  • I have throat cancer…once I was diagnosed I wanted to know more and found that RUclips didn’t have anyone documenting their journey. So i am going to do that in hopes it helps someone having to deal with this.
My throat cancer journey will be different than everyone’s however the process of radiation therapy is basically the same. What’s not the same is the severity (stages of cancer) being treated and the physical effects vary by person.
Regardless this is my story. For everyone beginning this journey, during or after … tell urself just one more day.
For those who want to follow my treatments subscribe and follow.

Am about to go thru what you went thru. I had the lesion removed on Dec 7th and came out well differentiated low grade Squamous of Right VC. The ENT said this is very curable, but no matter what that means it still gives me stress and worry about my family. Either way I am setting up the first appts with the oncologist I assume pretty quickly and start Radiation. I assume that it will be the same amount of treatments that you had. How long did it take to get set after the PET Scan to start treatments? I would think they would want to get it started ASAP. That being said I am self employed and was wondering about how you dealt with working and having this done? Were you able to talk etc. It sounds like you tolerated this well except for the first week post treatment. Thanks for the insight to your journey and go Birds

Yeah its Definitely Stressful annoying and bullshit. Yeah once the docs confirm its cancer they go as fast as possible. I started treatments about a wk after the Pet Scan. I am lucky I had a great team of people that work with me who stepped up which allowed me to work from home the majority of the time. I did a lot of facetime with everyone for onsite questions and to check on quality and to make sure the scope of work was understood. Did a lot of work over the phone and through text when I could not talk to good. I did lose my voice and somedays... so I set the expectation with everyone that if I didn't answer that I would as soon as I was able. I have an exterior construction company (not sure if ur in the same field). U must be a Philly dude cause only people who live in and or around philly say GO BIRDS....GO BIRDS ... Also when u have time ck out the other videos I did. I go through every wk of treatment and explain what happened with me...just remember everyone that goes through this has a unique journey...so what I experience may be better or worse for u. I wish and pray that ur treatments go fast and that you come out on the other side Cancer Free. If u have any other questions along the way, just know I will always answer back. 🤘

@@CertitudeHI Thanks, I grew up in DELCO/ASton to be exact and now I am a Chiropractor here in Lebanon PA, near Hershey. My ENT didnt seem too concerned about the cure part, but I have not spoken to the Oncologist yet. My problem is I know more about the body than most and know how to research about VC leukoplakia and what I am in for. I dont worry about myself so much, but I do have a 10 and 12 yr old at home and I dont want to leave them now so to speak. And that is my worst fear. I assume the treatments once started are only about a half hour or so. Thanks for your insight again and I did skim thru most of your videos to grasp what I may be in for. I know they got to it early but I worry a bit about the pet scan and hopefully they dont find any other hot spots. Thanks and F Dallas

@@stephenwaters7909 I did a scan at the start from head to thigh and I am the type that I only worry about what I can control so that helped me not stress about it. I did however prepare myself (not too much) how I would handle additional cancer if in other part of my body. I have 4 kids and I thought about them same as u. Regardless of the cat scan results my prep agreement to myself was to do some videos and write some letters for the future for my kids and wife. Ones that if I wasn't alive they could open for graduation, marriage, christmas, hard days days the birds would win blah blah blah...and for my wife she got special ones to help her move forward after I was gone. That said I did this during my treatments just in case. I don't need to give them any so i deleted them all and that felt awesome. I only deleted them when I got my second cat scan after the treatments which cleared me of all cancer. But worst case I felt that if the news was shitty for me that I would leave this world still able to be there if they chose during their pivotal moments I could not be there for them. Its insane to think this way but I would much rather die slowly and prepare then to leave quickly and not have the chance to attempt a soft landing for my family. Once last thing I can only control my thought...nothing else...so I told myself each treatment was destroying the cancer, I told myself let it hurt when it did cause it was killing it not me. The mental game was everything for me. You run a business so u know processes are everything. This is all a process follow the steps, control your mental state and push through and accept the losses and wins. And F the COW GIRLS....LOL...also I believe I'm not a cancer survivor I'm just me.

@@CertitudeHI I forgot to ask, did you have your lesion removed before treatments? And did you consult with a Chemo Oncologist as well as a radition oncolocgist to talk about your options? I got mine all set up for this week with one doc then scan then radiation doc etc. How were you able to make up your magic mouthwash? Is your voice back to normal now?

@@CertitudeHI Also how did you keep from coughing during the radiation? I assume if you move they have to stop the treatment or does it not matter at that point? Also , did your taste buds get fucked up and or have issues with excessive dry throat since you have stopped treatment?

I was not allowed to talk for 5 days after the surgery and then I waited 2 or 3 before I started radiation because I went on a vacation I had planned
