I hear you and thank you for your amazing comment! please feel free to help spread the word and hang around for more to come. Junk Food Japan is here to stay and you are part of it.
I am still amazed by the filming quality of a series that is supposed to be about "junk" food. In my opinion, tonkatsu hardly qualifies as junk food, especially if eaten with all that shredded cabbage, but I'm willing and ready to admit it as an honorary member of this glorious category. Deep-fried foods are possibly one of my worst weaknesses, I could eat heaps of them, especially meat. I can't wait to be able to visit Japan and eat the *** out of it 😋
Uncle Nic I've been binge watching your fights because they are on my recommendations lately. Love to see this chapter of the life of Blue Eyed Samurai. Cheers uncle Nic 🍶

Welcome to the channel Holly, happy to hear that you are enjoying it! New video every two weeks on Saturdays, feel free to hit the reminder to catch up the latest. And yeah that ITADAKIMASU has become quite the thing here...
I made the terrible decision to watch a video about this delicious pork cutlet while working out. I cannot think of anything but tonkatsu. Yummm! Hang tight Japan, I coming back! 😬😬😬
Hey Tyler, I was Sosai's last Uchi Deshi and lived at the Honbu for almost 4 years, taught there for close to 10 years. I fought and placed 5th in the world when Yamaki Kenji became World Champion in 1995. So, Yes I have met him many times but never fought him.
Thanks for this Nick. I have been meaning to try some tonkatsu on my next trip over as well as looking for somewhere near Shinagawa so this just made the itinerary. Really enjoying the channel and look forward to the next video.
I remember the first time I got Tonkatsu at an actual Tonkatsu restaurant…… Oh man, it’s so, so good!! On my most recent visit to Tokyo I tried curry udon for the first time & I’ve been wanting it every day since. Lucky enough one of the chain udon restaurants near me serves a curry udon…. But now I wanna know, where would YOU go for curry udon, Nick?? Or even just your favorite udon in Tokyo. =D
OMG don't get me started on Curry Udon... It's my favorite Udon style ever and I suggest you finde some of the finest slices beef and top it up with lot's of it. If I can get permission to film at this one location I know in Roppongi you will go crazy. But they also serve a Tarako Udon that is out of this world... We shall look into it. When the channel get's big enough they will all open their doors.... Patience my young one, anger leads to the dark side. Now you got me hungry...
It amazes me how in Japan, you can have chefs who specialize in things as mundane as "Deep fried food" and elevate it to an art form, where in my part of the world, fried food is just (actual) junk food.
Aaaaaand another google pin has been added to the google maps app. The Tokyo area along with other parts of Japan are starting to just look like pins, hearts and stars. The mixed platter looks like great value for money. While this is indeed junkfood, this place and the presentation makes it not look like it. Will be sure to try it when the borders open again. Keep the high quality food and the high quality programming coming.
Loving the content! Just a suggestion, I wouldn't mind the content being a bit longer than the 7-8min length now. Nicholas is such an entertaining host I'm almost sad the video ends, haha!
I think RUclips ate my comment so I hope this isn't a repeat. I realized I didn't watch all the old episodes (I made a comment about Blacows and didn't watch for a while because I can be very picky about burgers) but I'm going back now because I'm a fan of all rest of the videos. OK, so I might try Blacows AGAIN because Nicholas likes it. I've been a fan of tonkatsu since I was a kid (and I have a few years on Nicholas). I've also had my dinner but now I'm craving tonkatsu. Unfortunately, here in Oregon a lot of the Japanese restaurants are run by Korean people and their tonkatsu tends to be very thin (5mm or less). But there are Japanese-run sando stores that have proper tonkatsu. I tend to go to the chains (Katsukura and KYK) but this looks great. The Katsukura in Shinjuku above the Takashimaya Department Store uses Japanese pork and is different than the rest of the chain (I asked one of the last times I was there). I've waited in line there and it was worth it. I've also had great tonkatsu at a chain restaurant in Namba when I just followed a bunch of sarari-men going to lunch. I'm going to be dreaming about tonkatsu tonight, aren't I?
We read your comments for sure. I remember you very well. And talk about tonkatsu… I drove right past that place today and almost went in for a meal… I am happy they didn’t have parking out front. Thank you for watching and keep coming back. Junk Food Japan is here to stay
So many ways to eat tonkatsu, in a sandwich, in a bento or on a rice bowl. I would still eat the cabbage though, I really like it with sesame dressing and hot sauce.
This place is in Tokyo? I'm absolutely going there the next time I'm in Japan! Tonkatsu is one of my favourite Japanese foods, and one that is difficult to find in Europe.
What always blows me away about great Japanese food is how reasonably priced it is (except for Jiro's sushi or A5 wagyu that is 😁 ). Tonkatsu is one of my all time favourites. We just can't get fatty pork like that in Oz - it is too lean here. Reason to go back to Japan no. 763 😁
Love the episode and the channel! If I could offer one bit of feedback it would be that the pacing seems a little rushed. Maybe if the clips weren't cut so tight and there was a little more "breathing room" to them. quick question for nick and his viewers, is it wrong to tonkatsu a wagyu new york cut steak? bought three from my local butcher, yes where i live we still have real butchers just curios about the third steak, and for those wondering American wagyu in NV is $63.00 a pound mine totalled out 378.00 out the door
