    I love this open C major tuning. It's incredibly versatile, and once you work out some scales, it's very intuitive and easy to compose all sorts of interesting and exotic tunes. I also use two other C-based tunings that open up a whole universe of musical possibilities: C minor = CGCGCD, and what I think may be C sus 4 (sorry, I'm musically illiterate!) = CGCGCEb- which will be very easy for you if play DADGAD tuning. Give them a try- you'll have endless fun making new discoveries! Even someone like me, who has zero understanding of music theory, can play some pretty advanced and impressive tunes.

      I play with similar tunings! I think C minor tuning sounds a lot like the Ngoni or Kora from West Africa. It'a very harp like.

    And trying this tune with harmonic techniques from the previous lesson is just .... amazing.

    I’ve played around in open C for a number of years, blues, Celtic-ish, folky, but this is a great addition.

    Hey there man. Just wanted to tell you that you have fans worldwide. Best wishes from Brazil!
    Also I suggest you do an arrangement for Telegraph Road by Dire Straits. So many beautiful licks on that one.

    I'm sorry if my question is dumb, but is there a tuning that could sound "hawaiian" ? I mean that this one evokes Arabia, and another tuning is especially for irish melody, so maybe is there a tuning that would evoke Hawaiian, islands sounds ?!

    What gauge works best for this tuning?

    • @thirtyyearoldmulberryfield
      @thirtyyearoldmulberryfield 3 года назад

      Look for a “bluegrass” type set, which usually have medium gauge wound strings and light gauge trebles. This way the detuned basses still has some presence and don’t get overpowered by the high strings since those stay at regular tension.
