Great video Afran. Iam a long time boater with captains license. You set a great example for all of these young guys and girls. I love seeing you wearing an inflatable PFD when you are solo. The gas is a major problem on boats now with ethanol. It goes bad in 2 months and separates and attracts water hence clogging the carbs and fuel filters. Short of draining it and using it up in your car after each trip it’s hard to deal with. A preservative helps but if you let your boat sit too long it still goes bad. This problem is costing boater millions of dollars in damage. Non ethanol fuel is the answer and people have tried to get it passed for boaters. So make some noise about changing fuel for boaters.
WARBAITS FISHING sorry for the slow reply. I think Marine Stabil is good. If you can use the boat regularly you should have no problem with the gas. The problem is it separates in less than 2 months with out additive and may be good for 6 months to a year with additive. If you can drain the carb bowls after using that will help protect the carbs from gumming up.
Sick one Afran, glad the boat is back! I had my money on carburators, but didn't expect the related fuel issues. Can't wait for an anchor toss redemption video ;)
Great video and glad you got your boat back we’re not gonna be able to go out anytime soon on our boat we have a dual axle trailer and one of our tires came off and took the hub w/ it which bent the end of the axle
I always learn something new from your videos. Love the way you rigged the double rig. I have tried it with a 3 way swivel, but it would tend to tangle. What knot are you using from the braid to the swivel?
Thanks for watching. I did not like the 3 way swivel. I found it tangled a lot. I'm tying UNI Knots. I want the second bait to move freely and away from the hooked fish. It has radical action when a fish is on the line
Monday kayak fishing in la Jolla; 2 calico 17+ inches. 6 calico/spotted bass 12-. 4 white fish, 4 rock fish 12+. All in 2 hours NO electronics. I use 3 hook with cut mackerel on the bottom and 1ounce sport fish chovi hook up baits. Nothing else.

@@WARBAITS Went out today and killed on your Spinner Blade in Silver Shad! Thanks bro. Went to the same area as you too. Took my son, nephew, and brother in law. Good time man. All on WarBaits!
Awesome video. For the double rig have you compared tying it with a 3-way swivel vs. the swivel for the short leader sliding freely on the line? What advantages do you see with the sliding swivel? Does the knot get damaged; any advantage to adding a bead or rubber bobber stop to protect the knot from the sliding swivel?
On the 3-way, I found that the lines tangle. On the swivel line thru, they un tangle them selves. Plus I want the other bait to get away from the hooked fish. I added a bead in early versions and the rig tangle. As far as knot damage, I haven't had any knots break, but I do suggest re-tieing.
Good fish Afran! Went and made a run out to horseshoe kelp just outside of Long Beach, Waited 30 minutes in line for bait, and made a run out there. Ran into a few bass... Saw 2 good size yellows that passed up my iron, but i did run into a huge school of cuda that stuck around and was jumping out of water slashing on the chum, caught about 15 or 20 short ones on lures that went back, and i took 2 legal ones for dinner. The best part was i was the only boat out there
Well, a sea worthy boat. Also, It depends on what you are looking to fish. What are you looking to get into? My first boat was a 18" Bay Stealth. Kinda a hunk of junk. Didn't really Like it. Second boat was a random 17' center Console. Awesome boat. Got every dollar out of it in the fun factor. Local inshore only, could not go to the islands Third and Current boat: Key West 196 Bay Reef. Very killer boat. 160 mile capability.
I would like to just do bottom fishing. Did a charter and we didnt go too far out as is and had great success. Would thee 17 footer u have for inshore only be good for that?? Like those skiffs they got??? The islands would be cool but damn that's goals got later haha For now something to cruise around land and not to far for some sculpin. Also I've seen some with 6.6 gal tanks....is that good or how far could i get out with that ??

Hey can you give specs on your boat? Year, make, model? Length? Electronics? Trolling Motor? Your opinion on going from Mission Bay to SC island? Looking at boats etc & just curious. Used to fish FLW BFL / Redman etc. and moved to CA and thinking I’d like to start calico bass fishing.
1999 Key West Bay Reef 196 / 115ph Yamaha 2-stroke. Lowrance Elite 9. Motor Guide Great White 24v. This boat has been to SCI from Mission Bay plenty of times. I pick my days though, look for calm conditions. It’s 60miles one way. The fuel tank is 70gals so I can get about 150 miles out of one tank. I have to pay attention to what I’m doing once I get to the island so that I don’t run out of fuel on the return. Boats: Key West, Pathfinder, Everglades, Parker, ranger. There are a lot of capable boats out there to do the job. Thanks! Keep me in the loop
Another great video. Been fishing so cal calico 40 yrs. My kid is 17 and has developed into a great stick. He's got a fishing channel on you tube. Fish my bass. If you went on and left a comment, he would be stoked. If you ever had room for a calico catching maniac, he would be even more stoked. Anyone else besides me let out an audible “yessss” whenever a Warbaits video notification goes off?
A trick : you can watch movies on Flixzone. I've been using it for watching all kinds of movies recently.
@Jax Declan yup, been watching on Flixzone} for months myself =)
Definitely one of the top calico bass videos! 🔥
I freaking lol when you said “calico party “ haha love it !!
Party animal
The anchor 😂😂 oh nooo LoL
GET YOU SOME BRO. GOOD TO SEE YOU BACK OUT THERE
I’m ready to go fishing now. I never knew you could fish with double rigs. I’ll definitely check out your online store. Awesome video.
Thanks!
Dude it’s so gnarly being out on mission bay with my 10 ft dinghy lol ppl have no etiquette out there for sure
It's been insane since C19. People don't have anything else to do and I don't blame them for having fun. It's just too dangerous
Nice fish, the boat is the best kind of warbaits video. But all of them are the best😀
Thanks!

How heavy of a leader do you use? Does a heavier leader help prevent tangling? Thanks for explaining the setup in the video!
I use 30lb leader on both baits and 50lb braid for the main line. I rarely get a tangle. They free themselves
Could you do a video on tying that double rig
I believe there is an explanation at the end of this video

How are you using the double rig is that a 3 way swivel ? Or you cut a Bimini in half ?
You can use a three way swivel. I like using the double swivel method
I need to try that . Looks like fun.
Yup.
How deep is the water you're in? I love fishing for calico off la jolla. Not being able to see the kelp is throwing me off
I was in 40-55ft. I saw it on the fish finder and made a few casts. As the tide dropped, the top of the kelps started to show. Good luck!
