    I’m disappointed, I’ll admit.
    - Luther mentions Sloane maybe twice. He isn’t shown looking for her or mourning - just his usual, cheerful self.
    - Why couldn’t Viktor just take everyone’s marigold and sacrifice himself? Then only one person has to die instead of everyone. Or Five could’ve gone back in time and stop Ben from ever giving everyone else the marigold, that way the cleanse never would’ve even happened.
    - So….Diego and Five just die hating each other? With no resolution whatsoever to the love triangle?
    - Has Klaus just forgotten three seasons of character development or something?
    - Why did Ray leave? Did the actor just not want to come back for another season?
    - Weren’t there supposed to be two versions of Ben in that timeline? Why tease it, then not use it?
    - Also, way to totally waste Ben all season
    - According to the final shot, there’s still marigold in the world somehow anyway, so in theory, it’ll just start again? Either that, or it’s symbolic, which imo is naff.
    - so if Claire and the other kids still exist, but Alison, Diego, and Lila never existed, then how does that not create a paradox?
    - 6 episodes? Seriously??
    - Rushed ass season
I will concede that Luther in a thong was hilarious, but that’s it.

The only way it makes a little sense is if reg never released the marigold in this timeline, which doesn't make sense because Abigail says in the last episode that reg did exactly that. But if it was the case that this timeline didn't have marigold, and the marigold the umbrella academy got was an artifact from another timeline, it would make sense that in this timeline only the umbrella academy has marigold.
But tbh, they could have at least tried to get rid of the marigold inside them since they've already done that before.

Pretty disappointed on the post single timeline ending, pretty bland. I would of liked to know how the girl ended up in a giant squid. Thought it was kinda goofy on how Diego had some bullet controlling powers used once. Clause flew once. Teleporting kid get’s his original teleporting powers when the moment needed it. I actually really liked Viktors characterization in the first episode. Everything they did with him afterwards felt like a nothing burger. His argument about his powers felt petty since there was no build up to it and there was no exploration of how it effected him after the fact. I loved his acting even still, but yay what he went through didn’t really feel like an arc.

  • @Sunny-op4br

questions that I need to be answered by the writers: why did Ray leave? Where is Sloane? What are Diego’s twin’s names and why do they not seem to matter lol? What were the writers thinking when they put Lila and Five together? Why didn’t Viktor absorb all their marigold and sacrifice himself? What was the point of them dying to erase marigold if they just came back as marigold flowers? Did umbrella Ben know he got shot by Reggie because you’d think he’d be fuming during the dinner season in s2. When the siblings saw Ben get shot why did they allow themselves to get brainwashed (because they would’ve had to sit in the machine right?) and also I felt like if Viktor can blow up the moon he could kill bennifer.
    here’s some more,
why did Luther get his ape body back after ingesting marigold? Why was Jennifer in a squid and how was that relevant? Season three end credits? Why was there a timeline train station? Literally any explanation to Five creating the commission.

As much as i love lila and diego and i was SCREAMING when lila and five happened
Lila and Five do make sense (hear me out)
They were there for 7 YEARS
And Lila even said it was for survival or something along those lines
Lila went to go back the MOMENT five told her/showed her how to get back
      It COULD have worked
It creates tension between diego, lila, five
But it was just WAY too rushed
      It wasn't even 10 episodes!
Also diego asking lila is she loves five and her not being able to answer was kinda ugh
      Like a
"no" or an "i don't know" would have been great
It would have showed lila's true feelings
And makes five going back to the train and remeniscing more impactful

@@wizardkumaanimations9984 I think my main problem was that it seemed like the only reason Lila and Five got stuck together for so long was so that the writers could put them together to create relationship drama. Them getting stuck contributes nothing else to the plot.
Like, Lila and Diego spent two seasons working out their relationship and then Five and Lila get a brief montage- it’s just disrespectful to the characters and their arcs.

  • @trinaq

If I were to describe this season in one word, I would use "Underwhelming." It was a step above Season 3, but part of it felt rushed. I felt that Klaus was underutilised, and that we never got to see the full potential of his powers. Luther never even mentions Sloane once, despite him vowing to find her in the Season 3 cliffhanger, everyone just instantly forgives Allison for her betrayal, and there were fat jokes aimed at Diego, when he looks the exact same as he always did.
But the biggest disappointment would be Five and Lila's arc. It felt really out of character to betray his brother by kissing his wife. I know that they were stranded alone together for half a decade, but I preferred their playful platonic banter. Besides, Five was in the body of a teenager when Lila first met him, and she's half his mental age.
Viktor had the best arc, and I enjoyed his interactions with Reginald.

This right here, this hurt my soul so much. Every other season was so much fun but this felt rushed and cheap. I don't know if it was Netflix or a directing or writing thing because my god did someone drop the ball. There are too many stories crammed into 6 hours that should be told over 10. What did the klaus story contribute to the overall story or the CIA story (granted the Luther and Diego fight was fun). Why did 5 and Lila have to become a thing, why was Diego treated like shit. Why did it feel like there were no ramifications from season 3, where the hell did Sloane go??? Did Jennifer's actress say I'm out in episode 5, girl just dissappeard. This really broke my heart because the creative team truley is talented and they have shown it and there really is a good story told in here somewhere but so many directions and questions that make no sense. My problem with the Lila/Five story isn't even the fact that they kissed, because I find it somewhat plausible that after so many years in survival mode and not knowing if you'll ever find the way back home, people can get very lonely and find solace in each other. Intimacy can be a way of escapism. However, the storyline doesn't add ANYTHING to the plot! Lila and Five don't discover anything interesting in those years, like a way to stop the apocalypse, they don't interact much with the other timelines, they don't meet an interesting new character - nothing. If you remove the storyline, nothing changes. There is already tension between Lila and Diego, the love triangle doesn't add much to it. I really don't understand why the storyline exists. Maybe the idea was to show the loneliness of Five and that he's craving love and connection - but we already knew that because of Dolores.

In my opinion i think the show would be better off without this season. It started off good and i was enjoying seeing all the characters live their domestic lives but as each episode passed all my expectations that were set from the past seasons just continued to be let down. What happened to Sloane and why doesn’t Luther mention her ONCE. Where is the long awaited origin story for Mr. Reginald and his wife? Season 4 lacked the TCU charm imo. Felt like it lacked emotion and the ending didn’t have any sentimental value. Literally was just five going “ok so we have to all die now” and everyone was like ok with almost no haste and no last minute heart to heart reconciliation? One of the worst moments was for sure the end scene with the suburban utopia. Very cheesy and very out of character for the whole show.

The reduced episode count definitely harmed the overall season, I think with the 3-4h of missing episode time they could have fixed a lot of issues with the story. It felt like every character was underused, and rather than doing 2-3 really good story arks, they tried to do 4-5 which all felt very underwhelming. The time jump felt like a rehash of s2 only it didn't add anything significant to the story, the families felt hollow and I didn't feel anything when they were saved. The relationship between Five and Lila felt forced and was just there to give them something to do. I liked the cross-timeline train, however, the lack of explanation about who built it, how it works, or even why it exists was frustrating. The Commission was mysterious but we still got explanations to the how, and why it existed. The lack of payoff to any of the previous seasons cliffhangers was disappointing.
Overall the final season was a disappointment and you can really feel the animosity Netflix had during its final run by slashing the episode count and budget. It feels like it's being pushed out the door and told to leave early, leaving everyone disappointed knowing it could have been so much better if given the chance.

Five ambiguously said his link to the subway to be due to Ben creating a marigold mix but it seemed that the train was the main reason he was able to save the day so why wasn't he even able to reach there. I really don't like the fact that they didn't explain this. Plus who's notes did Five find in the subway later on when he was trapped. He said it was his writing but how exactly was that possible. I know we got to see many fives later on, but I can only assume that all these fives also got the same help from the mysterious note in fives writing. However, since the other Five said some fives didn't get the train system, I presume they didn't get the note, so how exactly did they end up in the station as bartenders and with Jobs.

There were just so many points where I was like, WHAT?! WHY?! That makes no sense?!
    Spoilers
Why did Layla get laser eyes, then later on could randomly get other people’s abilities again. Why did Luther get his ape body back when it wasn’t the marigold that did that, and why can he block bullets, but then gets knocked out by a car crash just as easily as everyone else? Why did Klaus randomly fly at the end? Why did he get Quinn to shoot him for no reason? Why can 5 time travel perfectly suddenly, and why can’t he teleport regularly when he can time travel so well? Why don’t the other 5s at the end come to the same conclusion as our 5?
Why does Reginald’s wife give the umbrella academy the Marigold when she knew it would split the timelines? And if she didn’t know the cleans would fix the timelines, then is her reason really “she felt bad for killing her home planet, so she felt she had to pay by getting killed in the process of destroying another planet?” Why would the cleans fix Earth but destroy their home world in the first place?

They didnt give more screentime for this it had a lot of potential. Also, why isn’t Luther devastated that sloan isn’t around? How come ray and allison didn’t work out? How come claire wasn’t surprised about her mom’s powers? Lila and Five could have given more action and not just sitting around. Also, how did they not just care about ben and jennifer when they already heard the worst and viktor was the only one chasing a lead? Klaus’ gang scene was a waste of time. He had his power back he already managed to be good at handling his powers before so why did he became a coward again????? I wish we could’ve seen more power from the characters at great execution but what we got were unnecessary scenes that could’ve been used for something great because it only had 6episodes.

This has to be the most heartbreaking ending I could have ever imagined. Not because all the Hargreeves and the Umbrella Academy Universe ceased to exist in the end, but because the arcs of the characters I've grown so attached to these past 5+ years ended so unjustly and abruptly.
All the subplots felt so useless. Five & Lila, Diego & Luther in the CIA building, Diego & Lila's family, Klaus' entire subplot, Alison & Claire's bickering? None of these scenes added anything to the main storyline, (minus Luther finding out the CIA was part of the Keepers) and any air time used on them were precious minutes wasted that could have gone to more plot development. Why the hell were none of them were worried about Ben being a literal ticking time bomb???
So many questions that I've already seen shared in these comments, but to echo the few that bothered me the most: Why did Ray leave Alison? Why was Luther not mourning Sloane whatsoever? When I saw him living in the condemned Hargreves mansion, I was so sure he was out there being miserable without her. But nope, he was as cheery as ever. Why could Five ONLY blink to the subway station? Who built it, and why was that a limitation to his ability? Why didn't he question it? Why did a version of himself leave that notebook in the subway station? Why did he never question that either? How did Jennifer get stuck in a SQUID? How did she know about The Cleanse? Theoretically, in this timeline, the Ben without powers should have been alive. Where was he?? Ben said it himself, him and Jennifer must have been connected, with her being found in a squid and his tentacles, why was this never explored? Why were all the Hargreeves so on-board about offing themselves to save the world, why would Diego even trust Five after he slept with his wife? Everything felt so shallow and rushed.
I have a personal theory that the directors and writers did not plan on having only 6 episodes this season, but were condensed and rushed by Netflix. There are just too many missing pieces to this story. The true potential of this season could not shine under these constraints. This series deserved a 15-episode ending, not 6.

This show could have been as big as stranger things but netflix took a semi dumb and goofy approach to it which limited the success of this show to some extent and even allowed the writers (ofc crapy netflix writers) to write absolute bs because the show will be seen in in any case. It ended very poorly, which makes it an ultimate disappointment judging by how good the source material is and what could have been made with creative minds.
Pure example of something good coming out of trash source material is The Boys whose comics are so bad yet the show turned out great so there is no excuse to what netflix did with TUA.

The first one should have been about this timeline's Reginald Hargreaves and his wife Abigail. How they live how they came to Earth... Excetra...
The 2nd one should have delt with the umbrellas first few days without their powers. Maybe have Alison or someone seek out their father.
The third one should have been a time jump to when the birthday party happens and when Victor got kidnapped.
The Fourth one they get their powers back and played out much like it did in the actual episode.
The fifth episode should have delt with the team going to rescue Jennifer. Much how it did.
The 6th episode should have been about Jenifer and her back story. Showing her in other timelines merging with the other children with the marigold inside them and destroying those timelines.
The 7th episode should have involve Luther Klause and Diago learning about the keepers at the CIA.
The 8th episode showing Lila and Five on the Subway getting lost and being ambushed over and over by different versions of Five were they actually see the cleanse monster in the last few minutes.
The 9th episode should have been about ben and Jennifer becoming said monster and everyone meeting up at the Hargreaves mansion to form a plan.
Then the last episode should have been the sacrifice that played out the way it did.
I would have been happy with that format for sure.

Their kids exist because they were in the subway. They were kept outside the timeline, so they weren't erased, but the memories of Diego, Lila and Allison were.

I love the story I truly do but I'm really let down, the credits made me feel better seeing the pictures of the cast I was kinda hoping that season 4 would have a part 1 of the season and then later drop a part 2 to really tie the rest of the story together for closer, like the children, the original timeline and other things we probably won't get answers for

Like why would the writers ignore the Ben subway scene from the season 3 post credit scene? This was hella rushed and there was a lot of plot holes. Like where was sloane or Allison’s husband?

One of the plot holes was that Sai character seeming more than he lets on. He appears to Ben out of nowhere, and then disappears second's later. While all the while knowing how to get Ben to sense and locate the girl that would help end the world. Was Sai Reg wife?

By episode 2 I already felt something was so wrong that I did not continue. Apparently the feeling was correct. Sadly. Netflix keeps emptying out the pool on their short lived series, but I didn't take the blind dive this time.

Also are we not forgeting that good ben is alived again by the end of season 3 since in the last scene we see good version of ben from the umbrella academy timeline alive in the same trained the day he was born. I was wondering what umbrella ben doing in the new timeline while sparrow ben been in prison. I like to think that Ben might be in the original timeline and only surivior member of the umbrella academy. I like to think that umbrella Ben is only person who remember his sibling sacrifice as he enjoy his life in the original timeline.

Weird thing about the ending. They had to destroy all the marigold right to fix all timelines. I mean, sure.
    But...
Claus didnt drink his initially so that should be on the floor somewhere. And they didnt even use the whole load they had.
    Kinda strange

They should have written Season 3 and 4 in reverse order😢. Season 3: they came back into a different timeline, where the Sparrows exist with a different number one (no Ben). Then in their quest to outdo each other, the umbrellas and the sparrows created the Kugelblitz. They united and Klaus and Sloane got married. They also found out that Regie and his marigold is the source of all this. Regie, revealed his true self, Abbie and everything else to his kids before killing Luther. Regie escaped and went to get Abbie. At the end of the season, they concluded that "The End" is caused because they are together so they escaped the end of the world intentionally and they went into different timelines.
Season 4: Sloane is grieving and decided to end her life. In another timeline, Diego became number one and met up with 6 other powered up being which coined after the umbrella academy. Five and Lila got stuck in an endless loop in that train in their quest to find out how to stop it. Occasionally meeting with each other in different timelines. Somewhere along the way, Lila gave birth to her and Diego's daughter and Five was there to help her out. They fell in love. (Altho I abhor the betrayal, this plot is easier to accept than the rush one they put upon us). Five discovered the end can only be stopped if they "cease to exist". Meanwhile in the nether region, Klaus found Sloane, Luther, Ben and other powered up kids who lost their lives. Luther told Ben the truth that their father killed him and Ben revealed that before he died, he met a girl named Jennifer. They concluded that Jennifer has something to do with this. Alison went back to the timeline where she had Ray. They had a daughter and they named it after Claire. She's working in the same beauty salon and have also met other powerful children. In that timeline, she found out that there is a cabal of alien beings and that their father is one of them. In the active timeline, Reggie and Abbie kept Jennifer in prison as that is the only way they could survive. They need to make sure that the Marigolds and Jennifer do not mix. Diego was the only one who made it to the active timeline and inevitably became number one. He formed a group with other powered up kids and he patterend it after the umbrella academy. He is actively fighting an evil Regie and has found out about Jennifer. Viktor is living a solitary life as a bar tender free of the others. Meanwhile, 5, in his quest to end " the end" jumped into his siblings timeline. They united... INSERT FAMILY DRAMAS here... Towards the end of the season, they found out that they don't have to die to stop the end. They only have to press the reset button at the hotel Oblivion and the only way to power it up and engage the sigils is to have all of the 43 children's marigold extracted by the machine and for Jennifer' Durango to be used as a counteracting force to stop the power of the Marigolds. Think of it as a push vs pull force to come into a neutral position. As they have met other people like them in their respective timelines, they went back and pulled them in on the truth. So everyone gets into position to the hotel oblivion in the timelines they are in. Klaus with his powers brought the dead back to the living to get the marigolds from their bodies extracted and the machine was powered up. Then it ended with the beautiful park scene that we get from the last episode of season 4 with each of the living characters living their best lives with their families, not remembering each other with somehow a sense of deja vu of a life they had from distant timelines. The dead looking down from them with a smile on a TV in their idea of heaven

“The world would be better if I had never existed” is not the message that I want when I watch a quirky funny superhero show. Everyone feels that way way sometimes. It is an incredibly common thought, particularly among people who self harm. It is not what I wanted as the final lesson from this story.
You can read it as self sacrifice for the greater good, but the danger they are thwarting is their own existence.
Would life for other animals be better if no humans had ever existed? Probably yes. But, all of my family and friends are humans. I prefer them to exist.

This is sad. I was hoping they would do so much better this season, specially since it's the last one. But halfway through I knew it was going to be disappointing. Too many pointless subplots with no clear direction. I guess this is what happens when there's not enough source material for multiple seasons. I'm gonna have to give The Umbrella Academy the Dexter treatment and only rewatch the first two seasons lol.

Why did Lila have to die? She wasn’t apart of the original 7. And it’s explained that only the 7 was the problem. Couldn’t she have transferred her marigold and lived?

Couldn't Five try time travel to stop them from taking the Marigold?

season 3 was not great. but i really hoped it would end in a good way. This season only had 6 episodes. yet it was so boring and badly paced. the whole season was pointless bc of the ending and the whole show! NOTHING mattered in the end😭 and now they are just gone and have never existed. i have never been more disappointed in my life.

I like the show but when the acting is mid and the writing is all over the place it makes it all feel shit all around and that started in season 3 imo and I feel like people are scared nowadays too say when something is bad just because they like the actors or actresses for example I like Margot Robbie but birds of prey wasn't good.

For me, it was much better than season 3 but not up there with 1&2. Apart from Five/Lila which gave me the ick - my one complaint is that they just couldn't do the story justice in 6 episodes. Would it really have killed Netflix to order 10 episodes? This is one of the reasons people are turning away from the service. They just don't seem to care about shows beyond the first couple of seasons anymore. Makes me glad that their "golden era" shows like Orange Is The New Black and Grace & Frankie got to end properly. They'd both be down to one new 5 minute episode a year by now!

I wasn't emotional at the ending. At that's says a lot. I cry at commercials dude, I cry when I hear two notes of one song cause it makes me remember a good game. And here? I know that those last scene were supposed to be emotional but well, they were not. Like why i should care about Diego's and Lyla's family? I don't even know their kids name! Two out of three kids didn't even have a name! Why i should care about Victors peacefull life in Canada as they only showed one scene of him having a pub? Geez. They massacred this show and it really makes me mad, cause i loved it.

Not only did this season not give us closure on many of the mysteries, ruin all of the characters and mess up the logic of time travel, it also has a major plot hole in that Five convincing the family to erase themselves from existence in one of the timelines should have no effect on the serveral other timelines collapsing. By the logic of the show, the Cleanse should have happened in all timelines simultaneously, no?
