You had me at "better than a burger". One of my favourite things is Japanese toast. So much so because we can't get back into Japan I learned to make shokupan bread. But there is nothing like having there. Even sandos from the convenience stores are awesome. This place, , looks sensational. I can not wait to get back to Tokyo. I think I might go to this place straight off the plane 😂

Oh my goodness, what a treat. I think I’ve died and gone to heaven. Closest thing that comes to mind is Katz NYC pastrami sandwich with cheese. On my way to a certain Bakery in Setagaya City to try something similar 😉 Junk food rating. 10/10 🤤
where there is a will there is a way... actually here is some cool japanese language for you: Ishi ga areba michi mo dekiru It translates two different ways as the word Ishi can mean will and rock, they kinda work both I think. If you have rocks you can build a road or if you have will power there is a way to be made! ITADAKIMASU

My sort of place Nick.! When we were in Japan with our hungry 3 x growing teenage sons, the bakeries were a god send. We would pull into an Andersons or whatever was the local bakery and load up a bag with stuff for the boys to fill up on during the day.....awesome selection in those places. I tend to go for the sweet but heaps of savory options. Great vid mate.!

Your "clue" wasn't exactly subtle. ;) Will definitely add this to the list of places I need to check out on a special occasion -- I don't think my stomach or wallet could take it anytime too soon, though! Heheh. Also, a recommendation of a newer restaurant (about 2-3 months old) that you might want to check out: look up "Chirutoko" in Kichijoji (the name is literally a riff on "chill place"). It's a specialty burger place that does really unusual, overflowing burgers that look amazing on the plate and taste just as amazing in your face -- I really enjoy their chili burger, which has a mountain of chili beans just spilling out onto the plate in dramatic fashion. They also do specialty cream sodas in all the colors of the rainbow (you can pick your liquid of choice and color of choice!), each of which is served with a lightning bolt cookie sticking out of the ice cream for that little extra bit of magic. It is, as the name suggests, a very chill place indeed! The overflowing toast monstrosities of this episode made me think of their overflowing burger monstrosities, which is why I figured it was worth a mention. Seems like a good fit for this series! Anyway, looking forward to the next episode! Always a good time when a new episode of Junk Food Japan shows up in my feed -- though it sure does make me hungry! Heheh.

This was junk food alright... but gourmet. The lady is creative, no doubt about that! From what I gathered, Japanese tend indeed to treat bread either as a dessert (and there's a lot of milk and sugar in it) or to make toast. Bread as in sourdough, brow/black, the salty, rustic varieties doesn't appear to appeal to them all that much. Great episode, great editing and... have a nice training at the gym
