Great video Lane, very informative. One question, on the first 2 outfits you used the kicker clips but not with the iron. Have you used the clip with the iron? Seems that it might swim a little better then a direct tie. Or is it just more of a convenience for quick bait change out?
I personally prefer the direct tie for the surface iron. I have noticed some jigs swim better with a clip, and some without.. I’d say 90% of the time I don’t use a clip with the plug, 10% I will. It’s just my preference, but it’s worth trying both!
So when using an A-rig, is there a limit to the number of swimbaits you can place?
in CA fresh is 3, in saltwater you can use 5. But check with your local DFG for more info.
Do you feel the 400 isn’t too big when you want to throw something smaller?
Sometimes yeah, usually the lightest I’ll go for calicos on these setups is 1/2oz. I only keep the 400 for the pulling power. Anything lighter than that, I’ll size down the rod and reel 🙌
