. I remember thinking before I started my RUclips channel that me having 25-30 fragrances was a lot for most people. I still think that, but RUclips also normalises the idea of a larger collection. I guess because for many people it's hard to make videos that are diverse with not many fragrances. But really that's a ridiculous reason to have more fragrances than you really want and can regularly use. Thanks for watching 🥰

Collecting more - Maybe slowing down, more of a focus on artisanal/indie perfumery. I use every single fragrance in my collection, I also layer them together and make my own combinations. Once I feel bad about a fragrance, it leaves my collection. I like the term collection. Makes everything feel homely.

My Eau My is an chambre (amber chypre). I didn’t really get much of the chypre vibe now that I think about it. More of a jammy, smoky rose with honey & amber
